  1. So my 95 sc300 has decided to loose it's mind a little. Driving down the road while it was starting to get dark. I turned on the parking lights (first setting on the head light switch). I assumed the parking lights came on, but they didn't. It got a little darker so I turned on the headlights (second position on the switch) and got nothing. I rarely use the "Auto" setting for the headlights, but out of desperation I flipped the switch onto Auto, and I got all the lights. High and low beams work, the parking lights come on, everything. I spent the rest of the evening testing and replacing relays and fuses. I even whipped out the Lexus Electrical service manual/diagrams and from the best I can tell, all the pieces of the circuit are functioning correctly. Anyone else had this issue? It acts like the entire circuit for the lights is dead except for the "Auto" setting. I'm stumped.
  2. My wife came home complaining that her coupe died every time she came to a stop. And said that when she restarted the car, put it in drive, that it didn't seem to have the power it should, but it would eventually go. I took the car for a drive, and it's obvious to me that the transmission is confused. The reason it's shutting down at a stop is because it's not down shifting. And sure enough taking off it feels like it's in second or third gear. I can drop it into low manually and it pulls like crazy, and shifts into second when I bump the shifter forward. Now, when shifting to drive it feels like it shifts all the way to overdrive (if I have it on) immediately. The transmission pulls very strongly with no slipping. The speedometer is working, and there are no codes flashing. It also exhibits the same symptoms in "Power" or "Ecomomy" modes. My first reaction is that a Speed Sensor is bad, and is either not sending, or is sending bad data to the computer. It also seems that the power door locks have stopped, I can hear the relay under the dash, but neither door solenoid will work. I would hate to have to ditch this car and buy her another one, because this one has been so reliable. But I can't have it breaking down on her. Any clues would help. Thanks.
  3. Yep, I can see and have removed the bolt covers, with no problem, the problem is, that the upper part of the seat rail is covering the bolts and the seats won't move to expose the bolts. From all I can gather, I will have to disassemble the seats completely and turn the "traverse" motor by hand. I'm not looking forward to this, but it appears to be my only option. Thanks.
  4. Thank you for responding, I've checked all of them, and unless there is some unseen break in the wires, they're getting power from the fuse box. I'm going to pull them out and go a little less luxo and a little more sport. I have a pair of '95 Supra tan leather seats in great condition. I'm going to have to hack away at the seats until I can get to the bolts. The seats in the car are worn out anyway.
  5. Greetings all. I have a 1995 SC300, that has a couple of dead seats. I was going to remove them today but realized that in their present position I can only get to the front bolts. Is there an emergency release? Or a way to move the seats forward, if the motors are dead? There is either no information about this or I can't find it. Thanks in advance.
