  1. Yes, if you could, I would greatly appreciate it... Thanks! I have a GS factory repair manual (2005 GS300/430) that shows R&R procedures along with voltmeter tests, is that what you're looking for? (I don't have access to a flat-bed scanner, I could take some digicam shots of the pages if it's helpful) mike
  2. I just started getting the same code... I am hoping someone has a tutorial that I can use so this doesn't take me too long to figure out when I go to fix the problem... hopefully I get a response as I have had great luck on this site previously...
  3. I also forgot, I have a 2000 GS400... Thanks!
  4. Does anyone have a tutorial on how to replace the Vapor Pressure VSV and Canister? I am getting the two codes mentioned in the topic and according to Lexus this and the hoses are what needs replaced... Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!
  5. WOW!! It's been a LONG WHILE since I checked this post... if you are still able, what all do you think I would need and how much are we looking at? Thanks!
  6. Hey anthonyiez, I have 20" chrome rims with 245/35/20's... if you can do them or have the time, send me an email and let me know where your shop is located... you can email me @ reigns@rocketmail.com Thanks!
  7. Hey anthonyiez! I am located in the pgh area and would LOVE to stop by your shop and get you to possibly fix this prob 4 me! It has been WAY TOO LONG trying 2 get this prob fixed and I just want my baby to get back to a smooth ride.... I dont believe in that hooey bout having 2 trade-off a smooth ride 4 a out-of-balance ride just because of aftermarket rims...I have had MANY OTHER VEHICLES and ALL OF THEM have had aftermarket wheels put on them... and my ride was NEVER sacrificed... to me the rim conspiracy is just a way 4 the dealers 2 get ppl 2 buy their "cheap" overpriced wheels... One prob though... I have balancing compound in my tires... one of the last ditch efforts I tried in order to get the prob under wraps... is there any way to get that off the tire and get the tires balanced without it?
  8. I have had the same problem and tried for a year to get the problem resolved... I have a 99 GS400 and have had two sets of 20" wheels (Both different brands and styles), 3 sets of tires (All different brands and treadpatterns) and have had the dealer who sold me the car take them to get force balanced...nothing worked... I have had them also static balanced about 8 times, replaced the hubcentric rings from the ones that came with the rims (Plastic) to aluminum hubcentric rings... no difference... I also had a local tire shop put a balancing compound in the tires which did not work either... I am at a loss for what it could be... and I get that shaking at exactly the same speed as you are discribing... the only thing I can assume is that you need to ask for "spec" tires from whoever you buy your tires from...they cost more, but they are as close as you are going to get to perfect... I have also tried rotating my tires and it does seem to get better, so the only thing i can assume is that is does have to do with the tires themselves... I wish someone could find a REAL answer to this problem as it doesnt seem to be an easy fix like a set of hubcetric rings or balancing... alls I gotta say is it is DEFINITELY pretty embarrassing to have a Lexus that looks DANG GOOD but rides like a hugo...
  9. Maybe a bad motor mount? I dunno all that much about engines and cars...but I know enuff to get myself in trouble... but I am thinking if you could actually feel the engine shaking... that may have something to do with it... just a thought...
  10. I just had my HID headlights replaced on my 99 GS400 because of condensation in the lenses. Only problem is that the headlights are not the same color now. One side is the standard brite white/blue tint and the other is a brite white/yellowish tint. My only concern is that this is caused by the condensation in the previous lenses and that it is a sign that the light may burn out. Shouldnt the dealership replace the bulbs as well when they replace the lenses? If not, how much do the bulbs cost to replace? Thanks!
  11. I would try a new intake. Maybe something like the SRT...it looks like a great setup...I am no mechanic, but I would imagine that would have made it feel like you lost HP just because you only dealt with the exhaust...which will help the exhaust gases get expelled...but there is no additional air getting put into the engine...so I would try the intake...I am willing to bet that once you do that, you will notice a difference...it's not going to be anything like a supercharger or anything, but you should definitely notice a positive difference...let me know how it works out for you!
  12. I have been trying to get my spoiler right since I bought mine! I think mine is an aftermarket/factory knock-off. It looks like the others, but I have not seen any that close to actually be able to tell if it is or not...It's a 99 GS400...the spoiler has the led light on it...but there is a highmount brakelight that does not light...that is why I think the spoiler is aftermarket... I have been having a prob with my spoiler flapping in the wind...I have taken out the rivets and re-rivetted it...all seemed well...but a week or two goes by and its back to flapping again...I think the sheet metal is too weak, anybody have any suggestions on what I should do?
  13. Alright, I dont think too many ppl check this electronics forum that own GS400's but imma take a stab at it...I am looking to replace my factory Nakamichi Stereo with a pioneer headunit and changer combo...I remember reading somewhere that the pioneer changer has to be mounted upside down the fit in the factory location/glovebox...does anybody know if this is true? Also, does anyone know where I can get a wiring harness and a mounting kit for the radio itself? I have seen a few...but none that match up right and none that look like the factory finish... I have two JL Audio W6 subs and 2 sets of Kicker Resolution 6.5 speakers (left over from my prelude) along with a JL Audio 500/2 and a JL Audio 300/4...I think that would sound MUCH better than the factory...even though the factory dont sound bad... If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it! THANK IN ADVANCE!!!
  14. I have had a TERRIBLE vibration in my GS400 as well and have been trying to find the problem for the past 7 months...I have gone so far as to have the dealership I bought the car from replace the rims and tires...but I have 20" on mine...but they ended up sending me to a guy who did an amazing job, probably the closest yet...of getting rid of the vibration...what he did was put a balancing compound (noramlly used for balancing tractor trailer tires)...they sprayed it into the tires (the same way you do with fix-a flat)..and the compound is like a sand that rolls in the tire and spreads out to the places the the tire shimmies to...balancing the tires...so now...the vibration I had is almost gone...but still there...at the exact same speeds you are talking about...so if you do get a fix..let me k now what you end up with...cuz I may need to do the same...good luck! :(
  15. Hey bbbic! What rim and tire combination do you have? Just curious...
  16. Hey Brent! Those look REAL close to the ones I just got...I just had a set of 20" Armano Dunamis on my GS400...they look REAL GOOD...personally, I think they are a very nice rim. GOOD CHOICE! I am sure you will get a lot of heads turning where ever you go.
  17. OH MAN!!..Why dont you try a rod millen exhaust?...I have that on my GS and it sounds MEAN!!...when you start that bad boy up..ppl know you mean biznass...and when you tromp that puppy to the floor..WATCH OUT!..haha...I mean...I was lookin for the same thing...I wanted something different...but not something that looked cheap and sounded cheap...and this is the perfect match for me!...I am tellin you..if you look at this...you will be IMPRESSED by its sound...good luck on your search...
  18. I think they have the right size on...as the adapters fit snug around the hub and squeeze into the rim itself...but here is my next question...should the adapter have anything to do with the actual balancing of the rim?...shouldnt they have an adapter that will fit the original "universal" hole in the rim when they balance the rim? Because they are saying that before they even get the rim on the car...they can't get the wheels to balance...oh..and heres another thing...they just called me today..and said they would buy me a set of rims...but they would not mount or balance the new wheels...and I would have to sign a waiver to release them of any liability on the rims...and that just sounds like an easy way out for them instead of truly finding the problem...I have a BAD feeling about agreeing to that...but I really just want my car back...and I think they know that and are using that to their advantage... Oh yea..and now that my car has been sitting for three months now...do you think that would cause flat spots on my new (three month old) tires? MAN!...Mr Sypher...Lexdiamond...TurboGS300...I appreciate all your help so far!...thats why I tell everyone I know about this site...you guys are GREAT!....I thought a knew a lot about cars...but I am slowly finding out that there is SO much to every car and every mod...that you really do need sites like this to keep ahead of the game...Thank you all again!
  19. haha..oh man..yea..mr sypher..what I meant to say was you were right as far as them not being hubcentric...but they do have the adapters on them...and these are the things that are baffling me...because I do have the adapters in and it still shakes...and I have had the rims balanced about four times since I bought the car... AND the other thing...I dont think it could be a bent rim..unless all the Picasso's made by KMC were out of round...because I replaced a rim..and the problem still persisted...and even though the rims were rotated (because I wanted to see if I could feel any difference..and maybe give me a clue as to why the car wash shaking..if I did have a bad rim or two)... hahha..I am hoping that if the dealership orders new rims...this prob will go away... :( Thanks for all your input guys!..
  20. Hi guys...thanks for the info...yea..they are DEFINITELY hubcentric...but they do have the adapters that set inside the center ring of the rim...so I wouldnt think that is it...and I did have someone else balance them and they did get better...but they cracked the rim...according to the dealership that is trying to fix this issue... It's a ridiculous issue...that I know should be something simple to fix...and it is next to IMPOSSIBLE to find anyone in the Pittsburgh, PA Area that actually does the full deal...mounting, balancing and installing of rims...every place I have been to withihn 200 miles of Pittsburgh, either just orders the rims from shops online or they send them to shops like Pep Boys and places like that to get mounted and balanced...and as far as I am concerned..those "fast food" type places aren't capable of handling any requests beyond factory style improvements to a vehicle...and as far as the performance shops in my area...all they want to deal with are civics and rice burners...and none of the guys in those shops around here are certified...that also makes me nervous... I love these rims..but I dont know if they are junk rims...I understand that model of rim is now discontinued and I am wondering if that is the reason why..because they have been having problems with those... I am starting to think that it is the spin balancing machines themselves...and the operators that run them... :-(
  21. Has anyone had problems with getting their rims balanced on their GS4's?...I have a set of 20" KMC Picasso's that the Dealership I bought the car from has been trying for about three months now to balance these rims! They claim to have tried everything...going even as far as to "force" balance them...and they STILL could not get them to balance right. They told me that they had talked to a person from one of our local Lexus Dealerships...and they had stated that the car is VERY sensitive and that may be the reason for the shimmy...but as far as I can see it....that wouldnt make a difference..because the dealership is claiming that they could not balance the wheels...I am at my wits end here and I dunno what to do... ...I dont know if I will need to step down to 18's in order to get the ride runnin smooth (WHICH I REALLY DON'T WANT TO DO)...so any info would be great!...I know a LOT of you have 20's on your ride...so help a brutha out..PLEASE! :D If you have 20's on your rides...can anyone give me someone to contact in order to maybe get a new set of rims...I just dropped $1200 on a new set of skins and I dont want that to get flushed down the drain just because the locals dont know how to balance a set of wheels...THANKS IN ADVANCE EVERYONE!
  22. here's my two cents... I would rather buy a 4 year old GS rather than lease simply because I use my car WAY TOO MUCH and put WAY TOO MANY miles on my cars to lease...and I don't have the luxury of writing my mileage off as a business expense. I usually put about 20,000 a year on my rides...so the surcharge for that kind of overage would be astronomical. But I would say..if you could write a new ride off as a business expense...I would do it...but as for the average joe...buying would be the only option... :D
  23. Thanx guys...bdavid13...let me know what you find out...thx!
  24. Hey! Yeah..I was getting that gurgling sound too! But just when I first start it up...after it warms up, it doesnt do it any more. : ( Hmmm... I tried changing the oil to synthetic thinking that may help, but no luck so far...oh, and mine doesnt do it all the time...hmmm...
