  1. The guys are right. TURBO! An US made turbo kit. This is the most cost efficient way to boost your car's performance. There is not much JDM stuff available for the 3.0L N/A engine, so basically you do not have much options. In addition, I would go for coilovers (e.g. HKS Hipermax) and for a set of swaybars.
  2. The Acura TL are in a completely different class then the LS. The Acura is based on the Honda Accord platform (l think the European version ;) ) and is more IS300 class, in terms of pricing and target group. Even the legend is not considered as LS class, but is positioned a bit lower (Legend is more like the Audi A6 or Lexus GS), and the Legend only has a V6, whereas the LS has a V8.
  3. Those 2 cars are totally different. One is a sports coupe and the other want is a reliable and comfortable limousine :) First you need to decide what your requirements are and prioritize them. e.g. - Space - performance/speed - handling - comfort - reliability - warranty If you need the space, but also want handling and speed, youcan also consider the GS300/400 or the IS300.
  4. The ride will be a little bit more stiff and handling will be improved slightly due to a lowered car.
  5. Welcome to our club :) :) :). Hope that you will become a regular visitor. In order to give you further advice, pleas provide some more info about your car. What year and what engine? To what I know there are not any real significant ECU upgrades available, only some that come with certain intakes. Also advise what your interests are. There are a couple of people (incl. myself :) ) that are authorized to do Group Buys, and we would like to know what we should offer
  6. You cannot just add a chrome emblem to your existing steering wheel. It would be too dangerous in the case you really need to need the airbag, and you could then be seriously wounded by a flying emblem rocket. The only other option I can think of besides replacing your airbag, is to paint the logo yourself using some chrome-like paint.
  7. a rear alignment is ofcourse always better, and that also includes for your front. Theoretical you need to check alignment periodically, and since you changed your tires also in front, the front has been changed as well. However, most people (and most shops) do not do the alignment, since it requires expensive equipment and time/effort. Also, you did not lower your car, so most likely your car will be fine (i.e. within the acceptable range). An alignment is very important/must if you lower your car.
  8. Can you please show some pics of European new-style taillights? I found this pic on the UK lexus board, but to what I know they look the same. The only thing may be that the UK version may only have 3 bulbs, where the Aristo version (not sure about the US version) has 4 bulbs. I think due to European regulations, it is only allowed to have 3 stoplights/bulbs. link to a pic with the UK version By the way, I am doing a GB for Toyota Aristo taillights. I do not know if they are different to the US version, except for the part no. Send me a PM if you have further questions.
  9. So, only one person is interested in the new style taillights?
  10. Yes rubbed off by a professional ............ So they need to charge you accordenly. Note that many jobs can be easily done by yourself, but with the high labour charge, commercial companies often need to charge several hundreds of dollars.
  11. replacing only the shocks or replacing the shocks and springs normally takes about the amount of labour, so i do not expect any much additional labour cost. In my opinion, if you are still on your original front shocks I would consider to replace these as well, such that you will have all four shocks on all 4 corners.
  12. The headlights covers are expensive, expect something like $400 - 500 a set. Another thing is shipping. These taillights are packed in boxes that are 25" x 16" x 16" each, so shipping will be expensive!
  13. So, now you have the original shocks in front and KYB shocks for the rear? did the previous owner also change the rear springs? Probably there is a mismatch between the front and rear shocks/springs. Different brands, spring rates, ... I suggest that you first find out what exactly has been changed, and what not. Also, if you are going to replace the rear shocks, you might as well replace the front shocks with the same brand/type. If your front shocks are worn, the rear shocks may overcompensate the balance of the car.
  14. The EBC RedStuff is not recommended if you want 'noise-less' pads. The RedStuff are for street racing purposes, and the rule of thumb is that the more hi-performance/racy the pads, the more dust and noise they generate. EBC pads are often very nice, but wear quickly and are not cheap.
  15. I have used Axxis deluxe plus rear pads on my GS and they are very quiet and also very low dust. However, in my opinion if you are not looking for high performance pads, I would stick to the Toyota OEM pads. Don't be scared away by the expensive Lexus dealership pricing. Probably shopping around will give you better pricing.
  16. It really depends what you are looking for. Higher performance? Better ride/comfort? Drop? If you want to drop your car I would consider more performance orientated shocks like Koni or Bilstein. If you budget allows, I would consider something like Tein CS coilovers. There are a lot of coilovers avail for the JZS147 :P And just skip the shocks/springs alternative.
  17. If you can take the parts out, I can refinish them for you. I have some posts on the LOC UK site. LOC UK - refinishing parts thread Basically, there are some 10 - 15 different options/looks, including brushed aluminium, glossy aluminium, black marble/wood, CF, ... Quality is very nice
  18. Toyota sources its parts from many different suppliers, including KYB and Tokico. However, shocks can come in many different flavors, and only KYB has more than 4 - 5 different shock types, some are more sporty, some are more focused on comfort. It difficult to say if the new shocks have a completely different ride then your current shocks. Perhaps first thing you need to do is to evaluate your existing ride. Why do you want to change you shocks? Don't you like the ride/comfort/handling? Are the current shocks worn and due to replacement?
  19. Ha, ... there are many WRX :) Some like the WRX have almost as much power as the GS400. Also, the WRX is M/T, the GS400 is A/T ans is much lighter. In a 0 - 60 drag race, the WRX STI will beat the GS400, but the GS has a higher max speed. In terms of price/performance, it is difficult to be a WRX STI. But if you want to do only dragraces, there are more cars that beat the GS, or even the WRX. THe big question is, if you want to do drag racing, why didn't you buy a WRX in the first place?
  20. I personally would also get new shocks. Since you have a 1st gen GS, your current shocks might already have been used for a long time (read: worn), and may not be able to cope with the shorter springs. So if you change your springs you better also change your shocks. Also, besides buying springs and shocks, there is a signifcant labour charge. This labour charge will be about the same if you only install springs or if you install both new springs and shocks.
  21. I agree, i mean conceptual:lol: . Although the comparing the GS400 and the WRX with a Civic and a F150 truck? and yes, the GS will beat the WRX, if you are: - looking for the highest comfort - driving many miles - looking for the largest interior and largest trunk size - ... As SW said, this comparison does not make a lot of sense. The two cars are totally different, and are focusing on a totally different target/market group. People that are comparing those 2 cars are not seeing the strengths and differences between the cars
  22. I have 18" Racing Hart C5's Front is 235/40/18 and rears are 265/35/18. I have dropped mine with Apexi World Sport coilovers. As you can see, there are many possibilities. You also need to consider the road condition (many pot holes + bigger rims means easily damaged rims :( ), if you want comfort/ride or sporty, budget, ...
  23. Just wondering how many people with RX300 like to mod their car? The below grilles are some grilles for the Toyota Harrier, also known as Lexus RX300 :) outside Japan. Do you like Original JDM Harrier grille Special edition grille - Type 1 Special edition grille - Type 2
  24. Vanzant, i understand that you want to help the others, but would prefer that you would do that in a new post. The original post is getting pretty messy. No hard feelings
