  1. Hi Ed, I am having similar problem with my 91' LS400. The driver side door won't open from the inside or outside for several months now, which means I have been climbing thru the passenger side. This was ok with me but now the passenger door started bugging out too; it wont open from the inside so I have to stick my hand out on the passenger side in order to get out of the car. Did you take your car in to get fix? Did they tell you what was wrong? Approximately how much did you pay to get it fix? I hope your car is ok now. Sincerely, Carmen Carmen I paid 700 dollars to have it fixed. Dont get scared just yet as that was high due to my car being the ULTRA edition that has the automatic door closers. It is quite a bit cheaper for regular LS's.
  2. I received terrible news about my lock this morning. Since I have the easy close door on the UL, the door lock is 530 dollars for parts alone and 700 dollars installed. :cries: I am in complete shock that such a minor part could have such a high price tag from Lexus. I have verified the accuracy of this price and it sorely disappoints me. Judging by this experience if my car has 2 or 3 more electrical problems it will be impractical to even keep this thing. I thought these outrageous prices were reserved for Mercedes and BMW's.
  3. No unfortunately its only the one front passenger door. Thanks for your reply
  4. Hello everyone I have an 02' UL and my door lock died on my passenger side. I am kinda frustrated and also scared of the cost of repair. Has this happened to anyone else? If it has what was the cause? Please reply as I am going to the Mechanic Staurday and I really dont want to go in there blind. It does not work with the switches at all. Thanks, Ed
  5. I was faced with the same decision 2 months ago and I went the LS route purchasing an 02' Ultra with 40k miles. I could not justify paying the 7k more for an ES that does not have the prestige or luxury that the LS has. That front wheel drive torque steer kills me. We are on a Lexus LS forum so people here know these cars but those who are not so knowledgeable thought I just paid 69K for a brand new LS and are floored every time they ride in it. I feel great about paying 29K for a car that was is in excellent condition without a scratch, and it was 71K 4 years before I bought it. The technology in the Ultra LS far surpasses any car I have ever been in. The only car that comes close is the W12 VW PHAETON which I also have experience with. An ES is a great car but is is at the end of the day an entry level luxury car while the LS is premium Luxury.
  6. Hey guys I have an 02' LS430 that is 600 miles shy of needing an oil change. I put Mobil 1 synthetic oil in all my other cars but I dont know if it is safe to do in this one. Let me know what you guys use and what the advantages/disadvantages of synthetic for this particular car are. Thanks
  7. Thanks for the replies. I am of course going to do the maintenace it recommends, I just didnt know how DIY it was and if paying the dealer was worth it. The only complication I see is the differential fluid and total tranny flush. I may not have the tools to get that far into it. Also what kind of oil are you guys using because I am a die-hard MOBIL 1 fan but I wasnt sure if the LS is ok with synthetic.
  8. Hey guys I just purchased an 02' Pearl white ULTRA package LS430 last week. I bought it from a Lexus dealer here in Miami and they recommended I do the 60K mile service when the time comes. (It has 45,000 now). Has anyone done this? What do they do to it and is it worth the $1,100 dollars?:whistles:
