  1. My plastic ignition key shell broke. I want to buy a new shell, epoxy the old metal key to it, then put the old electronics into it. Where can I buy the new shell for this purpose? About two years ago, I read a post on this site that described how this was done, but now I can't find it. Searching on the word "key" won't work because search terms require a minimum of 4 characters. Does anyone know how to find such a post?
  2. I don't know where mine were made, but they have 42,000+ on them and are they're going strong. They aren't as soft as the OEM, but they ride OK... a little firmer, slightly more road noise, but not at all notible after driving them for a few days. Most important to me is that they've gone about 12,000 miles farther than OEM and have little noticeable tread wear. If they're still making this tire when mine finally wear out, I'll get another set of them. You bought good tires.
  3. Thanks, Billy and Karl, Sewell is a good link. For $57 they'll cut me a new key and let me use my old electronic module in it. It seems a little steep, but it's a whole lot less than a new key to cut AND program a new electronics unit. The ~$20 black plastic shell on eBay (no key blank needs to be cut...you can re-use the old metal key and electronics) would work even cheaper, but I need a way to securly connect (epoxy?) the old metal key into the new shell. I have a vague recollection of seeing a post about a year ago where someone provided info on how to do this. Can any one recall such a post? Thanks once again, Jeff
  4. While turning the ignition key to start my 2004 RX330, the black plastic handle cracked and broke. How/where can I find a replacement pastic part? Thanks, Jeff
  5. The fellow who asked the original question (are RX's for old people and/or women?) may be missing a big point: Half of the population are women and people over 40. Most 20 - 40 year old males cannot afford a LUXURY vehicle of any type, but for those who can, they generally buy whatever floats their boat. Everybody has their own criteria, and the choices are many. The "macho" look is but one criteria. I bought my '04 RX330 for several reasons. First, because , at age 59 (yes, I'm an "old" guy) I have knee problems, the higher seats make getting in and out easier than a sedan. Much easier. Second, at my age, I can now comfortably afford to buy a $50K vehicle. Third, it gets me where I want to go in comfort, is inexpensive to operate and maintain, and fits in respectably with the Mercedes, BMWs, and other Lexus models at the county club. I can pretty much afford to buy whatever vehicle I want, which is what I did.
  6. The sun visor (driver side) on my RX330 has a different problem. When I position it to shade sunlight coming in thru the driver's window, it has the annoying habit of rotating at its attach point and smacking me in the head whenever I make a left turn. The centrifugal forces making it do this are slight... I'm not making hard left turns. The solution is to find a way to increase the friction of the visor where it attaches to the roof of the vehicle. Is there a way to do this without the expense of replacing the entire assembly?
  7. Thanks for all of the advice. I tried pressing the glove box button with no luck, then manually opened and closed the door. That worked! Thanks for the help! :) JMorton
  8. The rear power door/hatch on my 2004 RX330 quit opening. Whether I try to open it using the key fob or the button on the dash, it won't open. Last week I replaced the battery (myself) and wonder if some kind of "reset" is required to overcome the power interruption after changing batteries. I'd hate to pay the dealer big bucks to fix something simple. Does anyone know of a simple fix? JMorton
