  1. Went to the Toyota dealer today to ask about 60,000 mile service for my 2001 LS430. He gave a price of $549.00. This included engine and cabin filters, oil and filter change, rotate tires, 4-wheel alignment, wiper blades, flush brake fluid, injector cleaner, and 127 point inspection. I like the ideal of the inspection as the car will be out of Lexus 100,000 mile 8 year warranty on Oct. 31, 2008. He said a trans flush would run $159.00. I then asked about a timing belt replacement as it is beyond the 7 years limit but not the mileage. He said he would replace it. Cost $349.00. He also said he would replace the water pump if it was him. He said if the water pump goes later it would cost close to $500.00. Cost to do it with timing belt would be $315.00. He also said he would do the drive belts at the same time as they would have to be removed to do the timing belt. He said he would replace them for just cost of the belts no labor, $50.00. He did say he would work on the price as I take both my RX300 and LS430 to them. How much I don't know at this time. I asked if I was to replace the air filters myself would that save me any, he said he would take the price of the filters off the 60,000 mile service charge. Price for everything a little over $1400.00. What do you think? Thanks.
  2. I have an "01" with the nav. and ultra package. It's black on cream. I love the car. It has 56,000 miles. Thank goodness its has a 100,000 mile 7 year Lexus gold warranty, as they are very costly to repair. The nav. was acting up, they keep it twice and never really found a for sure problem. They replaced the disc, not sure of the cost on that. The drivers outside mirror was not adjusting, this would have cost me $915.00. Just had a engine sensor replaced, would have cost me $300.00. I might not be so happy with it if it keeps breaking and I have to foot the bills.
  3. The oil light came on last night on my 2000 RX300. Took it to a Toyota dealer this morning. (They had just performed the 90,000 mile service) They called and said the oil was about three quarts low. They said there were no oil leaks under the car. They pulled the valve covers and found gel build-up. They called the Lexus dealer and told them what they found. Lexus said for me to bring the car to them so they could inspect it. Took it over to the dealer, but it was too late for them to look at it today. Talked to the service manager, he said it should not be a problem getting a new engine cover under the campaign. The eight year warranty runs out on 8/19/08. It has had the oil changed about every 3,000 miles, sometimes at Lexus and sometimes at Toyota. Will keep you posted.
  4. Steve, Have you considered/looked at the Bridgestone Turanza serenity? i think they are the replacement for the LV-S. I am just about in the need for a set for my 01 LS430 myself.
  5. Had my timing belt changed on my 2000 RX300 at 90,000 miles at a Toyota dealer. Did not get to look at the belt, but the service writer said the water pump was in great shape, he said not to replace it.
  6. Just had my 2000 RX300 90,000 mile service performed at Oxmoor Toyota, in Louisville Ky. Worked performed: Replace timing belt Flushed brake fluid Replace oil and oil filter Replaced air filter Replace cabin A/C filter Replaced engine coolant Rotate tires 27 point inspection Cost for parts and labor: $650.00 They said the water pump and seals were in great shape, did not need to replace at this time. Trans. flush was done at 81,000, so will wait till 95,000 mile to flush again, was also done at 60,000 miles. Just posting for everyones information.
  7. I am mainly looking for quite and good ride. High speed and handling are not as important. I talked to Tirerack and they advised against the HydroEdge, mainly for the speed rating and the harshness and tire noise. He said it was a very hard compound and sidewall. This is what enables the 90,000 mile tread warranty. He suggested the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity, very good ratings on their site, much better than the Michelin MXV4s. My size is 225/55/R17. Thank-you for all your help.
  8. Hello, I have a 2001 LS430. I was wondering if anyone has installed Michelin HydroEdge tires on their LS? Tirerack has them for $145.00, which seems like a bargain compared to other Michelin tires. The tire also got great reviews on the Tirerack site. The only problem I see with the tires is a "T" speed rating, which I think is only up too 118 miles an hour. This will not effect me but will it affect the car in any other way? Thanks for any info. This is a great site, keep up the good work.
  9. Does anyone know of a good window tint installer in the Louisville Ky. area? It is for a 2001 LS430. Not so much interested in low price as I am in very good quality. Thanks
  10. I just took ownership of a 2001 LS430 with the ultra luxury package. It has 45,000 miles and under warranty till 100,000 miles or 1 1/2 more years. It's black with a cream interior. My question is, is there touch-up paint for the dash area just below the navigation screen. There are a few chip marks from finger nails when I guess the owner was moving to touch the screen. The color under the screen is gray, which I think is common for at least the 2001 model year. Also I want to say this is a great site and thank-you for all the information. I have been logging in for the past couple of years as I own a 2000 RX 300 also. Have not had transmission or sluge problems with 77,000 miles on the RX. Thanks again
  11. i In less than 500 miles I will turn over 100,000mi on my 00RX trans. So far the only trans service I've done is to have the trans fluid flushed/replaced twice once at 45,000 nad again at 90,000. To be honest I dont even check it more than 2-3 times a year. Knock on wood I havent had any problems so far .
