Personally, I also think 20s are too big for the IS but eveyone has their own way of modding their car. ;) As for the rotors, 355 is also the biggest I know of for the IS. You can just get the front 355 kit from StopTech, though. No need for the 4-corners kit but the 4-corners one is nice. :)

Yes, what are the offsets of the wheels? Although the tires will fit, I'd be much more comfortable seeing the tires on 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 rims. I almost did the same thing you are doing on my 18x8, 18x9.5 rims. I backed out because there was just so much rubber (looks-wise). I went to 18s to get a bit more aggressive look and the larger sidewalls took that away. this is a personal preference though. You ride should be softer though. i can't remember where the borderline is (40 series, 35 series, ...) but many tire manufacturers make low-profile wheels with stiffer sidewalls. This makes sense since you have so much less sidewall, something has to help protect the rim integrity/wheel shape. The bad side of this stiffer sidewall is the stiffer ride. In addition, since there is less sidewall rubber, many owners with low-profile tires run higher PSI in their wheels. Again, this helps protect the rim but at the cost of a stiffer ride. It is the price you pay, though, to look good. ;) Oh, one more thing. With the tires you are running, you will be larger than spec. In addition to the slightly off speedo/odometer, you may rub when turning the wheels depending on how low you are. Also depending on your drop, your tires may also rub against the top of the inner wheel well if there is a big enough dip in the road to cause a big compression of your springs. Good luck.

How To ? Clear Out Amber In Taillights 98-04 Gs
Neo replied to Lex in Tex's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
Go here for the 98-00 clearing DIY (and a bunch of other good DIYs). http://lexusmodz.netfirms.com/ As for the 01+, it is nearly an impossible DIY, or at least cost prohibitive for a one-off and to be as clean as OEM. -
20s on an IS? Pics please. I've seen 19s on an IS and the tires are already pretty thin. How is the ride. I have 14" rotors on my 18" wheels and it is tight. I would assume then all else being equal, the biggest rotor you can fit in a 20" wheel is a 16" one. I don't know if there is an application for the IS with 16" rotors though.

Is There Any Other Lexus Forums Besides Lexusowner
Neo replied to YaYAReAGs3o0's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
Mike used to hang out much more on CL. Look at his post count there 6k+. LOL. I don't see him here much now either. Business must be good (or at least busy). :D -
Actually, get it form the horse's mouth ;) http://www.chp.ca.gov/html/answers.html No tint on front windows at all. So if you had tint in front, technically you broke the law.

Mine is also a 98 with almost 80k. Runs great!

Old on left, new on right.

I like the drilled myself, but I'm biased. :) Front: Rear: Excuse the rust. :( For normal (and some hard) daily driving, you should not have problems with drilled rotors. If you do heavy tracking, that's another matter.

Is There Any Other Lexus Forums Besides Lexusowner
Neo replied to YaYAReAGs3o0's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
ClubLexus I noticed you have a GS. There is more GS traffic on ClubLexus. I frequent both here and CL. Both are nice communities. -
No Prob. Sounds like you are enjoying the change. :)

Any Of You Have That Protective 3m Shield Film
Neo replied to bkchig's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
I use Zaino right over it. No problems. -
Fuse or battery, no need for both. I don't know the exact required time but I ususally do it for 15-20 minutes, sometimes longer. I'm either doing something else on the car or I go inside and do other things and come back later for it. The ECU learns your dirving style and adjusts to it. This just resets it to factory. You will notice the car respond quicker but eventually with a lot of stop and go and normal driving, the car will not be as "good". Then, it is time for another reset. :) Pulling the battery, you lose more settings. I remember that the clock, radio presets, seat/side mirror position memory are affected. (There may be something else I'm forgetting.) You may not lose the position memory if the ECU is pulled (vs. the battery). The fuse, I believe is the ECU-B that is in the passenger-side fuse box in the engine bay.

Any Of You Have That Protective 3m Shield Film
Neo replied to bkchig's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Go for it. I have it on my front end and have not regretted it. I have very few chips on the hood (where it is not protected) and the protected part is still pristine. Check to see what film they are using. The early 3M films (in case they still have some in stock to use) caused the paint to have a slight orange peel look. 3M just came out with a new film about 5 months ago that drasticallly reduced this. I have the early ones since I did mine a year ago. I'm also hearing of another film maker called Venture. These are supposed to have a lifetime warranty and no orange peel look. -
Haha. I have never even considered this as a potential problem. I don't see any skunks where I live. :D

Are they saying that the deposits are causing the interior condensation or what people think is condensation is really external deposits? The issue that I've seen is actual condensation on the inside of the housing. You can't do anything about this on the outside.

Windshield Replacement And Window Whistle
Neo replied to gus400's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
If it is an insurance thing, I'd push for Lexus OEM. If it is out of pocket, it is your call. The PPG glass is pretty good and I'vve heard no one complain about it. As for the "Toyota", you would not be able to get that anyway. All the new Lexus OEM glass says "Lexus" on it. -
Thoughts On L-tuned Struts For Gs300
Neo replied to slowmoe's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
I had the L-Tuned shocks and springs together and I liked it better than the stock. Float was virtually non-existent. I don't know how the struts would behave with the stock springs though. -
Lexus headlights have had periodic condensation problems. Since they are not cheap, if your car is still under warranty, go to the dealer NOW. All the incidents I have heard about got resolved by the dealer. If your car is beyond the warranty, forget it. Even though there were some success I have heard of, by far the response has been NO. So don't put it off. One of the issues that comes up though, is that if only one of your headlights have the problem, the dealer will more than likely only replace the bad one. If you have an older car, you will now have a new, clear, sparkly headlight on one side and an older, hazy one on the other side. :(

I know some of you Northern CA GS owners have asked me about meets in Northern CA. Instear of PMing all of you, I figured it might be faster to let everyone know. Note: The meet is for all Lexus owners. I did not spam the other forums since I was only contacted by GS owners about future meets. Reserve Sept 26th on your calendar. :) Nor cal EOS v.3

im sure u didnt mean anythign by that but i am vietnamese, i dont mean to say anything but someone might get affended, if it wasnt for the fact that i go around yelling obsene things, i would be offended, as my parents and my grandparants fought in vietnam, for there freedom, i wouldnt be right saying the same about america's fore fathers.... -joe nguyen Dude, unless you are from the viewpoint of the North Vietnamese, I cannot see Ho Chi Minh compared to the forefathers of the US. And unless the vietnamese reader (any vietnamese reader) is also from that viewpoint (communist, just pointing out, not making a judgement on the choice), s/he would not really be offended by a Ho Chi Minh put down. Sorry for the thread hijack. I won't pursue this line of conversation after this. I just wanted to give an alternative point of view. As for the L, although the "upside down 7" is not something that comes from the factory, I have seen wheels with this logo sold at Lexus dealerships. I personally prefer the OEM ones.

Replacing The Standard Radio With A Gps Unit
Neo replied to lordrader's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
There are basically 3 options for you: 1. 98-00 OEM Nav (HD based) 2. 01+ OEM Nav (DVD based) 3. Aftermarket All three options are doable but all are typically in the 2k+ range. If you are interested in option 1, under $2k plug and play, PM me. I just happen to know someone who is selling a system.
