  1. Coilovers are not available yet. There is R&D going on, though, so they are on their way. foofighter, The drop looks nice. Now, you just need some wheels to better fill out the wheelwell. ;)
  2. Please don't blame the manufacturer. Between you and your wheel dealer, the wrong size (width and offset) was put on your car. The GS can put 20s on all day long as long as the specs are correct. What are the offsets and widths of the wheels? What are the tire specs?
  3. YOU WILL GET MUCH BRIGHTER HID'S, IF YOU CHANGE YOUR CURRENT HID HEADLAMP TO A REGULAR HEADLAMP. MEANS TAKE YOUR HID LAMP AND REPLACE THEM WITH NON HID LAMP AND THEN INSTALL AFTERMARKET HID KIT AND YOUR CAR WILL BE REALLY BRIGHT. I HAVE THE SAME ON MY GS400 HEADLIGHT AND FOGLIGHT. AND MANY PEOPLE TURNS HEAD. ← Actually, I would advise against doing this. The OEM reflectors are different for the HIDs and halogen housings. Putting HID kits into halogen housings (which is what I have for now) is not optimal. The halogen reflectors are made to emit light differently than HID ones and will cause glare for on-coming traffic unless you point the lights down a bit more. The cutoff will also be diffused. IMO, Good - Aftermarket HID kit into halogen housing Better - OEM HID. Change out the bulb if you want different color output. I'd go with 6000k. Best - Retrofit HID projectors into the OEM housing.
  4. 1. You will notice a ride quality change. The 16s ride is very cushy. Going to 17s reduces the sidewall and you will get a change in ride. Handling should improve with the 17s but that will also depend on tire selection. 2. Chrome wheels tend to be heavier than non-chromes so there will be a performance change too. 3. All OEM 98+ GS wheels are interchangeable.
  5. Yes to both. :)
  6. In case you have not seen this, some live pics and some reading for you. :) http://www.clublexus.com/index.php/article...view/7475/1/10/
  7. Aftermarket kits are around $400 new. The pricing will also depend on the bulb output. $ goes up as the colorr temp goes up, although it also means light output goes down. OEM HIDs involve replacing the whole headlight housing. You will also need the ballast and bulb. This can range from 4-500 for used and $1k+ for new. If you buy from the dealer, then the cost is even more depending on headlight styles (clear, dark chrome, green chrome, SD black chrome, SD titanium).
  8. i think it means s**t out of luck? not 100% sure though LOL ← That's right. :D ← :) :D
  9. I think 6000k for a HID kit is perfect. The light is whiter with a hint of blue and you minimize light output loss. Here is an old pic of my car with 6000k:
  10. Yes, the switch came with the 98 model year (which was out in Fall 97 obviously ;)).
  11. I may be interested to talk with you in a few months. I will be moving down to SoCal by then which will make logistics much easier. :)
  12. Are you planning to mod the fenders?
  13. Some people will prefer the OEM look and feel while others like aftermarket. There are a number of options as far as aftermarket. dcfish can help you out with the OEM route. :)
  14. The adventurous ones mod the cars BEFORE the warranty goes out. ;) Many do it after. Even if it is before, only the warranty related to the mod is voided. Let's say you upgraded your stereo, Lexus cannot go and say your tranny went (if this became a problem) because of that. If they do, they'd have to prove that. On the other hand, if you upgraded the amp but kept the OEM speakers and end up blowing them, you are SOL. It is just part of the risk. :( ;) :D
  15. where is this place in Carson...that's only 5 minutes from me... ← I responded to your PM. :)
  16. I like this option. You have a luxury sedan for when you need something upscale and the RX for when you need a bit more cargo space. Both are reliable and safe. Sounds like a win-win to me. :)
  17. How far are you willing to go? I know a great place in Carson but I think that's about 40+ minutes from you.
  18. Hate to say it but if it was me AND if I cared about Feng Shui, I'd stay away from both. It is such a gray area that you will always wonder. I know this is potentially in the far future but there is also the resale. If you are having this much issues with it, there are others who are in you predicament too. When selling, you've already eliminated a whole bunch of potential buyers. How long has this house been on the market? If the seller is lucky, s/he will find a buyer who cares nothing about Feng Shui but I am sure the seller is already handicapped by the house location. When it comes down to it, if you can live with the issue, then do it. If not, then reduce the stress and keep looking. Trying to find the fine print definition to rationalize the purchase might get you into the house but if it is as important to you (and your family) and it seems like it is, it will come back to bug you later on. Just my .02. Good luck on the decision/search. :)
  19. Try this: http://www.tasteoflexus.com/
  20. It is pretty hard to adjust the height of coilovers with the wheel still on. Although coilovers give you the ability to adjust the height, it is not as easy as "pulling over on the highway and raising your car up in a few minutes." ;) If you need "instant" adjustability, you will need to look into air suspension.
  21. Since we are talking about 20s, in case any of you are interested, I am selling my 20s: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=23212

Just to make sure it is clear, the sample offset numbers are for the 2nd gen GS. For example, wheels with +25 will be outside the wheel well for the 2GS while will be accommodated (staying within the wheelwell) by other cars.
  23. Try www.l-tunedparts.com or www.luxurymods.com. They may not have these specific brands on their website but if you are looking for those specifically, I believe they can get them. The radiator cap is the same for GS300/400/430.
