  1. You might have the "Fresh outside Air" baffle open on each individual vent. Check each vent and rotate the Dial to OFF or CLOSED.
  2. Here's a link: but only for 98+ floor mats, they weren't even listed for 97 or older. You may have to replace the whole set to keep uniform color..... Anyway, 10 year old and only 66K! You must have a short commute . Tell us your maintenance schedule, type of oil, etc..... - are you DIY? I'll try a few more places..... http://www.lexustoyotamitsubishiparts.com/...sp?PartID=90153 I'm back with a quick edit - HERE'S THE ONE!!!!! http://www.lexus-parts.com/prodlist.asp?ModelID=63 99
  3. A lot of owners use Mobil One & their filter or Toyota filter. I use Amsoil 5-30 & Amsoil Filter. Either way is superior to dino.....but then again a well maintained "dino" engine will still get you 200+ K miles.
  4. Here's where mine came from: http://www.mechahawaii.com/TOYOTALEXUS.html VMF, $30 will buy one tank of gas- but at least these models don't need any
  5. Thanks SRK, I'll keep that in mind - as my 99 LS gets 23 mpg regularly around town, I'm probably is good shape as it is: but always good maintenance!
  6. acf, I pretty much "double up " these services, for ex: Coolant, Diffy, -every 15K for sure, Maybe every 15K - Brake flush (if I'm in the mood) Trans fluid - I do a pan drain/ refill (approx. 2 quarts of t-IV) & SYNTHETIC OIL CHANGE @ 4-5K! Since I'm a DIY'er, I can follow this schedule for only $120-30 a year (or what a dealer would charge for 2 oil changes. Parts: Check lexus-parts.com also for comparison.
  7. michaelsn, I think what you've highlighted in yellow is what CL & mapman are recommending. On a side issue, the "AIR CONTROL VALVE" (in the diagram) is what I'm talking about. I was just in a Lexus repair shop last week - a guy with 93 LS, 135K has PS leak but nothing visible. This "air control valve" (your diagram) was the culprit. I think the shop pulled one (or both) of the vacuum hose(s) off the end of this valve. (I guess see which one goes to manifold). They checked for Fluid dripping from them to validate the PS fluid was getting sucked up into the manifold. They found dripping fluid, although small amount, and determined to replace the valve. Hope this helps, 99
  8. Are you referring to the fact that: You get kicked out of whatever thread your on when you go to the gallery and then "back to Forums" - I see this happening also, There is no "quick forum jump" at the bottom of page to jump to...... I see those two differences which are a little bit of nusance.
  9. So is this stuff just added to a tank of gas - and twice a year or so for maintenane? Also, your thoughts on how it compares to (BG44)? injector cleaner.... Thanks!
  10. Blake, Sorry about that! - Just the radio, yeah! This is the exact look of my 99 LS with taupe colored leather/ vinyl; and Yes, a friend of mine who with a 97 Coach has a darker (black) radio - his interior is Grey with grey leather.
  11. Not only that, but the 98's got the OUTSIDE TEMP / CLOCK lcd's that are integrated with the top of the panel. How's that gonna fit? ;)
  12. Yeah - in cold/cool weather the LS will run normal on the temp guage so it doesn't look like anythings wrong. The LS must be VERY sensitive - now I'm beginning to understand why the LOW mark in the reservoir is only 1/2" below the FULL mark - this is like 4 ounces!!! (I thought this was just crazy: you know for a 11.5 quart capacity system) thanks for giving us "a conclusion" to the post, a lot of times we'er just left hanging <_< . Glad your back in action and the feet are warm 99
  13. Can't get a hold of my bro...taking a vacation day from work so I'll catch him over the weekend. This is a 1/24 scale - and I think my brother said he looked everywhere to find this also. Has this website on the box..... http://www.aoshima-bk.co.jp Steve, maybe now you can find all the model years :D
  14. From my brother ...... (xmas gift!) I'll check the box for website and.... Call my bro to get the details.. (I hope I don't scratch the clear coat )
  15. Swo.... Check this out :D Sorry I didn't tell you guys I got ANOTHER LS 400 FOR CHRISTMAS! Year 1998-2000 and this one is Platinum! 7 spoke wheels & NAV! Enjoy... 99
  16. Any of you guys done this? I'm talking about the long strip that is attached to the BODY of the car. It runs from bottom of windshield, up along the roofline, and then about 1/2 down the Rear passenger door. The Door weather strip is in great shape. I just saw a few places where this long strip has "crushed" areas and thought of upgrading. Wind noise is still minimal, but (you know) searching for perfection...... Dealer cost for the strip is $155 - for one side alone! :o 99
  17. I agree.......... I use amsoil 5-30; and for the diffy 80-90W Amsoil synthetic Most guys use mobil 1 5-30 with excellent results too.... I still use Toyota T-IV Transmission fluid though, as it contains synthetic additives and is specially formulated for toyota; since the LS shifts like glass, I'll keep on using it. congrats and send us some pics when you have time! 99
  18. From my past expeerience, when you smell coolant; the heater core is going bad ........... Does it get worse when you run the heater?
  19. this is covered about 12 topics below.... Take a look ...........
  20. Make sure to check those bushings & ball joints while you've got it apart - don't want to do it twice! Good Luck and let us know......
  21. 93ls, Heed these words of advice - They are excellent! You can't tell your mileage by looking at the guage. Do the math for accuracy. Technically, you get the best mileage on the last half of the tank of gas. So run it down to a 1/8 tank before you fill it up. Just get moving within 30 seconds... you can go slow and ease into it. Look at it this way; in 8 miles of your hwy stretch, this will take you 8 minutes - but you've still got your car in the garage! You may have problems, but let's see if you can get 14 mpg first.
  22. That's what we've been talking about. The pressure valve is defective and allow PS fluid to flow into intake - there would be no signs of leaks anywhere because its internal.
  23. Congrats to another LS owner! Show us some picks if you can, we'd love to see the beast Be sure to put the year and milage in your signature and keep us up to date on the joys (perils?) of LS ownership! 99 PS: did you get a good deal?
  24. Glad it work out - always good to reciprocate :D I just got my 60K done too and yes, the LS is one smooth ride
  25. sounds like it is "bottoming out" due to worn struts - a classic sign..... Especially if it makes that "rattling clunk" sound over a pothole or similar. Mechanic can check the Lower ball joints & Bushing for wear. Probably an $800 bill for both sides of front suspension ;)
