  1. Hi eyoung, I have a 2004 GX470 with Mark Levinson/Nav but rear audio only, not DVD. I recently had an Invision G10 DVD/TV tuner installed. It is their latest 10 inch drop down DVD, not even on their website yet. http://www.invisionindustries.com/products.html The audio plays through the car via a hard wired FM modulator that integrates with the factory antenae wiring (much better sound than the wireless FM modulator on most systems). I cannot control the video from the Nav screen but gnetcanada.com in canada sells an external video integration interface box that should allow me to do watch whatever is playing on the rear screen on the nav screen. Here is the link. http://www.gnetcanada.com/navvideo-models-..._rgb_toylex.asp The picture quality is excellent, even off to the side. The sound qaulity is also very nice. (It also comes with two wireless headphones so you don't have to listen to the DVD.) I haven't really watched much TV yet but I hear that it is not usually that good Another nice feature is a USB port that will let me play home DVDs or picture slide shows from a portable USB drive. I can use the remote from the front seat to turn off the unit. One downside is the obstructed view through the rearview mirror when the screen is down. I just use my side mirrors while our little one watches his Sesame Street DVDs. One problem I have yet to sort out is loss of the ability to use my CD changer since the install. I think this has to do with an interupted circuit when the rear seat audio display in the headliner is removed to make space for the DVD player. I am looking into a workaround for this. I got a good price (half off list) from dealerfit.com but i see they no longer have this unit for sale. I was thinking of getting the 7" headrest monitors but I really like the larger 10" widescreen size of the drop down unit and the better sound quality of the hard wired FM modulator. Just some thoughts from my experience. Tim
  2. the controllers go for 125.00 used working condition This is the rear audio controller located in the headliner you speak of? I will need one that works with the Levinson audio sysytem. Do you have a contact #? there are 2 different gx470 rear systems and 2 diferent controllers. one has dvd screen flip down called rear entertainment system. . the other is a rear audio controller no video invloved. call me at 937 322 1760 to figure out which one you have. i dont understand why the dealer didnt give you the part nunmber and price of the part you needed but i will help you figure it out. very hard to do by club posts. i deal in this every day and cant figure out what you need without asking more questions. gx470 rear audio controller is actually in the back of the console along with ac contols for rear air. a lot of dealers have no idea of the different options in a gx470. I am having the same problem with my CD changer. I recently had an Invision G10 drop down DVD player installed in place of the headliner Rear Seat Audio System (no DVD) unit. It was done by a local car audio video specialty company here in Seattle. Ever since the install of that unit, I get the same message about the CD changer. If I read these posts correctly, it sounds like that overhead display unit is necessary for the CD changer to work. Hopefully, there is a bypass of some kind If anyone has any experience with this problem, I would love to hear about it. I plan to take the car to the dealer this Saturday (to have a faulty hinge on the glove box checked out). I was hoping a connector on the back of the CD changer had been pulled loose but it looks like it may be more complicated than that.
  3. Hello Folks, I have a 2004 GX 470 with the Mark Levinson sound sytem and navigation. I have the rear seat audio system but not the RSES. The nav unit under the passenger seat has "GPS Voice Navigation" on the front but does not have "DVD" anywhere. The DVD nav disc is version 3.1 (I am considering updating from Sewell this November when the '07 disc comes out). Is there a modification that can be done to this unit to get it to play DVD movies on the front screen in park? There is a new DVD player for a GX 470 for sale on EBay (Item #110130069642 if anyone is interested). It is the unit that goes in the console between the seats. I am pretty sure it is the one that goes with the RSES. I emailed the seller to see if I could substitute this one for mine but he said the connectors are completely different. I enjoy reading this forum and have learned a lot of helpful tips already. Any thoughts would be appreciated. :) Tim
