  1. ALL THESE SPECS ARE FROM 99 MANUAL BUT SHOULD BE IN THE BALLPARK: Those flange bolts that tie into the diff. case from the L/R axles are : 10mm hex bolts - torque is 61 ft. lbs. Six bolts each side The main driveshaft (Lexus calls it the PROPELLER SHAFT) has Three bolts attached @ transmission case & 3 @ Diffy. case. Torque is 58 ft. lbs each. One last item with could vibrate; the middle section of the propeller shaft HAS A CENTER SUPPORT BEARING and is mounted by two bolts @ 27 ft. lbs each. Check those too as they have adjusting washers to keep proper angles of the propeller shaft assembly. The TROUBLE SHOOTING SYMPTOMS FOR VIBRATION ARE: 1 - Transmission extension housing rear bushing - WORN 2 - Flexible Couplings (to tranny & diffy) - WORN 3 - Sleeve yoke spline - STUCK 4 - Propeller shaft runout 5 - Propeller shaft imbalance Let us know.... 99 (VB - I lilke that Agent 99 bit :D )
  2. I think VBDenny is on the right track. YEs, let us know if you are BRAKING and this is happening; or if it happens once you let foot off the gas and you COAST down to slower speed. The flange bolts on the driveshaft & each side of differential are usually re-torqued every 5K. How about your tire wear? check inside and out.....front and rear for discrepencies.
  3. Well said redhawk2. Spoiled kids with little or no respect for the things they have lead to more serious problems..
  4. Extremely GOOD PRICE!!! Let us know how it comes out!
  5. ucf3, NO hepa for the 99 - think they started it with the 01 model year.... Anyway, I have kept and CLEANED THE OLD FILTER - and does look pretty good : :) Lexus part # 87139-50010 I originally bought a TOYOTA FILTER - PART # 87139-48020 because it fit nicely and was only $22.00 Then I felt TOO MUCH AIR FLOW - so I paid AGAIN for the real OEM lexus deal. So I blew the extra $22 :(
  6. k9, thanks for the info - this forum is GREAT!!! Once again, very impressive :D
  7. k9, makes me want to pull the filter out and check it after 5k miles... I think I'll wait till spring - I can't get that bad - can it? Enjoy the weather - it's 7 degrees tonight here in KC, MO :(
  8. K9, THE ENGINE IS STUNNING... :o :D Where'd you get the goods; and does it specifically say for "under the hood" & such? & UCF3, You know, our silly little LS's have the huge plastic intake and engine covers, so its really pleasing to see more of the aluminum & such...ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S WELL KEPT - GOOD JOB GUYS!!
  9. K9, Mine looked the same way when I changed it in late summer @53K. I have printout from Lexus that shows my vehicle was serviced @ 15,30, & 45K before I got the car. EVERY ONE of these services includes a NEW CABIN FILTER - but I guess the DEALER <_< JUST HAPPENED TO FORGET and propably charged the previous owner with it anyway <_< THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I DIY . If I do take it to shop, I check EVERYTHING out myself and leave CLUES so I KNOW IF IT WAS DONE OR NOT...... I printed out prices from IRONTOAD.. I think the filter was $35 online. Showed the price to Lexus Dealer, and parts guy (although not always) matched the price. Lexus retail is $55.00
  10. Craig, Got it down !!! :D Thanks for the info.... My brother has 96 Corvette so keeps me interested how that car is being upgraded...
  11. Matthew, Sounds like a great feature :D Thanks for all your (and others) hard work to keep improving our LOC FORUM!!
  12. wmOH, The miles are a little early. But the car is 7 1/2 years old so it is possible. I suggest a GOOD IMPORT SHOP (with specialty in LEXUS) could give you a better diagnositic. Call Dealer with estimate too... They'd probably check it for $40 or so and then apply that toward alignment/repair if something was really wrong. Let us know what you find out....
  13. Does it matter if car is on or off?
  14. ucf3, VERY VERY NICE :D What type(s) of cleaner(s) did YOU use?
  15. Joe, Thanks for the reply :D Yes - I do hope I have many miles and years ahead of me
  16. Craig, I think the 45 lbs is the over-inflated mark. I don't think I'd put more than 35 lbs in any tire though....... I run my tires all the time at 32-34 psi - I think they wear longer. My feellings are the tire manufactures want LOWER pressure in the tires so they'll wear out faster.
  17. acf, I didn't let it dry to haze as stated on the can. This helped the application of the first coat. Now, for the second coat - I suppose I could have let it "haze" a little longer because it went on REALLY smooth - much easier than the first. I think Steve recommended to wipe it off quickly so that's why I did it this way.... I did work about "half the trunk lid" at a time. Put on with sponge and buffed off with a MF Towel. 13 degrees and light snow this AM... I can see the flakes skidding across the polished hood :D
  18. Joe, Great post! How do the NEW tie rod & ball joints go on? Do you use the special tool to PRESS them back in or what? How could one avoid the damaged threads? I've copied/pasted all of this down for future reference - Thanks!!! sound like you save $300+ by DIY :D
  19. Richard, Yes, TRAC/VSC will come standard on 98+ model LS. I've found the SNOW MODE really helps more that anything for me.
  20. Richard, I've thought about a second car.... that would be great to keep the LS inside :D I REALLY do not lilke to drive the LS in any type of snow or ice But..ya gotta do what you have to do............
  21. Well, Got TWO coats of the 476s ALL OVER HER- AND its a beautifull thing!!! She's been sitting in the garage for 5 days (used the wife's SEQUOIA over the holidays) - but the snow and ice have hit KC Area.... Tomorrow the SLUSH will be all over the LS -- at least I know I've got a great wax on to last the winter :D
  22. Meist, Coming down here too! Lot's of freezing rain and light snow! My LS has been in the Garage for 5 Days straight! Beautifully washed and DOUBLE WAXED. Wish I could take it out in a beautiful sunshine day to get photos of her :D Tomorrow (and the rest of the week) will be a slushy ride..... we'll see how well the Collinite wax Cleans up! I'M READY FOR APRIL!!!!
  23. K9, I've really only "floored" my LS once - on the accel. ramp. There was a little hesitation but not 1.5 seconds. I think Lexus makes it this way for some reason..... BTW, how's the body work coming on your recent adventure........ Jim, Where did you read about this "learning" feature? I do thing that my car shifted "faster" the first month I had it - but I drive very "easy" and have noticed it doesn't shift as agressive (I think) as it used to...
  24. There were some codes that were lost in the great "crash". I remember some info about adjusting the sensitivity to the AUTO ON HID'S (-10%, +20%, etc....) along with a bunch of other things. I'm hoping this "auto lock" feature was one of them. Please let me know also!!!! VMF, SRK, SKPerformance; did one of you guys list these "dealer adjustable codes"?
  25. Welcome to the club! Lots of guys with 90-94's will chime in soon! Make sure the 94 is up to date on maintenance and enjoy :D
