  1. If its just built up brake dust then I would rinse out your wheels every few days to clear the brake dust. I have a issue that my brakes squeak after a few days past a cleaning.
  2. Bleeding of the brakes is not a step in changing brake pads.
  3. Few minor complaints: 1. Back seat leg room is bad for long trips. 2. The low height of the trunk has been a bit of a pain. 3. Brake dust is just a normal thing to me and good disc brakes. 4. I don't like the delay in shifts when using the manual mode with the shifter or the paddles. - I want to shift and keep the revs high. It will beep and not allow this. A great safety feature and thus one more reason I should get a manual in my next car. 5. The tires on my AWD stink in anything worse then a rain. The above are very minor issues. And I do mean minor. I could go on and on about my love for my car. Car is less then 4 months old and has 7200 miles on the odometer. I never drove the 350 when I bought my car for a reason. I didn't want to so I wouldn't want it..haha So yes the 250AWD could use some more power but oh well. Get used to using the gearbox to your liking for added power when you want it. Also the ride in the IS is a Sporty ride. Go figure, this is the IS which is meant to appeal to younger buyers and it is IS = Intelligent Sport :-)
  4. Anyone have a cam and care to make a sound clip? I have really enjoyed having a quiet IS over my last car which made a ton of noise.
  5. When you removed the hood, how much did it seem to weigh? I ask because when I close my hood it seems to light. I'm wondering if the hood is light or is it that the hinges are so nice.
  6. I have tinted rear doors, back glass and spoiler, however my personal opinion is that chrome wheels make the Lexus look cheap, look around, you see one with one without the without looks better... I have chrome on my 65 El Camino, they look great... If you get chrome make sure they are the best you can get other wise they get tarnished easier.. George My opinion exactly. But I still haven't tinted my IS with the Starfire Pearl (White) paint.
  7. Welcome, get your seat comfy and get driving/motoring.
  8. I do a lot of city style driving and avg 21-22mpg per tank of all city. When I get to the highway my car is seeing 27-29mpg.
  9. On cold mornings or when my brakes are wet the car makes additional noise when changing gears. This noise is usually gone once the brakes and car and dry and warm. If your sound continues then I would continue to prob for answers.
  10. this issue was driving me nuts for a week or so, checked my tire pressure. The fronts were 2-3psi different from each other. The rears were also down a few psi. Added air where needed and the problem is about 50% better. Also remember folks that you need to check your tires periodically.
  11. Normally the car should downshift and use some engine braking which with the brakes will slow the car.
  12. Is the car warmed up after 30minutes? The last few mornings here it has been between 10-20F and I only drive 15minutes to get to the subway and the car isn't warm yet.
  13. Anyone? Would like to know. My Mom almost jumped at a 07 to replace her high mileage 06 400h and we didn't partly to wait for the 08.
  14. Then again, your mom's RX is probably faster than your car........:chairshot: Seriously, there will always be features of other cars, even in the same family, that are preferable. My Corvette seats are light-years more comfortable than the RX's seats, but the 3200 lb Corvette averages only 20 MPG vs. the 4600 lb RX's 25 MPG. Well at least there is some response on this issue. I find it slightly unsettling when the engine comes on and off sometimes. Of course her RX400h is faster...it has tons of tourque compared to my IS250. But I like the ride and drive of my car over hers any day.
  15. Tire pressure, the road surface of the left lane is also slightly tilted. I have also read some say the steering in the IS and other Lexus also make road changes noticable in the wheel. I have this issue as well but notice it happens to pull a tad right as well. I believe this is due to the low profile tires, road surface and the steering. I have 3200 miles on the car and will have the 5k very soon and will have the alignment checked @ the 5k service.
  16. My family has bought now 5 Lexus from Lexus of Silver Spring with great results. Good pricing and customer service. So far the service department has been good as well.
  17. I noticed the same problem last week in the snow. The tires that come on the car are not good for more then rain.
  18. I was in my Mom's RX400h yesterday and when the engine comes on at a stop it comes on rough. I think rougher then when it was new. She has about 30k miles on the car. In my IS when I turn it on the car doesn't move @ all and found the shutter in the RX disturbing.
  19. Yah let us know. I'd like to know what happens. My mom has a 2006 RX400h.
  20. IIHS in the US test results of the IS250... http://www.iihs.org/ratings/rating.aspx?id=614
  21. Let it sit in the sun if you can to help the tint cure. It can take a week or so for them to disappear. I know for me my car sits in a big garage every day so the last time I got tint it took a few weeks for them to disappear. But I think it also depends on how bad the bubbles were to start with.
  22. There's a TSB on this issue and it's curable. http://www.alldata.com/tsb/Lexus/116349120...3-06/index.html
  23. The 2007 RX400h's have a hybrid badge on the rear doors. You could probably pick up those to install on yours. I know I have considered getting them for my Mom's 2006 RX400h. Also there is an optional Lexus hybrid sticker available to go in the rear window.
  24. I want to make a custom Lexus-like designed knob for my car. Whalen makes these and he said if I get him the dimensions of the shaft and such he would make one for my car. http://www.whalenshiftmachine.com/home.htm Anyone have this info so I don't have to try and measure it correctly? BTW the cost will be approx $100 + design. I think a good deeply cut Lexus logo will look better then the stock knob on my car.
