  1. Does someone have a procedure handy for bleeding/flushing the brakes?:whistles: 98 LS ..... TIA
  2. My battery is giving indications that it is holding very little charge :cries: .......... it must be replaced shortly ........ any suggestions other than getting a big mama jama? .......... Specifically CCA and number of months ......... or is it just as cost effective to get the best priced one and replace it more frequently? Any brands that are head and shoulders the best or ones to "look out for" and avoid? I'll be doing the swap out myself ........ who makes Pep-Boys brand? TIA
  3. What timing ........ ? I'm just getting around to doing this particular maintenance and this thread has been very helpful in getting prepared .............. lots of good info ......... great job guys ...... it helps to know there are folks out there with the exact same questions and such ......... and answers too. Long live the LEX
  4. AMEN Brother .......... it's the !Removed! ...... '98-'00 and don't look back.
  5. I'm flattered dcfish ........ glad you like the animated Lexus symbol ............. it's kinda neat to see someome else select something I made! I used a couple of digital editing programs and a .gif maker. Enjoy .....
  6. I also have 1990 Acura Legend LS and I know for sure that when the drivers side seatbelt failed to retract it was replaced for free ........... I clearly recall being happy at the time to find out that Acura is the ONLY manufacturer that does the lifetime warranty on seatbelts. :cries:
  7. Craig ...... does the repair involve electrical components or is it just a lubrication issue with the gear train?
  8. as Matthew has mentioned, it (electronically) reduces throttle response ....... it does not, however, start the car in 2nd gear. I use my "snow" button frequently when in slow and congested driving ......... it makes the car much smoother to drive and is easier on the car, the driver and MPG.
  9. What tire pressure are you running? <_<
  10. Meist21 .......... That reminds me ......... what bulb and holder did you end up using? I have stayed with the one I originally installed but a slightly whiter bulb would be nice. I just haven't found the right socket for it. It has a "G4" base. Anybody know who carries sockets for these bulbs? 98LS
  11. Premium alone is fine ............. any reputable brand. Glad to hear you are enjoying a fine machine ........... welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride .............. 98LS
  12. Let's see ........... Do you think it "is" the tires or something unrelated to the tires? If so .......... Make and model of tires? Cold air pressure? Any unususal wear patterns? If not .......... more clues please?
  13. Not that I am planning on doing it ......... but I would like to see some pictures of the install for the Gen III. I would think for a bike rack or a small trailer it would tow just fine ........... plenty of power, vehicle weight and RWD. Post some pics when you get a chance .......... :)
  14. Thanks for the tips .......... I'm going to do the differential soon so you saved me some cusin' with the heads-up.
  15. Interesting ........... Mine use to do the "Random Reset" routine as well and I got use to not using that function. What I have found recently, however, is a little step that seems to make it work and reset only at a fill-up time?;) What works on my car is to have the "Miles Since Refill" actually showing in the "Data display" when filling up the car and before leaving the pump and driving off ...... cycling through the available info screens and returning it to "Miles Since Refill" and mine resets as soon as I drive away, as it should. It’s been working properly and consistently when I do those steps. Give it a try. I’d be interested to see if works for you guys or is just a fortunate idiosyncrasy of my car? ----------------------------------------------- Also, relavent topic FYI .......... over on CL. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread...&threadid=69452
  16. What I really like about the anchored pedal is that it gives your right foot a solid/firm place to "rest" and it is less fatiguing since your foot is not having to "hover" it provides a more precise control feel. My wife’s ’01 ES300 has the unattached pedal. I prefer the large anchored pedal in the LS. :whistles:
  17. Hey K9crew ........ I'm not looking forward to this ......... thanks for the "Heads-up". Did they replace or repair the LCD panel? This pic is from the link above.
  18. austinls .......... I don't know how it is set up in the LS but ........... I had a faulty ground in my wife's 2001 ES and found that it was intermitent like you describe. The "ground wire" for the dome light was loose and the screw which attached the ground wire to the body needed to be tighted ....... you might want to check for a secure ground point?
  19. Here you go chercom ....... I think this link will answer all of your questions? http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...wtopic=4299&hl= Enjoy the ride ......... 98 LS
  20. I really enjoy the "Snow" setting when I'm in the mood to drive very smoothly around town and in stop and start conditions. It also reduces the "Surge Effect" many folks have described. When driving through the park on winding roads I downshift manually and use 2nd and mostly 3rd since the Big Lex will just roll and pickup speed so easily in "D" on a downhill. On the highway I use the "Power" setting since it more rapidly downshifts to "4th" and produces the desired results.
  21. I've played around with the pressure both up and down and have found that the "Recommended" pressure of 29PSI cold is the best all-around for my tastes. It gave me 27 to 28 MPG on a 1400 mile road trip down to the "Big Easy" and "Mardi Gras" festivities last week.
  22. Just wondering ............ Is there a typical milage (100k, 200k) that the front wheel bearings start to show signs of wear and should be replaced? :whistles: 98
  23. Bingo ............. !!! You're burning an awful lot of fuel just sitting in the driveway. 98
  24. Right on 99 ............... That's the way I'm going as well.
