  1. I am a designer by profession, and debated on the exterior, but was sold on the absolutely unmatched interior. I replaced the runflats as needed, and the ride is comfortable. Everything works. In short, the SC430 is a car primarily built for successful gentlemen who seek a refined car without the mid-life crisis personna of a Porsche or the pretense of a Bentley. The 430 gets noticed for the desired reasons. Exceptional car. I also have an SL, and love it too, but prefer the 430 for general driving.
  2. In my experience with my 2002 SC430, people either love the body style or hate it. I have never seen anyone in the middle on this topic. As others have stated, the ride quality GREATLY improves once the run-flat tires are ditched. I recently had the original tires replaced with regular tires and it was if I had a different car. Driving performance is ok, the SC430 handles well in normal driving but don't expect it to be a pocket rocket. The SC430 is incredibly reliable, other than an O2 sensor and normal wear items my SC430 has always started up and run silky smooth. The power is good and delivers decent acceleration but again don't expect to blow a mustang away.. Personally I love my SC and have been pleased with it since I bought it in 2006
  3. I went through this whole process of considering replacement of the runflat tires. Finally decided a year ago on the Michelin Pilot A/S tires. Had Discount Tire replace them as they were knowledgeable about the Lexus model. Have enjoyed driving without the jarring bumps. An amazing difference vs. runflats. Works perfectly on same rims, easy changeover. And well worth the money.
  4. I'll just ask this, I have no owners manual. Where can I find out how to set my Driver's position memory seats, how to change my home location in my nav, all the stuff you want to do with a new car? I've searched the forum, but most posts have to do with problems or wanting to do things a different way. I just want to know how to do the basics. I've signed on to the Lexus site and seen the partial owner's manuals, but they don't answer my questions. Where can I go to find detailed instructions on the operation of all the gizmos? On your door there are buttons for setting all the positions. Just press L1 and set together (at the same time) and I believe your settings will be instilled. Regarding your NAV, when you are at your home location, turn your NAV system on and push "mark", which will mark your location. I'm no expert at this, but that's my experience in working with my SC. Hope it helps. B
  5. Thanks for your info. I intend to follow your example when my run flats need replacement. I was at Costco today, and their price for the Michelin Pilot Sport AS+ is $269.99. This includes mounting, balancing, and rotation for the life of the tire. I checked with Costco and they gave me a bit of a hard time about replacing run-flats with non-run flats without a spare. I don't have a spare, so am at the mercy of the road and would have to call AAA with a flat. Some folks say they are carrying the tire-seal product, but I believe the Discount Tire warranty is voided is the premature flat is "fixed" with a tire seal product. Anyway, all food for thought.
  6. Unfortunately, yet also fortunately, my run flats finally needed replacing. I had been reading the tire related postings for months and perusing the tire company info online about the possible tire options. My old Bridgestone Potenza (I think) run flats lasted about 23,000 bone-shattering, teeth gritting, headache-inducing miles. I chose the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires as replacements from Discount Tire. They were in the upper price range at about about $350/tire installed with new everything and a 45K mile warranty. Discount Tire was familiar with the installation process for the SC model. The transformation in the quality and smoothness of the ride has been unbelieveable. To me, this change has made an good car now nearly perfect. I'm sorry I waited so long, but wanted to get every centimeter of wear from those expensive run flats before changing. But what a difference these tires have made.
