  1. Hey guys. i am i need of a new shifter knob. the leather on the top is begining to crack off. i've looked on ebay and aftermarket stores. but the problem is the overdrive button. is there anyway to fit a new shifter, say off of a new model LS on My 92, over the O/D button. I was trying to find one with the tan leather and woodgrain combination, but all i can find are the ones of the newer model that are straight, and not in the kinda T that mine is, so i don't think it would be a match because of the button. thanks
  2. yeah i guess your right it must have been an option. that would have been cool to find though.
  3. i thought the post about the keyless beep volume nob was very interesting. so i quickly went outside to check. but there is not nob down there at all. you said it was on the left side under the dash right? about where the diagnostic is located
  4. i'm not sure about the beep. when u put the key in ignition. but i do know that the older LS keyless entry does not beep when locked or unlocked. so u'll just have to listen or look inside to make sure.
  5. just go to www.leatherique.com and u can read about it. its a little pricey but i've talk to professionals that swear by it. they said its the best product to soften hard leather. from older models. i did some research and am still doing research on those types of products. b/c my leather is soo hard and brittle feeling. You hear a lot about lexol products but in extensive research i've found it doesn't do that much for softening the leather. But the leatherique is supposed to soak and penetrate deep into the leather, for a dramatic softer and more supple feel.
  6. The Gs model has the same powerful 4 liter v8. it might have different gearing i'm not sure. also its a lot lighter car, with sportier suspension. therfor a quicker and maybe sportier cornering and feel. my buddy has a 96 gs400 and the comfort is about the same. it seems to be a little bit quicker than mine due to weight. and has a lot less body roll in the corners. last thought is you really can't go wrong with any 400 model, ls,gs,sc.
  7. really?? u loved it that much. i have a bottle. and have used it often. but its definately not a miracle product. i mean it only got out the very fine hairline scratches that just penetrate the clearcoat that u can't even hardly see in my experience. it didn't even phase any of the small noticable srcatches, but maybe its a faulty bottle or something. glad its working great for you. maybe i need to get a new bottle
  8. I agree, I wanted a calendar too. but it seems odd that the calandar doensn't feature its flagship car.
  9. ok. question answered i just got my rims and tires in. they are 5 spoke off of a 99 ls 400, and i mounted them on my 92 with no problem. they look great. and the car handles a lot better with the wider tires. thanks
  10. mejojo. u might be right, i might have gotten the 2 mixed up. i'll do some research this afternoon and post my findings. thanks
  11. i've talked to some mechanics that have said it is very rare to see a 1st gen. ls 400 with the climate control lcd with proper illumination. mine is burt out too. you can send it to mikado, like someone said previously, but i've seen the b/f and after of that job and although the lcd is fixed and shows the time and temp., the actually numbers and lighting do not match the oem radio. the numbers after the fix are smaller and in a different font. and the color of the screen is also a different shade. I thought it didn't look very good because it doesn't match the lcd of the oem radio. now, if you have installed an aftermarket cd player or head unit, makido can fix the climate control to match the color of that. ex... the one i saw had a pioneer blue faced head unit, and the replaced climate control, was fixed with matching blue illumintion, and since the oem radio isn't there the font of the numbers didn't matter. just my 2 since thank you
  12. actually the specific question is will the oem rims off of a 99 ls400 fit on my 92 ls 400??
  13. i was wandering if anyone had any experience with lexol and or leatherique. and which product is the best for softening up the leather, or if anyone has a used a better product for softening the stiff leather of an older lex. please no listings on meguires,mothers,ect... or any other auto zone or walmart cleaner, i've tried them all and they don't work. thanks guys
  14. my car did the same thing after i was changing my headlight bulbs.and putting on new battery cables and terminals. it just was clicking and wouldn't turn over. i went and got a new battery, and it fixed it. the battery just didn't have enough juice to turn it over. try your battery
  15. will the 95 and older model oem Ls400 wheels fit a 92 ls 400??
  16. i agree. the caddy has a more sporty suspension package. the ls suspension is more for quite ride comfort. also the car is 13 years old. u can't expect the suspension to be up to par after that many years of driving. my 92 ls has the stock suspension, and i can tell its worn, but still a heck of a lot quiter and smother, that most newer car makes.
  17. ha ha. thats a good idea, but u might be running that thing for a long while, iv'e heard of almost 300 k without timing belt breaking. on a 91 ls
  18. yeah, thats a good suggestion by five. i would check the rear brakes and maybe get the rotors are outta wack and need to be machined
  19. try putting some rain-x on ur windshield. it will create a small layer of protectant, on ur windshield. and the blades will flow easy and more smooth across, i did that on mine and it seems to work
  20. thanks west, i think the problem with the brake light was simply i was low on brake fluid. and something as simple as that just didn't cross my mind thanks for the suggestion.
  21. ok, sorry west for jumping on u, i thought u were being rude. i actually meant that the bulbs burn a brighter white than the yellowish looking stock bulbs. and the reflection of the white light gives u a better view of the road. unlike the plasma bulbs that i once had that just looked a purpleish color. but u could hardly see on a dark road at night, thats why i changed bulbs
  22. to remove the air cleaner house its just takes some time. its easy though, it just has a few 10 mm bolts that hold on the air cleaner housing then, remove that, and loosen the clamp to from the intake pipe and remove there is another clamp on the throttle body, do the same. i think there are a couple of small heat sheilds, that require 10mm socket. and then ur good to go. u'll be able to do it, it just takes time and a little patients
  23. no, wwest didn't even post the question. he's in here being a jerk, he posted a comment to a question i had. and he replied, its simple a microswitch. and thats all he put. that really helps out. he's just replying for the hell of it, not to help anyone, like all the others do in this club
