  1. I now agree about the rotten egg smell. It only happened during heavy acceleration while I was chasing down another BMW but the dealer showed me the TSB. My only concern is that the floor board appears to get hot as well.
  2. I had to replace the original tires at 13K but the dealership was great and paid for two of them. I too went back with Michelins.
  3. Completed a 1400 mile weekend trip in my LS460L into Southwest Texas' Big Bend country. 4 passengers and a trunk full of luggage. Averaged speeds of 90+ with several cruises at over 100mph. One stretch we set it on 120mph for 40 miles and it appeared to have a lot in reserve. Car handled perfectly and was extremely smooth. Always felt in total control and the ride was unbelievable. Step in at 100mph and it shifts down into 7th (maybe even 6th) and hits 120+ in seconds. A little wind noise on left and right front windows but couldn't be happier with the car if I tried. Love my LX but this LS is the best of 4 Lexus' I have owned. Still interested in the MB S550 but after this weekend, I am very satified. Bad news is that my neighbor who was with me wants one now. Damn sure wish you could input info into the Nav system on the fly. FYI only. cobber1
  4. I just had the brakes replaced on our 2001 LX at 46,000 miles. Unfortunately now I have a squeek in my brakes and it sounds like some old junker pulling up to a stop light. I had Firestone do the work but they put Lexus pads on and turned all 4 rotors. They (Firestone) of course is saying the squeek is caused by not replacing the calipers, which would have been $1200, and one of them is hanging up. BS in my opinion because the squeek is only at low speed stops. I'm going to ask them to take it apart and deglaze the pads. Any other suggestions?
  5. I'm on my second LX but have recently driven the new and improved Escalade. They have finally corrected the roll into the corners, dressed up its looks both inside and out and no doubt beat everyone on pure horsepower. It has a great sound from that big V8. But I'm holding out hope that the new LX570 will continue to be my vehicle of choice. For one, there are 10 Escalades for every one LX on the street where I live. I think the 1 inch width and 4 inch length increase in the interior cockpit will be very noticeable and the power fold seats will help but I want POWER along with my comfortable ride. Good introduction video available on Lexus.com.
