  1. I recently replaced the right rear wheel bearing - part cost $136.67 from the service center. You probably could get for cheaper. But other than that, you might want to look into the lower control arms - I have had some squeaking, and they too can cause that. But get a second opinion on this one, cause this is an expensive affair. I just got this done on my car, which has almost 140K on it. Both the lower front control arms with labor cost me $1500. Thats a lot - although you can get the two together on ebay for about $800. Look up Carson Toyota and do some searching on ClubLexus.com. There is much more useful information over there in regards to anything. I got a pair of brand new Toyota Supra control arms for a hair over $500, about $250 each. And they are a wonderful upgrade to the oem SC control arms, it helps with the steering response quite a bit. I installed them myself so it only ran me the cost of parts total. But to me, it really sounds more like the wheel bearing since even when my lower control arms were shot, it didn't make any kind of noise other than the thunk it makes when going from reverse to forward.
  2. Wow, my cost of a Toyota oem rack replacement is $280 brand new.. talk about markups. And FYI, anyone else who gets this shop done, should track down a good Toyota/Lexus independent shop to do it. These are the prices you should aim for: Rack & Pinion NEW, not rebuilt: $280 PS Pump: $180ish PS high pressure hose: $320 Return hoses: $15 ATF fluid for ps system: $8-15 Labor: $200 apprx Alignment: $55-75 Total should run about $1,200 at most.
  3. If the vinyl isn't torn yet, you can fix the plastic yourself. I just took both my door panels yesterday and used plastic weld along with bumper filler/repair to bond the cracked areas. It should prevent future tearing.
  4. Hey everyone, I'm new to the board. Just picked up a clean 92 SC400 recently and noticed that the left corner lamp didn't light up when I turned on the left turn signal. I found the part number but is an alternative solution to buying the bulb at the dealership? I have searched and can't find the exact bulb type it uses unless it's special just for Lexus cornering lamps.
