  1. Considering a 2010 RX and wondering if an exteded 7 year 70,000 mile warranty is available? If so, about how much. Lastly, any expected changes to 2011 that should be hitting ground in next couple months?
  2. Thanks. Is the key fob for the smart key programmable (i.e. can you program it so that is does or does not lock doors as you approach car, etc. etc.)? I assume with the smart key it is very possible to park, get out of car, and forget to turn off engine or is there something that can be used to prevent this - i.e. does engine shut off and doors lock if smartkey gets more than 10 feet from car, etc. etc.? And for guys, where do they end up putting the smart key - not like we have purses and personally, I don't like anything in my front pockets when I drive. I could see parking, getting out of car without key, walking away and seeing someone get into car and driving off. Seems like a bad feature - you put house keys on keychain, etc. etc. and now you have to find someone to put them in the car so they don't rattle the entire time you are driving. Doesn't sound like I would like the semi-aniline leather...too bad I can not get the retractable side mirrors without the semi-aniline leather. I would like to have retractable side mirrors but don't want to spend the extra $2500 to get the luxury package so I can get the retractable side mirrors which is the only thing I really see useful as part of the luxury package.
  3. Thanks..another question would be how the 'remote push button start' works. Do you have to use this feature or is there actually a place to put the key? I don't like walking up to a car and having it unlike doors when I get close enough. Hopefully this can be disabled. I also don't like stopping, putting in park, forgeting to push off button and getting out of car with it running. I would like to make it so if you pull the key out the car shut off. I guess more questions for the dealer.
  4. I test drove an RX350 today and my wife and I really liked it. We are probably going with every option except luxury package and have a question about available 19" wheels. I see per the catalog you can get 19" 7 spoke alloy wheels or 19" 7 spoke superchrome wheels. Is there a charge for the superchrome wheels? Also, I see as part of the luxury package, semi-aniline leather is part of it? What is this and is it really any nicer than the 'normal' leather? Thanks!!
  5. Are there any differences between '08 and '09 GS350's? Secondly, when you purchase a CPO do you get the remainder of the 4 year / 50K mile new car warranty? If I buy a 2008 with 12,000 miles, do I still get the new car bumper to bumper warranty until 2012 or 50,000k AND then get another 2 year or 50,000 mile CPO warranty after expiration of the new car bumper to bumper warranty? I have read the literature on the Lexus forum and it is unclear if you still get the new car warranty until it is up when you buy a CPO Lexus. Thanks!
  6. Anyone think that Lexus will ever off the GX470 with a 2wd option or an ability to at least turn off 4wd??
  7. Does the back seat fold down to increase trunk space? Secondly (and I may get it for this)....has anyone installed a trailer reciever on a GS? I need it just for a bike rack I have...or I can get the 'sedan' type bike rack...
  8. How much below MSRP are dealers really willing to go...I was getting quotes for around $4000 off MSRP on a RX350..but now considering GS350....thanks!
  9. Is there a major re-design of the RX350 planned for 2009? I can not wait until next year to get a car and not sure I want to get an RX350 if there is a big change planned for 2009...I believe I recall reading that the '09 will get a little bigger and allow for 3rd row seats, is this correct?
  10. Anyone have any blind spot problems with RX350?
  11. Your pricing without the entertainment system looks good. What state is your dealer in? As for the entertainment system you can do what I did, I went to Target and purchase a DVD bag for $25 that hangs on the back of the front seat that holds a small DVD player ( the DVD player does not come with it). It also comes with 2 headsets and my daugther loves it. Another thing is that it does not block my rear view mirror. Located in Texas....so $44K out the door without entertainment is a fair deal? I know some people are getting upwards of $4000 off MSRP and that is what I am shooting for...at $44K it is about $3000 off MSRP. Thanks for the DVD bag idea...that will work with whatever vehicel I decide to go with...thanks!!!
  12. If I understand you correctly, they are willing to go 4K off MSRP? Depending on what options you're getting, that's NOT bad at all. I purchased my 2008 RX350 3 weeks ago. I live in the Atlanta area but emailed all of the Lexus dealers in the SouthEast. Some wanted MSRP and one even wanted $5000 over MSRP. I learned the sale talk regarding the car. With the nav sys and prem. plus package there is a 44416 with the seven spoke wheels, and a 44306 with the 5 spoke wheels. The numbers are the MSRP, $44416. After a week of emails there were about 5 dealers still in the game. The dealer 6 miles from my home where I purchased my RX300 was $700 over the out of state dealer where I purchased my new RX. For a 3 1/2 drive to Nashville I same $700. The only difference between the 2 cars was that my car have the 5 spoke wheels, this was an oversite on my part but my wife didn't like the 7 spoke wheels any way. Including dealer prep cost my drive our on a car with the MSRP of $44306 was $40399 plus tax. If was want to ever the playing field while shopping for a car you can do as I did, go to Comsumer Report online and pay $14 for a report on the pricing of the car. The dealer should make between a4% and 8% margin on the sale. According to CR my dealer made 6.5%. Your guy came off $3900 off MSRP and your drive out was probably right at $43K (including tax)....my guy is coming off right at $4000 so it sounds like he is in line and will make about 6% on the deal..right in the middle which works for me......I may ask him to take out the entertainment package and re-quote (try to save another $1000)...but that will depend on how I feel that day.
  13. I am a little confused...looking at the RX specifications vs. the GX specifications, I am surprised to find the following: The RX actually has more HP than the GX even though it only has a 6 cylinder. GX does have more torque with the V8. The RX actually has more front row leg room and front row shoulder room than the GX... The GX does have slightly more front seat headroom. The RX also has more cargo volume.... All of the above really surprised me as the GX is the big brother to the RX. Any thoughts?? Thanks!

  15. Here is my latest quote (right at $4000 below MSRP which is about $1000 over invoice from what I can tell) $44,070.14 out the door - (includes all charges, desitnation ($715), sales tax ($2575), invoice tax($113), license and title fee($127), doc. fee($50), deputy fee($5)): - 2WD - Premium Plus Package (PT) - Towing Prep Package (TO) - Entertainment System (EY) - Navigation System (NV) - 18" 7 Spoke Wheels (FV) - Heated Seat with Rain Sense Wipers (HH) - Wheel Locks (WL) - Tax and any fees, etc. + $400 for hitch. Any thoughts????? Thanks! UPDATE TO THE ABOVE QUOTE - The price DOES NOT include the entertainment system. I really don't want it, but at that price, it should include it.....the dealer and I am about $1000 apart on pricing. I would take the above without the entertainment system for $43K out the door, but not $44K.....buying a new car is exhausting and I have not even stepped out of my home yet....
  16. If I understand you correctly, they are willing to go 4K off MSRP? Depending on what options you're getting, that's NOT bad at all. I just got a quote that is very close to $4K off MSRP within a couple hundred so I am getting close to where I want to be...a couple hundred isn't going to be a deal breaker but it all adds up in the end......I simply advised the dealers that I wanted to finalize pricing before even stepping on the lot...some dealers said no and others started sending pricing. One has been particularly helpful and from what I can tell, actually taking time before replying with new numbers realizing I am doing a lot of research....he even has quoted me the new 7 spoke wheels which I didn't think were readily available..
  17. $2000 over invoice...that sounds great as the guys I am currently dealing with through the interent aren't even coming off $4000 off MSRP....anyone else get close to invoice on an '08?? I do notice that on Edmunds and KBB that there is a BIG gap between invoice and MSRP on these Lexus'....
  18. Thanks all...after reading, I am considering the following: '08 2WD Navigation Entertainment Premium Plus Package Trailer Package 18" Wheels (5 spoke or 7) MSRP for about is around $45K....what should I shoot for for price +TTL? I see some people are getting upwards of $5000 of MSRP when they are buying. Thanks!!!
  19. Was considering a GX470, but a couple things about it I don't like. Now looking at the '08 RX350 I am considering it and have a few question. Is it just me or does the '08 (especially with the new 18" 7 spoke wheels) have a little more of a 'manly' look than the '07? I have always considered the RX a little feminine, but now I seem to be changing my mind..... I living in Houston and we RARELY have snow, but we do get some good rain showers. Any negatives to getting AWD except the 1mpg penalty on mileage and the supposed 0.1 sec slower 0-60mph time? Anyone have any experience with the Performance Package (air suspension and triptronic tranny)?? Lastly (and unfortunately this may be the killer for me)...anyone 6'5" driving an RX? I am 6'5" and drove an '07 RX last holiday season and it seemed to have sufficient leg room and head room, but I know just about all RX's come with a sunroof and I have read some people with long legs don't have sufficient leg room....anyone experience this? I am currently getting internet pricing from Houston dealers ranging between $1000 - $2000 off MSRP depending on option package (more costly, bigger discount). How far below MSRP will they really go??? Trying to avoid the navigation system and Mark Levinson (just too $$$$ for me) but am considering the entertainment system...any thoughts? Lastly, any tote kids (or adults) around in the back seats with front seats back all the way?? Thanks!!!!
  20. Any rumored changes to the 2008 GX470? I would love to see a 2 wd only option (or at least option to turn off full time 4wd) and a rear lift gate/lift glass instead of the swing gate!
  21. Any changes expected for 2009 GX470? It looks like I will be staying in Italy for around another year so will be looking to buy in January/February of 2008....any changes expected for 2008/2009 GX470's (perhaps a lift gate tailgate option instead of the 2007 swing gate design)?
  22. Thanks.....as I am looking to buy in February, I might be able to get a great deal on a 2007 RX350....
  23. Drove an RX350 yesterday and was very impressed. I know there may be some changes in 2008. Have there been any consistent nagging problems/rattles, etc.?? I can't stand interior rattles, etc. and my brother has a Lexus sedan with 30K miles and referred to the two loaner RX's he had were 'rattle traps'.....
  24. Anymore information regarding the size of 2008 RX350? If this is true, I would definetely hold out for a 2008, assuming they will actually be on lots in February 2007..... Early rumors involved getting a third row seat which may mean a larger wheelbase. Hopefully the new DFI V6 and a variable displacement ATF pump (as a final fix for the 99 shift pattern change/revision) will be in the mix also. I rather doubt we will see a VSC cutoff but a "trac" off capability is highly likely.
  25. Thanks for all the information. I actually drove an RX350 yesterday and for some reason, I actually felt more comfortable in it..... I also like the fact that the RX is two wheel drive. In Houston, no need for full time four wheel drive and with the price of high octane gas is a deciding factor. Lastly, does the way the back on the GX470 bother anyone else?? Why did Lexus make the RX and LX open the 'correct' way and made the GX open the way it does? It just seems inconvenient to not be able to open the back if you have your garage door down or if you parallel park and someone is parked such that you can't open the rear...just seems like a mistake to me but maybe someone convince me otherwise....btw, a local dealer has a brand new 2006 GX470 on the lot he is willing to sell for $44K...
