  1. 98-00 Ls's will give you more leg room than any previous LS The 01+ REALLY GIVES you more leg, head, and shoulder room but will cost you $32K plus......
  2. Just got a coupon for $60 off a set of four tires from costo - good first week of February. Sounds like an opportunity to save a little $ - I'll look into the XGT H4's.....
  3. sebastor, nice info... $71 is a bargain and it is a very good , quiet tire. The Bridgstone turanza LS-V is technically a better tire that the dBS... but @ $50 a tire more expensive also! A good choice...
  4. Maybe there's a WORN spot on the back of the peddle and it occasionally SLIPS out and then later on Pops back in the slot?
  5. Guys, Just took advantage of 55 degree day in KC. Washed the LS and have put one coat of collinite 476s paste wax. So excited about it I want to put another coat on after dinner...Should I wait till tommorrow am? I did what you said about working 1/4 sections at a time - just buffed pretty much immediately after applying say.. 1/2 of the trunk lid... sections at a time. I did already put a 2nd coat on the hood after I pulled the LS in the Garage at 5:30 pm. Thought I should get more feedback before applying next coat. It's Looking GOOD :D
  6. ehancock, Yes, please take photos with documentation. This would be a GREAT ADDITION to the Knowledge Base Section we are putting together. Be as detailed as possible if you can - you will have full credit for the work done. This will really help us LS'ers :D pm me if you have any questions....
  7. It's a seriously good ride!
  8. 91, SWO is correct. I put my 99LS in snow mode and OFF with the Trac. to get around a couple of snowy days a few weeks ago. Otherwise, VSC was on ALL THE TIME. snow mode was big improvement!
  9. BELAFLEK, BTW, those wheels on the 97 coach are exactly like on my 99 LS - see avatar picture.
  10. in 1997, LS had the COACH ED. and standard. Coach came with nakamichi, 5 spoke aluminum alloy wheels, and most importantly - COACH LEATHER! Otherwise, the normal 97's had regular leather, standard wheels stock for the 95-97 years, and lexus stereo. There are probably a few more SUBTLE things but I don't know them......Nothing Mechanically.
  11. Sebastor, I have YK420's on my 99LS. They're pretty quiet, a little floaty. I don't think they handle all that great - but probably average. I just don't know about the "wear" factor. I don't think they came with the car. I now have 59K miles and the tires have 4/32" left - nearly gone. If they did come with LS then the wear is great, otherwise, they probably have about 30K or LESS miles on them.
  12. Garret, The Serpentine belt is the one belt you can SEE right behind the radiator. It runs off the crankshaft spindle and turns alt, a/c, p/s. Your timing belt is hidden BEHIND the S. Belt and is more or less Attached to the engine. It is connected with the camshaft timing pulleys (L/R) and waterpump. Both these belts are replaced on the 90k service. If you have no records of the timing belt & water pump being replaced, then you certainly have gotten your Moneys Worth!! It is time! Do you have a way of copying the Lexus 90k service printout? I would be interested in seeing it and compare to the Kansas City Area dealer. I have a 60K printout but I think it's more specific to the 95-2000 LS models. Send me a PM if you wish.
  13. Yes, I agree.. I'll have it done @ 90K - by the book!
  14. woW! Sounds like the 90K interval for my 99LS is very conservative - dealer approved ;)
  15. ucf3, Are you telling us you have almost 200k original miles on the timing belt & water pump?
  16. 60K service also includes: Coolant change, differential gear lube change, throttle body clean, minor ATF fluid change (pan drain of 2+ quarts), oil chnge, torque bolts to spec, PCV valve, inspect belts, air filter, cabin filter, etc.. Per Lexus, spark plugs are changed at 90K. Cost is $550 for dealer, $400 for import shop - KC, MO area prices....
  17. acf, BTW, the shine looks great :D Your LS looks to be in BEAUTIFUL CONDITION :) I hope to wash n wax my 99LS tommorrow - got the Collinite 476s too
  18. k9, Glad to hear the LS will live again! Especially that you'll keep cash in your pocket for more premium fuel needs and that LCD :D thanks for the thread - I'll cut n past it to my Lexus Database (word file) for reference. I too, have the 99LS but it has been perfect so far......knock on wood! Yes, these types of problems should be NON-EXISTENT on this car. I mean, my lowly 1994 Mazda 626 was absolutely bulletproof (mechanically, electrically, etc... ) for 8 years - and this is a LEXUS! keep us updated....
  19. acf, repair looks great!!! So was that $169? I also have similar SCRAPE on my RR wheel (same wheels as yours) - I would like to know the process for refurbishing as Well!
  20. Ditto VMF, You can go thru a spray booth if you want, or a stationary one where the spray revolves around you - but that's it! Hand Wash - but NEVER in a CIRCULAR MOTION...... See the Detailing Forum - SW03ES is a guru.
  21. Denny, You just gotta change those seats!
  22. Meist, I don't think you have to change the plugs until 90K on your LS. My 99 does not include plugs in the 60K service. But then again, why not :D
  23. You might see what a Leather Upholstery(spelling) Shop could do? We had a clean knife cut thru leather sofa and was "seamlessly" repaired...
  24. OK - got it right this time, Did another test today and I CAN adjust the dimmer when only my DRL's are on! Just didn't notice (I guess) the first time I tried looking at it. Obviously, dimmer is adjustable at night with HID"s...
  25. Got my Collinite 476 from FedEx today!!! Kinda like an early Christmas bonus..... Will Try to wash, then clay my LS Christmas afternoon; by then I'll probably pull it in the garage to give the Collinite a try. Steve, I'll remember to polish it up BEFORE it dries....... Maybe put a second coat on the next morning ;)
