The front pads and rotors on my 2004 AWD RX 330 are worn to the point where the pads need to be replaced and the rotors are worn so they cannot be turned and should be replaced. Mileage is only 25,000. This is the first car I've owned where the major brake parts have worn out before the original tires. The car is not driven hard and I wonder if other owners have had this poor brake wear experience. Please comment on advisability of pressing Lexus for a warantee consideration.

I have a 2004 RX 330 and when setting the heater at 70 degrees, the heat generated seems cooler than 70. Actually have to set temp at 73 to make the heat generated feel like 70 degrees. Is this a problem experienced by anyone else and if so, what is the remedy besides just setting the temp higher.

I have been considering buying Toyo brand tires 225*55*16 V rated. Any other Toyo users care to share their experience with this brand?

What is the problem with the automatic door lock with my 1998 GS 400? Key button locks all doors except dront passenger door. That door can only be locked with key in slot from outside or manually inside. Same problem occurs when I try to auto lock with button on inside. Am I facing an easy fix or multi-hundred dollar service problem? I am not mechanically inclined and plan to take the car to a service professional or Lexus dealer. Any comments would be appreciated.

I have a 2004 RX330 AWD that I frequently manually down shift when comming to a stop to save brake wear. Can I expect the manually downshifting will cause any undue wear or other problems with the automatic transmission? I've been reading the posts on this forum which speak about transmission problems. Am I looking for trouble by the manual downshifting at reasonable speeds?

I have received recall for replacement of brake booster on 2004 RX 330. What is the problem with the original equipment brake booster?

My 1998 GS 400 (62,000 mi.)has a small brake fluid leak noticed on garage floor when car is parked for extended periods. Leak seems to be flowing down verticle exhaust shield and originating rearward of the fire wall. I have had an under car vehicle inspection with no luck in finding the source of the problem. I am not sure but the problem may have started after brake fluid was changed at the 60,000 mile inspection. The underside of all reachable brake lines and the fluid reservoir are dry. Could use some expert advise.

How do you arrange a factory tour. I live in Buffalo NY and own an RX330 and would like to visit the Canadian factory outside of Toronto.

I am hearing that the roof rack on suv's ( I have a 2004 RX 330) can increase gas consumption. I have 3 questions: 1. Is it true that removining the cross members on my roof rack will improve gas mileage? 2. How do you remove the roof rack cross members on a 2004 RX 330? 3. Will removing the cross members weaken the roof rack assembly?

Would gas mileage be improved on 2004 RX 330 if cross rails were removed from roof rack? If so, how do you remove cross rails?

The back up lights on the 2004 RX 330 are so dim the car should be recalled as unsafe for backing up at night. I wish Lexus would step up and offer a solution!

My 2004 RX 330 AWD with 10K miles makes a slight humming noise in the drive train while driving on highway at 65 mph steady speed (2,000 rpm's). Has anyone experienced this and is it something that should be corrected?

Had new brakes and rotors on '98 GS 400 but ended up with clunking sound when brakes were applied. ,Posted this topic before and responses advised be sure to have new shims added to the replacement pads. I followed advice, added shims by repalacing pads with Centric pads that came with the shims and the noise has disappeared. Thanks for the great advice.

My GS 400 (1998) has a noticable clunk sound occasionally when applying the brakes. Seems like a common problem from the posts I've seen on this web site. Most responses indicate that the clips holding the pads need changing. Is it possible to change these clips after non-O.E. pads and non O.E. rotors have been installed or are the clips available only for the O.E. equipment. If the clips can be replaced on non O.E. pads, are the clips available from auto parts stores or only from Lexus dealers?

I had same question with my RX 330. Service manager showed me how to do it, it seemed real easy but guess what? I have forgotten how to do it. When it is time to change the blade I'll go back to the dealer. Probably will have to replace with a Lexus rubber refill which shouldn't cost very much.

You mentioned chromes so it seems that you are not using original wheels that came with the GS (1998). The original wheels came with a special cylindrical tool to unlock the the wheel nut on each wheel. This tool fits in the empty space in the foam tray.

The noise is more of a mild clunk sound than a squeel. As I mentioned some time ago while car was under warantee same noise occured and was fixed with a "clip" replacement. What is a clip? and can I safely drive the car and have the clip replaced later?

My 19998 GS 400 (60,000 mi.) makes a mild brake noise when brakes are applied at slow speed. I don't think the noise come from the car's leaning as it is heard even when comming to a rolling stop. Had same noise when car was new and under warantee 3 years ago, some clip was replaced and noise stopped. Can anyone advise what is going on. I have just replace rotors and pads by a local repair shop and remember that this noise was noticed long before the recent brake job.

My 1998 Gs 400 with 60K miles has for the 2nd time in 2 years made a loud engine knocking or valve knocking noise when cold strarting the engine. First time it happened Lexus dealer said it was a piece of carbon stuck in valve and that is why the noise disappeared soon after driving. Same thing happened today. Noise at start-up followed by quiet engine after short warm-up. Is this a common occurance for a car like mine used mostly for short trips? Has the engine been harmed if the noise only occured so infrequently?

My 1998 GS 400 with 59K miles runs great but according to dealer requires new plugs and change of all other components,belts,fluids,filters etc.. Lexus dealer offers complete program(plugs & belts replacement,trans oil change, filters, etc. ) for $1300. I challenged the service charge but agree with the parts replacements and was told that the service takes 12 hours labor at $90?hr. Does that make sense?

Thanks for reply but what are gel cell or optima batteries, also, will i have any problems with electricals or computer while changing batteries

My 1998 GS 400 has original battery. How long should I wait before changing for new battery as original battery is fine. What would be a good aftermarket replacement battery and will I encounter any difficulties with car's computer, electricals, etc. when original battery is disconnected when battery is finally changed?
