  1. One of our keys broke - the plastic housing cracked open and the internal pieces are gone. My wife swears she didn't see it happen, the parts just fell out - although she only used the key to back the vehicle out of the garage. I still have the key - but need a new housing with the remote components and the part that allows the key to start the vehicle. Is this the same situation that you experienced? I am afraid to call the dealer - but we need a second key. How did you get by so cheap at $67?
  2. I recall a post on how to turn off the DRLs. You will have to do a search. I believe these is a switch underneath the battery tray. Sorry that's all I can recall but I do know it can be done.
  3. I get about 17 in the city and about 24 on the highway, with about 20 to 21 average - using 87 octane. I would have expected better - even with keeping my tires inflated to 34 psi - coasting, not going above 2800 RPMs. The mileage computer seems to be off by about 5 to 10% - or about 1 to 2 miles.
  4. I had a similar problem which you can read about: undefined turns out my tires were the culprit
  5. I had the same problem with my 93 ES300 and the repair shop lubricated the rear bushings; cost $45 and it was fixed. It was an annoying sound that had me thinking it would be expensive to repair but turned out to be minor. Problem solved.
  6. the 2002 RX300 I bought lacks the rear spoiler that I see so many other RXs appear to have. Anyone know where to get one? I have queried Sewell and Park Place in Dallas and will wait for replies but wanted to check with others to see what recommendations might come about. Has anyone ever installed the OEM spoiler and is it a DIY type job? What about painting? Anyone ever try an after market spoiler and are you pleased with the results?
  7. I took everyone's advice and sold my 94 ES300 and now I am the owner of an 02 RX300, thank you for your replies.
  8. I have an opportunity to buy my Mom's 2002 RX300. It has 60K miles and has been very well maintained by a local Lexus dealer. I have read there is a known or common reference to problems with transmissions on 02 RX300 models. In reviewing the maintenance records for the vehicle, the transmission fluids were changed as per the regular maintenance intervals recommend. At 30K miles/April '04 the service records indicated that the solenoid and transmission pan gasket were changed due to 'valve malfunction'. 30 miles and 3 days later a check engine light was on and the problem was identified as a torque converter lock up clutch. The dealership replaced the transmission at no cost. Having read some of the complaints about tranmission problems with this model, I don't want inherit a potential major expense. By replacing the tranmission, did Lexus provide a replacement that won't have the problems that other RX owners have complained about? Or did the transmission replacement essentially give me a 30K mile extension before a future failure may occur? I have an 93 ES300 that I have been driving and I'm loyal to the brand and would love to step up to a newer/different model but I am concerned about a potential problem that seems to resonate from the RX300 community. I've got an opportunity to get the vehicle at trade in value to the dealer, about $15k, is this vehicle a great buy? Will the tranmission problem still be a concern down the road? Are there other problems that other RX300 owners know about that I should be aware of?
  9. I had a similar issue whereby I felt a shimmy in the front end as I drove down the road. (in fact, the text in your post is from my orignal posting on this problem - not a concern just interesting you have the same issue) - so I will share with you the resolution for vehicle: I took it to a Lexus expert here in Dallas, fearing the worst that I had ball joint issues since I had just replace the ball joints on another vehicle. The Lexus Expert drove the vehicle and thought it might be something loose in the steering. After putting the vehicle up on the rack and inspecting suspension and steering components...their verdict: TIRES. I had Pirelli P3000s and they said they were the cause (out of round or something defective in the tire). Even with rotating the tires I still had the same issue. I got my advice from another member - his diagnosis from the start was correct - it was the tires. Sooo...I bought a new set of Michelins, Xalto Pilots, even had the ride match done. The problem was solved for me and the car runs smooth without an issue. Hope this helps.
  10. Dude nobody knows why we are getting pedal vibrationg while driving i know im just hoping that maybe someone thats new to the forum might see this topic and know the answer. :( I had a similar issue whereby I felt a shimmy in the front end as I drove down the road. It would start at about 20 miles per hour and then continue with increased speed even up to highway speeds. I had the front end aligned and the tires rotated and balanced, but I still couldn't eliminate the issue. I could feel the shimmy in my seat, in the brake pedal, steering wheel...you could feel it in the car. What was even more strange was that when I drove over lane markers the car would jerk to the left or right. I took it to a Lexus expert here in Dallas, fearing the worst that I had ball joint issues since I had just replace the ball joints on another vehicle. The Lexus Expert drove the vehicle and thought it might be something loose in the steering. After putting the vehicle up on the rack and inspecting suspension and steering components...their verdict: TIRES. 11. SS are nice while they last, I can never get more than a year out of them. I've read several posts on SS and found the same comment. I installed mine in February and hope they last. As a precaution I kept my stock bulbs just in case. Any idea why they don't last long?
  12. I agree with dcfish, just need to take your time and work you hands into a tight spot, a quarter turn to release, disconnect the old buld and then attach the new and place the bulb in the socket and a quarter turn. As I recall, turn left (counter clockwise) to remove and turn right (clockwise) to tighten.
