  1. Thank you oh great one......
  2. I agree! A box for my cabin filter is labelled "toyota genuine parts" all over it..... the mailing label is FROM: TOYOTA MOTOR SALES TO: SUPERIOR LEXUS You are right on the money......(that is - more money if you buy from Lexus)
  3. Thinking of purchasing & refinishing a second set of OEM 5 spoke rims for my 99 LS. If the wheels have the typical "wear" with some light scratches and NO curb rash, what is required to really shine them up - more than just a wash and wax/hand buff. Do I need orbital polisher, etc..... and can they be "restored" to near "new" condition? Thanks everyone... 99
  4. Sounds like the person that hit you (or insurance) should be responsible.....
  5. Silvermate, What type of cleaner did you use for throttle body? - I have to do Something with the LS once the weather warms.... 99
  6. I think one of the few Syn ATF fluid that has good results is the Amsoil Brand....? I use Amsoil for the engine and diffy but have stayed away from their ATF; the Toyota T-IV has synthetic additives and is best fit . sc4, Do another pan drain (or a couple more!) and the shifting should return to its normal -silky smooth - action :D
  7. I'd check the dipstick first thing......
  8. Blake, Back in town after sunny Miami Weather :D The LS looks good - and I know it'll be in top shape in few months! Keep us posted on all the maintenance & fixes Well done! 99
  9. They didn't take the pan off. Just 2-3 quarts drain and refill. $55 is cheap price just for ATF pan drain - let alone diffy change. I seriously doubt they changed the diffy fluid too.....
  10. jzz, I still think that was a massive undertaking....Awesome JOB! That's what happens after 14 years........
  11. Hey bluethunder, I had another thought......... You don't happen to have your garage remote up in the visor ( or other stuff). The plastic/metal clip on the remote will eventually loosen and that thing will creak like crazy and it's a hard sound to locate - like its all over the place. Let me know..............? 99
  12. And here's the removal.... Install is reverse. Looks & Sounds EASY :D remo.pdf
  13. All they'll do is a pan drain of 2-3 quarts ATF....$3.50 each quart $56 is the best price I've ever heard. See if they'll drain it again after first refill for another $30 or so.....unless you want to DIY. Now for the drive belt. Here's the inspection, ovi.pdf
  14. As everyone has said, it is NOT NORMAL. Give us more info.... Only when fan is on? In headliner around sunroof? Are you parked in shade all day and then this happens when sun hits dash, etc...? Tires @ 2/32"? - or maybe their brittle?
  15. Paul, Please stop - your just killing me I'm glad for you....I'll find a way :D
  16. Oh yeah, They can still join, just put in all the info!
  17. There's lots of newbies that just put in; LS400 nothing else, no year, mileage, etc... I guess I'm wanting additional separate fields for all this...
  18. I agree with you Jetpilot :D That's a classic PS pressure valve malfunction....
  19. Glenmore, I totally argree with your points! Well though out.... I use Amsoil 5-30, just because it's "technically" better. It would benefit me more if I didn't have a garage to store the LS. If a dino user religously changes oil @ 3k interval = 10 changes for 30K miles If a syn user changes oil @ 5K = 6 changes in 30 K miles Therefore, it's only slightly more expensive to run synthetic in the auto.... Now, there have been tests on NYC cabs (typical RWD Fords). They've put whatever dino oil that was on sale in them and run for 6-7K between oil changes. Then compared to "by the book name brand' 3k interval oil changes... broke down the engines...and virtually NO difference in wear over extended period of time (about 50k miles ). So, I suppose, dino oil will get you 250K no problem. My previous 2 honda accords got to that mark. The amsoil folks proudly claim you'll get 4-500K! But by then we'd could be spending 2K+ per year for other repairs - not worth it <_< 99
  20. Very impressive! I'd love to be driving along and pre order my meal
  21. To the high elders of LOC......... I'd like to see MANDATORY FIELD(S) That would be required to fill out in the profile/avatar/etc... section that include: Model of lexus you have Model year mileage New purchase or used 1st, 2nd, 3rd owner...etc.. Mileage driven per year (any other pertinent info) Many have tried to remind people to post this info when they have a question so it can be answered correctly. But over and over....... people don't and it't needed information. Since we've ask in the past and not everybody gives complete info: Make it mandatory when they become new member & for current members too. Even make everyone re-enter this info if we have to for database management. Those of use dedicated will gladly be responsible and put the info back it again. NO big deal, takes 30 seconds the next time we log on.... 99
  22. Paul, Excellent work - you'll sleep good knowing your GS has probably the best lubricants you can get :D I use 5-30 amsoil for oil too, and have the 80-90 gear oil ready to put in this spring - when it warms up. Sticking with the T-IV in tranny for now...I pan drain it every oil change anyway... You've given me an idea to find a shop that I can "rent" for a few hours too.
  23. Here ya go............. regpro.pdf
  24. For any year LS I would think the 70K is nothing more than oil change, rotate tires, and multipoint inspection, etc.... KC cost is around $80 from dealer. The 60K is $550 (no timing belt) , and the dreaded 90K (includes timing belt for my 99LS) is a smooth $1500.........
  25. Are you considering selling yours? Just wondering.....
