  1. EVERYBODY WITH O2 SENSOR ISSUES LISTEN!! One drunken night I ran a whole can of seafoam through my 01 Lex IS300 intake, burning up two of my O2 sensors - B1S2 and B2S2. I found an ebay store with them for $60 a piece - direct fit, no splicing required - ordered them and have thusfar replaced 1 of them, which took me from 2 CEL codes to 1. Still trying to get the time to get that exhaust sensor harness, tho. GEEZ it seems it'll take a minute to do. Anyway, just wanted to suggest ebay to those in need. thanks to flyboy and all else who helped in this thread and good luck to all.
  2. Premium gas, right??? Just making sure, sorry
  3. What kind of plugs did you use?? Iridiums are required for the 01s - probly the same for yours. Go to the dealer for any parts for your car, in other words...just a possibility if you let a friend do your plugs he might've used platinums which will change how the timing works. This in turn can affect mileage
  4. Yeah, I am dealing with the same thing right now...been riding without a right headlight for a few months cuz of the cost of a new one. I ended up ordering a brand new headlight assly and HID computer on ebay...all shipped for less than $300. Way better than the dealer price fosho :D
  5. Okay, thanks. That's the info I needed to know. I don't remember what the exact code was but I can find out like tomorrow at work - I work at a shop :) Thanks again fellas
  6. You people do know you're not supposed to use anything but Toyota T-IV tranny fluid right? Anything else WILL cause problems, and let me explain why. Our trannies are more complex than a normal one, it's called a CVT - Constantly Variable Transmission. Basically it means it changes at different times on different roads, speeds, slopes, etc. even when the throttle position is exactly the same. This promotes efficiency with gas mileage and also makes for a totally smooth shift. About 10k miles after I bought my IS I found out that a Precision Tune in NC had put Dexron III in it and called them about it. The manager knew they had messed up and sent me a refund check for the replacement flush (with the right fluid) in the mail. Anyway, don't use Dexron anything in your IS. And if I remember correctly, T-4 is brown. I saw you put it was red and a red flag went up in my head. If you put Dexron in your Lexus, you will start having rough, slipping, or hesitated shifts, and who knows what else. That's what I felt before I caught Precision Tune's mistake and got it flushed with T-4. Now it's good to go, so STICK TO THE GOOD STUFF. Aka Toyota parts are the best :D GOOD LUCK
  7. Yeh I gotta get a good day to troubleshoot and find which one it is. But it's not running bad or anything for now so I'm not too worried. Thx for the help
  8. Thanks man I try :) I don't really wanna drop it cuz I like how it rides now. If I did tho I would go H&R Sports like on my last car. Great springs for the money and imo feel way smoother than my old eibachs. Bad thing about black rims is the fact that my 5% tint looks WAAAAY darker now :( cops beware lol
  9. Ok, I have been working on cars for a while, but this is something I've never heard of or seen. Apparently the O2 sensors on the IS have warmers that monitor engine temp and activate the sensors after warming up or something. Does anyone know how to fix this? My friend scanned it and said it looked like bank 1, but what do I do? Replace the O2 sensor? Any info would help. thanks
  10. Stick to Synthetic, lasts longer and helps keep the running temp of the engine down a bit. Also I've heard it's kinda hard on seals to go from synthetic back to conventional, just in case they did synthetic before. Yeah the filter is a pain to get out between the intake and wheel well. Never have really figured that out yet
  11. Maxxim Guilt 17x8 38mm offset I think BFG G-Force Sport 215/40/17 (Z-rated stick REAL good ;) Stock suspension No rubbing crappy cell-phone pic...
  12. Yes, fuel injection does cause several problems if the tank runs dry or low. If an air bubble gets in the system it will cause a mere misfire or hiccup, though, not thecar to stall. You may have had sediment in the fuel pump, locking it up and restricting the right amount of fuel to the engine. I know that it is a VERY bad idea to fill up at the pump if there's a refill truck, as the truck dumping gas in the underground tank stirs up all the sediment - sand, dirt, pebbles, etc. - at the bottom. In other words, if you see a gas truck at the gas station, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE UNTIL THE NEXT DAY. Hope this all helps, keep us updated.
  13. Wife discovered it too? Good for almost anything. :D I've always liked Mequiar's for the regular go to the store and buy supplies people. I mean Zaino is supposed to be good but I have never seen it in the store, just online Anyway Meguiar's is at Advance and they make interior and exterior polishes/waxes, etc. All very good stuff, too
  14. I have heard this, too. Also, it would be quite hard to see the leak even if dye is used, as it will be below the compressor. I would probly try having them jack the car up for the leak-down test and look under the car for the bubbly :D Good luck, man
  15. Yeh, fabbing wiring harnesses for most apps is fairly simple. I have to do the same thing for my fog light since I hit a tree in the road awhile back and it destroyed my bumper, fender well, foglight wiring. Anyway, I plan to just use 2 negative blade terminals - the kind you use for speaker wiring - and just slide the blades on the light bulb to get a good connection. Pretty simple this way, and it should work for you, too ;) good luck
  16. Hella nice pics. Very sharp IS/Altezzas all around. No Blue ones, though?? Apparently I need to join to complete the spectrum :)
  17. So did you ever find out what it was? I'm thinking maybe a wheel speed sensor or trac sensor. Possibly got disconnected at some point and still needs a reconnect. Just an idea...:D
  18. I don't know about this listing, but I DO know the ebay has certain companies - especially in the auto industry - that you DO NOT want to buy from under any circumstances. One of these is SS autochrome, that uses garbage charge piping and junk turbo parts. Other than that, good luck on the setup :D
  19. Why would you want to get rid of the push-button auto tranny on the IS? That technology is so awesome, I never get tired of shifting with it. Also, you do know that Turbo is better for an automatic tranny, right? With auto there is no shift-lag cuz your pedal stays to the floor and boost doesn't drop. Just dropping some info in case you didn't know. Good luck whatever you do :D
  20. Good deal. I was thinking we should get some Lexus folks together around where I live. I just like to see what ideas people come up with for body kits, paint, exhaust, engine upgrades, etc. I guess that's the point of meets....and carclubs
  21. Ok, somebody needs a some new bifocals... hehe jk Def 5-lugs tho. Got a pic of your 20s on the car?? I was gonna get some split 5- or 6-spokes if I could find some at a good price
  22. Wow I never heard that was even usefull on these cars, as I was told they re-learn and modify maps every time you start the car. I do know that resetting the ECU was a must on my old turbo Civic Thanks for the help smooth
  23. Hi Everyone. I have worked at Tire Kingdom for about 6 months and am now getting promoted to manager there, so let me let you all know how it is. It is VERY possible to wear through tires in 10k miles, depending on how you drive, what roads you're on, the psi you run them at, how good your alignment is, and also how often you rotate. You should rotate them about every 6k miles, by the way. Another thing is the speed rating on the tires. The higher the speed rating, the softer the rubber...so the faster they will wear out. Get an H-rated tire and you can expect 40k from them on with decent care. Z-rated you're lucky to go 25k. Anyway, as far as brands go: Goodyear is crap, Michelin is overrated crap, Fuzion is hot-crap, Dunlop is supercrap...so on and so forth. Go with a Sonar(Pirelli), Yokohama, Uniroyal (for trucks), or Fulda and you should be good to go with a good warranty. Sumitomos are okay as well, but I prefer Sonars myself. My ride feels brand new after putting some 225/45/17 Sonars on the rear recently. Anyway, hope I've been helpful. Ya'll ride safe and keep your psi around 35 for good traction and wear.
