Is Milpitas too far? I'm not sure what part of the BA you are at. If Milpitas is OK, give Exact Motorsport a try. I know a bunch of guys (including me ;)) who take their cars there.

The 265/35s will fit on the 18x10. It just may look a little more stretched and the sidewall will be a little shorter. It is better to use 275/35s on the x10 wheel. As for can you tell? Yes, especially if you use the 275s. I went from 265/35s on 18x9.5 to 275/30s on 20x10. I know the specs are different but from behind, I gained .5" with the rims while gaining 10mm with the tires. Obviously, the two gains are not independent but the .5" gain allows the 275s to mount a certain way. Looking from behind, I an totally tell how much meatier the tires are.

I don't think these come in 20s. :)

Wow, you plan on buying tires often huh? ;)

Fitment - 20s will clear the rotor size. The big clearance though is the calipers. What you need to find out is if your front wheels are high disk. Then the shape of the spokes come into play and lastly, to a certain extent, the offset can be a factor. As for the bracket, I do not know of anyone who has done it on their own. I'm not implying it is not out there, I just don't know. There is a Japanese company named Night-Pager that has done the R&D to build a bolt on rear TT setup but it comes at the price of about $1k. Pretty steep. The problem is that the bolts on the suspension knuckle is in a different position than the holes on the caliper. You'd have to get a bracket made to attach the two pieces. There is also some machining of the calipers to make them fit right. Before you start asking me for details on the bracket, I have not done this mod so I don't have much more details than this and definitely no measurements. I've only read about it from forums and the translated Japanese website. Here's the Night-Pager website if you want to do more research. Remember it is in Japanese, so unlss you can read Japanese or know someone who does, you'll need something like babelfish.

Are you talking both fronts and rear? The fronts will bolt on. The rear will not and will need custom brackets to be made. Now, the big problem is whether or not your wheels will clear. If you have OEM wheels, then the answer would be a No.

Try contacting your waste management company. Here in my area, they will send out containers to put oil in for recycling. Also, check with some auto parts store. The chain called Kragen's here lets you bring in the oil to recycle. Sorry I can't give specific info for your area. Hopefully, this will get you started.

How Much Body Kits Usually Cost For The Gs400
Neo replied to BallinOnABudget's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
I have not bought from them. I probably would not anyway since that kit is not my style. Anyway, I also noticed that you are from NorCal. See if you have time to come to this. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...howtopic=12282& Lots of fixed up cars including a bunch of GS. It is a good way to see the possibilities. B) -
First setup. +44/+48 are not that aggressive. You might want to stay with 275s in the rear though. The 285s will work but may need some fender mod and you said you did not want to mod.

Help With A Few Mod Questions..
Neo replied to Lex in Tex's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
For Tein CS, contact Todd at TMEngineering. Tell him Chris (Neo) referred you. (http://www.tmengineeering.net) For Rotora, you can contact Steve Ganz over at Carson Toyota. You may think they are clearing them out for the 6/4 setup but it is two different markets. There are people who will want the 6/4 (and can fit the 6/4) and there are others who can only do the 4 front. I don't think it is a "clearance" item so you won't be getting any deep discount because of that reason. It is the same with used. Unless the owner can fit a 6/4 setup or is willing to upgrade wheels too, people won't upgrade just because the 6/4 is available. Rotora is not even pushing it that hard. I've known about the 6/4 kit for over a year now and their online ordering site does not even reflect that the kit is available. :( -
Sorry. I would but I don't know specifics about the 1st gen GS to give you qualified help. (I have a 2nd gen.) I have heard though that the 1st gen is more accomodating for larger wheels than the 2nd gens. With that said, many 2nd gen owners run 8.5 fronts and 9.5 or 10.0 rears. I have seen some with 9.0 fronts and on occasion 10.5 rears. I know of 2 people planning to run 11.0 rears but there is quite a bit of customization of the car and wheels to accomodate this. Offsets will depend on which width. Hopefully, this will give you a start and extrapolate the info for your 1st gen. Maybe some 1st gen owners can chime in. Good luck.

How Much Body Kits Usually Cost For The Gs400
Neo replied to BallinOnABudget's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
You can get used kits for about $500 but again, these are the less quality, potentially bad fitting kits. $4k is about right for the upper range. Still, buying the more costly kits does not guarantee good fitment either. They are more likely to fit better but not always. There are not a lot of urethane kits around so you will most likely be looking at a good number of fiberglass kits. Many of the kits from Japan are FRP, which is a little stronger than fiberglass. Also, fiberglass comes in different grades too. The more expensive types are stronger but lighter. For most kits, you are looking at $1500 - $2500. -
Since it looks like you are in SoCal, try calling Carson Toyota. If you know the part numbers, they can get it for you at a cheaper price than the Lexus dealer. If you don't know the parts number, they deal with a lot of Lexus so they can probably get you the stuff anyway.

Wheel/tire Experts All Call...
Neo replied to MonStarr's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
Well, it is popular since it is the only real viable option. It is available for one thing. You can go with a smaller series tires. This will keep you in spec, but you will also be driving on "rubber bands". There are always compromises when modding a car. ;) -
Wheel/tire Experts All Call...
Neo replied to MonStarr's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
Sorry, no 4th grade explanation. It is a lot easier with visuals and instant question/feedback. But here is some info. 1. Look here on TireRack. It is a relatively simple explanation of offset. http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/offset.htm 2. Staggered setup Pros - Looks: Fills wheel well better since the rear is deeper than the front - Power: More rubber in the back of a RWD car = more grip Cons - No wheel rotation since front and rear sizes are different 3. Different front and rear sizes only come into play when you have a staggered setup. Because of the width of the wheels in the staggered setup (for example 8.5" and 10"), you have to get the right tire to fit that width while still maintaining the same outside diameter. 3 (again ;)) - This question should be re-phrased as "What is the best 20s setup?" since this is the size you want to go with. There is no optimal setup. But for you, I would suggest 20x8.5 +38 to +42 offset. This is rather conservative. It will rub very minimally in the front in some circumstances only. It will be recessed in the wheel well in the rear. If you want to go staggered, then change the rear to 20x10 +42 to +45 offset. I gave you a range of offsets. Obviously, the lower ones will be pushed out towards the fender more but you also risk rubbing a little bit. Some wheels don't have custom offsets so somewhere in the range would be OK. 4. I've never heard of RWD bolt pattern before. I have heard of the terms FWD and RWD offsets which are really only offset approximation. For example, the FWD offsets would be high like around +40 while the RWD offsets would translate to lower offsets like 0 or +20 ... As for bolt pattern, it translates to number of lugs x distance from wheel center to center of wheel lug. 5. See my explanation in 4. Since this is the case, nothing would happen to the car. Forget FWD/RWD, if the offset works for the car, it works for the car. -
The jury is still out on this aspect of the problem. The expletives were from messages posted by the "customer". The vendor claims that the customer "edits emails from LLS to make it look like LLS was being rude." It is still he says/he says as far as the rudeness goes.

How low is the drop with the L-Sportline? The offsets of your wheels seem OK. Depending on the drop, you may have some problems with full turns on an incline (like entering a driveway) where the springs are compressed. The taller setup is like having 20s in terms of outside diameter. You will also be out of spec in terms of your speedometer and odometer since the outside diameter is larger than the stock size.
-
What wheels do you have? Are your wheels high disk front and rear? What is the offset? With 20s, the 14" rotors will fit. This does not guarantee that the calipers will fit. Use this template to check your wheels: http://www.stoptech.com/wheelfitchart/PDF/98-517-2470-00.PDF You just need to paste it on cardboard or something hard, cut it out, and rotate it inside your wheels (both front and back since you want 4-corners). Obviously, you'll have to take your wheels off for this. :) Last I checked (but this was months ago), Rotora did not have a template for their 6/4 setup. They do have a template for the 4-piston front setup but it is not very good. I had to play with it to get the scaling right. In any case, it required a little bit less than the StopTechs so if the StopTech template works, you will be OK for the Rotora 4. The Rotora 6, however, is huge. When I compared their preliminary template, it was actually larger than even the Ap Racing 6-pot (front only). The Rotoras were also either the same or larger than the Brembos (also front only). Let me know how it goes. Once you decide, I can hook you up with some dealers. You are looking at a ballpark of 4k for front and rear big brakes.

Although I have not done business with LLS, I know people who has and no complaints. I have also known (via forum interactions) the people at LLS and have had no problems with them either. I was very surprised to find this thread and the problems the original poster had. If it came down to a he says/he says issue, I'd have to side with LLS's version of the story as it is more consistent with what I know of them. I hope the original poster got his bulbs and we can move on from this. As for the complaint on the service/no service issue, I think it is just a matter of semantics. LLS's core work is to retrofit/install lights into items: clusters, brake lights, ... I think that when they actually have to sit down and use their expertise, they refer to this as service. Selecting some bulbs and packaging it is just a straightforward thing that does not utilize their specific custom skills. This was then considered a non-service since it probably took 5-10 minutes to do everything (if at that). It was more of a parts order fulfillment. Anyway, like I said, I hope the original poster got his bulbs and will be successful in his retrofit attempt. Both sides have told their versions of the story. Potential clients can make up their own minds after reading through the thread and make the appropriate decisions.

New Gs430 Roof Spoiler Design From Lextasy
Neo replied to Steve@Lextasy.com's topic in Lexus Modifications Forums
This looks like the DSR roof spoiler. Is that where you are sourcing it? I've seen the DSR in person and am just wondering if this is a different choice we have for roof spoilers. -
Front and rear? StopTech has a 4-piston setup on all 4 corners. Rotora has a 6-piston front/4-piston rear setup. Fitment will depend on your wheels. The StopTech is more "forgiving" but you won't be able to put them on OEM wheels. I noticed you are in NorCal. If you have time, check this out: NorCal End of Summer Meet v.3 It is the biggest NorCal Lexus meet each year. Try and come. You'll see some BBKs in person. :)

Replacing The Standard Radio With A Gps Unit

As far as I know, your statement is true. My option list had to do with the original poster's 98 GS300.
