  1. Well, that really depends. I have a financial planner that I am happy to pay irregardless of whether or not I could do it myself, and I have a CPA that I am happy to pay irregardless of whether or not I could do that myself. Its not a question of being lazy, I'm too busy out making money to worry about watching my investments and making calculated moves or doing my taxes. They do a great job for me and I'm happy to pay them, doesn't make me lazy. SW03ES, Sorry, it is off topic. I need a financial planner in DC area, where I believe you are. Could you pm the info please. Thanks.
  2. I also feel that air flow in bottom as well as the back of the seat
  3. Did you have the parking brake on? I guess you need that you display video.
  4. You may view Consumer Report on this car at www.consumerreports.com. They look, test and rate every aspect of cars. They have rated transmission and quiteness etc. for this car as "Excellent". This is shown as the top car in the Upscale category of vehicles. Note that only a very few percentage of Lexus users patronize web forums, and mostly those who want to share their good or bad experiences.
  5. Were there any signs that thiefs are trying to start the enginer? Getting into car without a key is not difficult, AAA guys put a pry, inflate it with an airpump, and then insert a thin wire through small opening to unlock the car. This process does not damage or bend anything. I don't know if ES350 will open like that. This suggests to follow the rule to not leave anything in open view, and may be always lock the glove box
  6. Total screen blackout while driving is a bit too much lockout. Data entry or any user interaction lockout is understandable, but screen with map and car's position, direction of motion etc., should continue to display. Quick glance on where your car is, upcoming road curve and turn direction etc., are very useful. My ES350 is non-nav, I use Garmin nuvi and glance on the map every now and then, when at stop light, etc.
  7. Where do you meet in Mississauga? I am from Washington DC but frequently visit Toronto. I will be in Toronto on April 14, and would like to meet other ES350 owners.
  8. SE03ES, Do you know of any facilities in Arlington for hand car wash? I don't have facilities at my building, and I don't like rushed up 5 minute coin operated or other automated washes. Thanks.
  9. These are just gimmicks and tricks to extract additional money. Dealer exploits buyers mental state just after this big decison/expense where extra money to 'protect' the investment is seems small. They are not worth it. Just don't bother.
  10. It worked. You were right, it is button press time what matters. I re-visited the manual, and found that it is 5 seconds, not 15 seconds. It worked with ease. Thank you all.
  11. lol. Well I asked this as I have tried all possibilities unsuccessfully. Obviously there is some step missing/incorrect, or not too obvious. I am going see the dealer. Let me see if he succeeds in this simple task.
  12. Thanks. I will try using a stopwatch. When setting has changed "all doors are locked and then unlocked" to signal the change. Should that happen after unlock button is released, or when it is still pressed to signal that the button can now be released? Are all other steps in order? It is weird that such a simple thing should need that much clarification !!!
  13. For changing the function "open all locks automatically if driver door is opened within 15 seconds after turning the engine off" from On to Off, or Off to On, I do the following: (1) Close all doors, car is off, stick in "P" (2) Turn Ignition On (I hit Start button twice without pressing brake pedal) (3) Move Stick to "N" (I need to press brake to move it from "P") (4) Press door unlock button in the driver door for 15 seconds As per the manual, all locks will close and then open when setting is changed Nothing happens after step (4) - hold for 15 seconds, or more, or any length What am I doing wrong?
  14. SW03ES, You seem to be knowledgeable in LS/ES. In ball park how much does a 7 yr old LS cost?
  15. amf1932, You say that ES350 this is better than past ES models. Mine is first Lexus, therefore, I can't compare, but I liked my car. I am puzzled why some say that pervious models were better. Of couse, I find interior lighting inadequate, a cheap looking dash, etc. but overall car seems to be quite nice. I have glued small transparent matching sized plastic strips on garage door buttons. They don't change the appearance, but make it easier to find in dark (think braille).
