  1. Maybe you can call some other glass companies yourself and get some prices. USAA should know exactly how much the glass+labor would cost so maybe you can ask the rep to give you a price range they are willing to pay. I had dealt with USAA several years back with an accident and they were very willing to resolve claims.
  2. I would get the Bimmer if their quality were much improved, since they are not then for the first time in 11 years, I came back to Lexus.
  3. I am afraid it's your amp. It would shut itself off when it detected overheating. Once it has cool down it would work again. There might be a short in the amp but I am no expert of it. Check all your speakers includes subwoofer, maybe one of them is shorted out and cause the amp to shut down.
  4. The LS430 has great audio system as long as you like classical music. Personaly, I think they are just fine. Just do some playing around with it. Do you have ML system? Navigation? There should be a "FADER" for front and rear adjustment. LS 430 has 8" subwoofer so that you are not going to have lots of boom coming out of it. GS has bigger subwoofer so there are more boom from the GS. I have not heard any one replace the entire system but to add amps to make them sound better, and NO, I don't know who, where, when or how. I guess a trip to your local car audio shop would be more informative. We have a MB ML55 AMG and the Bose audio sounds great in it's own way and I preferred it over my ML system in my LS.
  5. Check this thread http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=36108.
  6. Try ebay, there are usually some from totaled cars...Good luck...
  7. Here http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=185214 is the link to have the subwoofer removed. It only aplied to LS430 Ultra, because of the center cooler, if you have a non-ultra there should be 2 bolts behind the center armrest but I would not know how to get to them. Good luck and hope it helps...
  8. Call Wheels America, http://www.fixrim.com .
  9. Maybe you can try to swap the speakers Left to Right to see whether the speaker had shorted out. If it were the amp., try Ebay before the dealer. Good luck to you.
  10. Y117, I am in big D too. I bought a silver/black 01' 430 Ultra w/61k miles 3 weeks ago and paid $22,000+TTL . The dealer was asking $27,499 and I had searched lots of places and the prices were not as friendly as you might think. Nevertheless I was happy with my deal until I found out the Laser/Radar cruise control was broken and I bought a new replacement for $1,245 and installed it myself. I think the auction might not be as good as you think, either. Lots of time they will and know how to hide flaws of the car and there was not lots of time for you to "kick the tires" beforehand. Anyway, good luck with your search. :)
  11. Actually it was my stupid mistake. I had a blown subwoofer and I took it out to repair it. I used the yellow rubber cement to glued the speaker to the mounting ring(it was separated) and left it for 2 nights, but when I remount the wires back I reversed them, that's when the audio was acting up. Sooooo I switched the wires and it is now OK. I was glad there was no damage to the system(amp,etc..). Well..lesson learned.. By the way, the ML subwoofer does sound better than the JL subwoofer everybody was talking about replacing with. I now have a JL sitting in the garage..
  12. Never mind. Problem solved.
  13. Hi all, new to the forum and have a weir problem with my ML audio. Came back from dropping off kids at school and all the sudden the radio started to sound like it was scanning the stations, cutting off every 4-5 seconds. So I tried CD's and it did the same thing. Then I tried AM and it did the same thing, sounded like it was trying to scan for stations only it was not. I shut the car off and waited for 1/2 hour and tried it again. It still did the same, like it was scanning for stations, cutting for the sound every 4-5 seconds and the sound would come back for 1/2 second and cutting off again. It did this on every FM, AM stations and CD's and tapes. as well. Any thoughts ? thanks. The car is 2001 LS430 ultra with nav. and ML audio sound.
