My 92' SC400 stock Nakamichi Double Din Head Unit, Amp, and Changer had gone rest in peace recently and I am having a hard time locating a CD/MP3 head unit as a replacement.
I wanted to replace a single Din head unit but none would fit in the car. I went ahead and decided to get a Double Din Head Unit (thinking it would just bolt right in) but Crutchfield said they don't have one that will fit in my car, and so does other stores and installation stores. They all mentioned that an installation kit has to be customized to which a specialty shop can do it for me for $300, just for the frame to bolt it in nice and flushed, excluding the labor. I am looking at least $600-700 just to have the CD/MP3 receiver installed and customized.
I can't believe no CD/MP3 Receiver would fit in the SC400. Need anyone's advise on what other options do I have or if you know of a CD/MP3 receiver that will fit a 92' Lexus SC400 dash.
My goal initially is to put a Kenwood Excelon Receiver first and save up for my next project to put in the Kenwood Music Keg.
Any advise would be really appreciated.
