  1. K9, Bummed to hear the news...Sounds like you have a case though! Keep us informed ;)
  2. Steve, About that Autosharp Pen...... Will it work on the EDGE of a door - noticed 1" stripped edge by passenger door lock (I wonder if someone BAD was doing a little Digging?) Plus I have a 1" vertical scratch on rear passenger door. And... I've used touch-up also, so will these applications both do a great job of preventing further paint Deterioration/rust as long as good wash/seal/wax protocol is maintained? Thanks
  3. VB, Ditto my man! Everyone be careful and enjoy the meaning of Christmas!!!
  4. den, Thanks for the post! I'm copying it to a word file - hopefully to use as part of an 'ONLINE' repair/maintenance thread. All the little things add up :D
  5. You will be impressed with the clay bar!!
  6. acf, I've got a little "indentation" behind the RF wheel on front qtr panel. Will get an estimate & possibly photo too. I already called DENT WIZARD who works out of Lexus every morning. HE told me to come by His own shop and save some $ over going to Lexus.......imagine that..... a better deal than by the" stealer dealer"
  7. For me, It's not really a rattle. You can feel the INTERIOR column shaft slipping or "pulsing" as you go over gravel road. The steering wheel doesn't really move or rattle - its within the column shaft - I think. It is not noticeable to anyone. Only if your hands are on the wheel......

    Power!

acf & others, Great posts....the passion continues!! Took a couple of buddies to college game last week. They couldn't believe my car was 4 years in the first place - and the best ride they've ever had :D
  9. You know,, sometimes you have to "gun it" to back out of the drive and get into the street......
  10. Yes, Those things did apply to me when we had snow here a couple of weeks ago.
  11. Craig, I have Daylight's on my LS too, but the guages are not adjustable (always on full) unless I run the parking/taillights ONLY on - or of course the HID's. Yes, the person who gets my LS is getting the ULTIMATE MAINTAINED VEHICLE :D I'm shooting for a minimum 300k, would feel great to get 400K.
  12. fiveofakind, Just took advantage of a 58 degree day in December. Changed my oil (synthetic) @ 4000 mile interval and 2.5 qt. pan drain of T-IV tranny fluid..... Set for the winter :D Your advice is sound for any new (or established) LS owner!
  13. jonnyw, I feel my 99LS does the same thing - but was'nt sure is was a defect. Only happens on a gravel road; it feels like something inside the column is "sliding" back and forth just a "mm" or so. My steering wheel doesn't really shake or anything. I'm with your, can this be fixed?
  14. I replaced batteries for my 99 LS key and did not need to re-program them. The contacts could be squashed or corroded.................
  15. swo, Thanks for the reassurance :D 90LS, I noticed today you are correct. When out for a drive in daylight, those lights are on full with NO adjustment. When I turn my HID's on at night - I CAN adjust. I will still keep them dimmed a little when HID"s are on for peace of mind.
  16. Craig, I agree to keep the inst. lights on low level - I always have. Not just on LS, but every car I've owned because I didn't want burnout. But then again - I THINK WAY TOO MUCH ABOUT THIS KIND OF THING... (ex.....) Since the weather has cooled off, I only run the auto climate control once a month or so to give the A/C unit a rest. I just turn on the fan and run manual heat setting w/o AC. In summer, I always turn OFF the A/C unit when I'm within 1/2 mile or so of my stopping point. Just letting the fan run (but will still have cool air for a minute or so) ' Especially when I'm headed HOME. This allows a little rest for the A/C unit and the CONDENSATION to drain off as I drive instead of dripping in my Garage. All of this in the name of efficiency :D I only use Distilled Water mixed with the Coolant, Change (pan Drain) the Tranny fluid every 5K. Now I'm addicted to SWO's detailing MADNESS - It's worse than my wife going to get a PERM!!! Will the madness every end.................. NO - IT'S A LOT OF FUN :D
  17. Mapman, Money well Spent - good idea :D
  18. Sounds like someone may have to Scan the pages and then PM to you.
  19. Are you still "DOWN' on your Lexus? What other irritants do you have?
  20. As you'll gather by reading our posts, the dreaded Power Steering unit can be a hindurance for the older LS's along with worn front suspension. Otherwise, you have solid vehicle. VBDenny cruises at 100 mph with his 90 LS and it rides like a dream. It is also a very well maintained vehicle :D
  21. I use mequires premium leather conditioner.... seems ok. Got my 99 tinted this summer. Looks good but I was worried it wouldn't pass inspection in MO. Law allows up to 30% tint (I think for MO) - Which is a very dark tint. Mine are legal and really helps!! Especially that big back glass with nice tint on it keeps hot sun toned down. It is hard to see inside the car which is also nice for our little family!
  22. Denny, Wish this post had come up a month ago. Bought Sears Gold battery to replace original in my 99 LS. Has a 2 year full replacement(maybe 3 - I'll look) The width is correct, but it is about 1 inch short lengthwise in the "fitted" Bracket that the hold down bolts go through. I complained to the clerk the next day about it, but she said it was the exact match (cold crank, etc..) for my car. I've check it now and then; doesn't slip or anything but it is a sore subject <_< I'm a little bummed....
  23. ACF, This is crazy! I honestly think your model (95-97) is the BLURRED LINE. I wanted to talk to an individual MECHANIC at the Lexus dealers, but couldn't . So this info is from the Service Managers- Which does leave me a little suspicious <_< .
  24. I've called FIVE different dealers in FIVE different states...... They say; NON-INTERFERENCE (no badness :D ) -- 90-94 LS INTERFERENCE (badness ) -- 95 AND UP LS MODELS This agrees with two independent Lexus/Acura Specialist shops. I'd still get it changed every 90k...........
  25. Well, For a 13-14 year old car if the Throttle body hasn't been cleaned it sure wouldn't hurt anything- I don't know if that will help the problem for sure but it's a good start. There is a GREAT PICTORIAL PROCEDURE for this somewhere (temp lost in the Crash) buy I'm sure it will surface..... I've also read from Lextech2k3 that this isn't necessarily a bad thing (the smoke @ startup) because the car is older. I does sound more like a too rich mixture problem
