  1. Hey all, my front passenger door lock actuator died today. I want to replace it myself but could not find a DIY procedure. Can anyone reply with link(s)?? I replaced both rear actuators in my old GS but I have not yet replaced a front unit. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Josh
  2. I just spoke to the Internet sales guys at Sewell Lexus (what I should have done in the first place because they are the best!) and they are almost certain the SC wheels will work on my LS. Anyone disagree? Thanks.
  3. I photo-shopped into a pic of my LS the SC430 wheels and it looks pretty bad !Removed!. I may pursue it, if I can get an amen that they will fit. Anyone?
  4. Hey all. I cannot stand the 17" six spoke wheels that came on my 2004 LS430. I have been watching on Ebay for the 18" wheels that came with the LS in 05 and 06 but cannot find any used. Anyway, I came across a couple of sets of used 2005-2007 SC430 wheels chrome in decent shape. One seller says they'll fit my LS and one says they will not. Who is right? I called the dealer and they have no idea (worthless). Can anyone tell me if this fitment will work on my car?? Has anyone tried it? And, does anyone have a pic with this combo?? Thanks in advance. The Josh PS - if anyone has the LS 18" 5-spoke wheels they want to sell, I am listening...
  5. I tried to search but could not find anything. Does anyone know how to do this?? Also, are the replacement bulbs 9006's??
  6. Anyone ever deal with "Wheels and Caps" out of Florida for used wheels?
  7. Mine are the 6-spoke 17s. Geez, how would we work it?
  8. Hey all. Glad to be here. I just bought my 04 LS430 today. What a car! The only thing I want is a set of the OEM 5-star rims. Used in good shape is fine. Anyone know where I can get a set on the cheap? Thanks. Josh
  9. All, I need some help. My wife and I looked at an 04 GX today and fell in love with it; 90k miles with every option for $18,500. Need some advice - what are the common problems with these cars? Anything i need to be concerned with on a Lexus with this many miles? Please let me know. Thanks in advance... JL
  10. DCFish, I need the LCD info as well. 2000 GS300 Platinum. Can you hook me up? jlee429@bellsouth.net Thanks so much The Josh
  11. OK, I searched and could not find the procedure to replace the fronts. Both rear actuators have been replaced. Can someone post a link to the procedure for the fronts?? Also, is it that common to have ALL actuators die like this???? Thanks in advance. Josh
  12. All, I am currently the proud owner of a 2000 GS300 with 130k miles on it; and I must say that I do happen to love the car. But, I got the bug and am considering upgrading to a 2004 or 2005 LS430. What do you all think? Is it THAT big of a step up?? The LS430 is a damn good-looking automobile. Need some feedback... The Josh
  13. All, we drove my wife's 2002 RX300 from SC to WV over the weekend. The next day, it threw 3 fault lights at me (Check engine, VSC and Trac off). We are home now and the lights are still on. It runs fine though. The VSC and Trac Off lights only come on after the engine is started and has been running for about 5 seconds. Any ideas? My shop wants $30 just to clear the code. Anyone have the same issue after a long drive?? Thanks in advance, The Josh
  14. Hello all. My wife loved my Lexus so much she had to have one too. We bought a 2002 Rx300 with 37k miles on it over the weekend. The car is in perfect shape and appears to have had all of its maintenance. By the way, it is a 2WD. A quick question though: has anyone had luck using transmission additives on these cars like Lucas? From what I have read, it is the AWD cars that have issues, right? Or do 2WD suffer from the same issues? Thanks.
  15. OK, I did a search but found nothing on this. Has anyone used the Lucas products in their ride? I have a 2000 GS300 with 114k miles and am going to have the engine oil changed and tranny flushed. I was considering using the Lucas additive in the tranny. Anyone try it? Any other additives used by anyone with positive results? I put Seafoam in the gas and cleared up a sticking injector (I think). Good stuff. Thanks in advance... The JOSH
  16. I bought a 2000 GS300 in January and my wife wants an RX now. I searched the forums and found many RX's with problems. My GS is pretty much trouble-free. Should I stay away from the RX? What are the most trouble prone areas in the RX??? Thanks. The JOSH
  17. I guess all I want to do right now is install a K&N air filter. Anyone know the part number? Also, I need a new key. I hear they are pretty expen$ive. Who sells 'em cheap (if that is possible)? Thanks all, The Josh
  18. New to the board. Bought mine with 112k. Runs like a champ!
  19. He all! I am new to the board. Yesterday, I bought a 2000 GS300 in almost perfect condition. It is quite a machine. It has 112k miles already but from what I have read, that is not too many for a car like this. I cannot believe how well built it is! Where do I start with some cheap mods? Thanks. The Josh
  20. Still new to the board. All of my friends, and my wife as well, are telling me that while Lexus are great cars they are so much more expensive to fix than other Japanese cars. But how can that be? The majority of the parts are made by Toyota, no? I can see a few places where it would be expensive, but for the most part is it that bad? I feel confident if I buy a Lexus, it is going to last me a good while. But are they REALLY that much more expensive to fix versus a Camry or Nissan Maxima? Help me out so I can make my purchase in peace. Thanks in advance, The Josh
  21. OK, here are some specific questions: 1) I am entertaining the idea of buying a car with 100k miles on it. Is there a way to tell if the timing belt has been changed already? If not, how critical is it that it be changed right away? 2) Many people do not change the transmission fluid in their cars. What is the risk of changing the fluid(s) on a 100k mile car? I have heard horror stories from people (Not Lexus owners though) about changing fluids in a high mileage car and then having lots of trouble. 3) Sludge - if the car has 100k miles on it, probably gonna hve sludge. How do you get rid of the sludge without destroying the engine? Thanks, The Josh
  22. Hey all. Brand new to the board. I am seriously looking into buying an ES300, probably a 2000 or 2001. What are some of the problem areas that I need to be aware of? Also, do these cars require engine timing belt changes? If so, at how many miles (so I can make sure it has been done, if necessary)? Thanks in advance, The JOSH
