  1. I bought my 2002 Lexus used and it had excessive wind noise when I got it. it turns out that the grommetts are removed and they put in smaller ones regarding the side plastic pieces. The guy who I had re-replace the winshield (reccomended by the lexus dealer) said that he had actualy replaced the winshield in the car before. The last person did not follow the steps needed to even glue it in let alone put the molding back on. They also used a larger knife that was needed to remove the excess glue and cut into the interior trim arround the window :o . SO what I learned was from the installer is regarding the side molding on the winshield on the outside if the guys are good they will use larger grommets or they will actualy drill new holes and use screws to get that oem fit. I was not trying to get free lobster dinners or whatever the crap is that they give away for winshields these days. When it comes down to it if some one has a windshield problem regardless of where they bought the car. GO GET A REFERRAL FROM THE LEXUS DEALER FROM LEATHER TOUCH UP TO WINDSHILEDS TO WHATEVER does thier detail work. They have a reputation to uphold. SOOO if you just had some bozo replace it then tell them how it needs to be done and go to the BBB Unfortunatly if you have a wind noise and are reading this then thats probably what will need to happen. Best of luck
  2. Hi I am wondering if there is a big difference in cost between taking it to the lexus dealership and toyota dealership?? Besides beverages and a loaner car does it pan out??
  3. The cool thing about any lexus is that you can take the vin to the dealer (if they had serviced it there BIG PLUS BTW) and they can pull up all the service records! Hope this helps!!!!
  4. Ebay sells a kit that sticks on over the painted chrome for 25.00 dont know if this helps cheers!
  5. I have a 2002 LX and it had the windshield replaced (causing excessive wind noise), there are some parts that aftermarket installers do not have and there is a few parts needed from lexus. All OEM windows say lexus on them if you check out your windshield and is says some thing other than lexus. I would say, there is your problem! Hope this helps and have a great day!
  6. I live in the desert so, the belts tend to get cracked and or worn. I would do a visual on the belt and check for cracking and or wear, if so get it replaced also some lexus dealers extend out to 100 for the timing belt to break up the servicing so people are not hit so hard. Also if you want your belts seals and rubber to last longer use silicone spray. Also do not use wd-40 on anything because it will disinigrate any rubber over time (if you dont belive me take a baloon and spray it with wd-40 and it will pop within minutes). Good luck!
  7. Hi I just wanted to touch base. The lexus lineup does have that feature and it has to be hooked up to a computer at the dealership and programmed into the car. it should not requre any thing else, unless the car has no electronic door locks windows computer and so on (its a 2007 so I would see no problems there) . Hope this helps good luck!
  8. Hey the good news is if you go to the main lexus page and register your LX470 there is an option to get a copy by mail of the owners manual for your car. For some reason it states that for safty and so on that the car can be raised up the 2 inches when going 25- mph. the same applies for the lowering of the car. The function of both is to raise is then to be able to forge through water up to 22 inches or to lower for ease of getting into the car. Hope this helps, the car is so refined and designed a certain way that I am shure they had thier reasonings for why this is the case. ^_^ Oh and I forgot to mention the car is All Wheel Drive all the time and unless your forging the top of the most rugged trails. there will be no need to take it out of high. If its in N the car will not recive power to any wheels. Hope this helps ~ :) Oh and I forgot to mention the car is All Wheel Drive all the time and unless your forging the top of the most rugged trails. there will be no need to take it out of high. 9. Hi I am wondering if the only way my 2002 LX can be programmed for the door locks to engage when in drive and unlock in park is some thing the dealer can only do? Does anyone know also if the parking break wire is bypassed will the dvd still not come on when in drive. Thanks for all your help :-D.
  10. I just purchased a 2002 Lexus LX470 that does the same thing. Upon closer inspection the windshield had been replaced with an aftermarket windshield. If your windshield does not say lexus or toyota they probably missed a few parts that need to be on there that cause the wind noise. Not to say I can wait till my windshield cracks so I can take it to the dealer :-P lol jk. After I a while I just get used to it, but its not some thing that lexus is known for ie wind noise.
