  1. $400?? incredibly cheap. Sounds like a phone quote, I doubt you will get out that cheap. A compressor on your car at the dealer is close to $2000, aftermarket shops will probably offer you the same warranty, 12 months, 12k miles. But are they familiar with your car model. Always nice to have an experienced technician working on your car.
  2. You must not have bought the shocks at the dealer. Which is no big deal, you just have to drill out the side of the old shock ball retainer so that you can reuse it. The Supra lip sounds cool, show us some pictures.
  3. This is truely a great car. I just sold my 1992 SC400 with 276k miles. I didn't even have to advertise, is was very easy to sell. The high side power steering hose on this car is pretty expensive, but your can take the hose off of the car and look up a hose company in the phone book and take yours to them, the can replace the rubber section of your hose for a fraction of the cost of a dealer. The power steering pumps on these cars are bad about leaking, but you can go to your dealer and buy a power steering pump reseal kit. So much cheaper that a complete pump. This is all that 99% of the cars need. Also if you go to your local parts house, your can buy a plastic polish used for lenses, and it will work wonders on your headlights.
  4. It might be something really simple like having left the gas cap off. But this year model did have a TSIB Technical Service Information Bulletin for updated O2 sensors. If that is the problem, then they will be installing the updated part when they repair it.
  5. They do have on ecu reflash update for many of these. 2002 models and up. Check with your dealer to see if your VIN numbers fits in the applicable range. Also a big problem with this car is the fuel quality. It doesn't say it anywhere on the car, only the owners manual. But you need to run this car on superunleaded. The lower grades of gasoline accentuate the shifting concern. This does not apply to 2001 and earlier models, those are very different.
  6. Every new body style ES300 has this problem. The Toyo tires are prone to cupping and have a high wear rate. Also every car is out of alignment from the factory (2002 2003 models), a contributing factor.
