  1. Craig, Check this out............ ovr.pdf
  2. Hey guys, another thing to check would be the bolts on the L & R driveshafts coming out of the differential.... They are 10mm hex (two pairs of three) for each side and the torque is 61 ft. lbs. Specs say to check torque every 5k during oil changes.......
  3. I think that's a good move on changing the rotors too........ DIY is about the same as just having the rotors turned by someone else.......and now you have new, full rotors!!! I just bought the OEM pads from lexus -- about $60. (I think I'm getting a Titleist 983E driver.....speeder shaft!!)
  4. Here ya go boys................... pgawest, did you put the brake grease on both sides of the anit squeal shims??? repl.pdf
  5. Yeah it is if you DIY. :) Ha ha!!! Good point 93LS........... Lexur, I stand corrected!!!(just saw the engine mounts and didn't pay attention).....
  6. In addition to my Real 99 LS Manual .......... I've got one on CD....the same toyota PDF files that are used in the Toyota / Lexus Publication....... an authentic CD!! It contains both complete volumes for the 99LS and all electrical stuff too!! I know it helps LOC a ton......so it's fun to share!
  7. Correct 1UZ-FE!!
  8. Two engine mounts @ $88 each = $176.00............ Let me be the first in line to have the dealer change mine out when needed!! :D That would be $4.00 for labor Even if it was $$88 for the pair of MM's...........I'd still take it to the dealer. Flanker, I agree with you 100% that was the best $180 spent in your life!!!!
  9. Believe me......... They don't even think about pulling the pan to check the 3 metal screens!!!! It's just a pan drain (this is all you need to do though) of 2 - 2.5 quarts and they charge you $85.00. They probably overfill it also - which is not good. That's why I DIY for about $8.00 each time............
  10. I've pan drained my tranny FOUR TIMES since I've had the car (10K miles total).....the fluid is perfect!!! Current odometer is @ 63500 miles. A bit overkill I suppose.........but now I can skip and drain it every other oil change(10k) if I wanted - maintenance sched. calls for this procedure every 30K........ This certainly takes the risk out of blowing seals instead of having the tranny full of fluid and under pressure to push it all through....... It's just so easy to do while your changing the oil!
  11. 90LS, I suppose it's possible the sludge is from the infamous PS rack leaking - you know, spitting onto the oil pan under highway speed.........that is, if you've ever had the PS leak before??????? But really, your LS is 14 years old!!! That gasket has got to be cracked in a few pinhole places - all those years of heat/cold, etc.... It's never the miles that get the LS down.........its the age
  12. Here's some torque specs for my 99 LS............ Agree will all of the above thoughts - you need some serious leverage; even add a 1 " steel pipe to slide over the breaker bar and really get the extension out 2-3 feet. This will put some serious leverage in your favor. Keep soaking the bolt!!! comp.pdf
  13. Sounds like a good idea........... Drive it till it's hemorraging and then let it go............
  14. Lon, Sent you an email so I can get you the list...........
  15. Check out this link for the fuel system: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...howtopic=10666& It's current and still on today's first page ;)
  16. Every 5k ............

    New Tools

    Well done!!
  18. Jay Gilberts in KC is a great place to have a filet......(so is Morton's & Ruth Chris) Jackstack Freighthouse for the best barbeque in town..... And I make the best smoked tenderloins you can sink your teeth into
  19. Supposedly the LS 1uzfe engine is expected to reach and exceed the 400k mile mark- up to 600K + miles from the Lexus engineers in Japan. Time and the elements are what eventually cripples our vehicles....Its a solid machine!!! If someone could put 50K a year on the LS, it would take it no problemo.... There was a guy (in Big Sky country) with an 89/90 LS that has 500k miles+ on it - HE was on the cover of LEXUS magazine last summer. There is no doubt the LS can go 500K and more........
  20. Did you change the diffy oil too? (I thought it was you doing this????????) If its not dripping on the garage floor, and you don't need to add a quart between oil changes.......I'd let it slide.
  21. lastly, here's the fuel tank components: All of this is, of course, for my 99LS but yours should be similar!!! comp.pdf
  22. fuel pressure dampener: comp.pdf
  23. and here's the removal: remo.pdf
  24. Its behind the rear seat........ Here's a diagram: comp.pdf
  25. One fuel filter........above the diffy as VMF stated. And yes; the fuel injectors can get clogged up. I've never experienced this problem but others have. I think it is a rare occurance. Craig, If the next trip to Lexus doesn't quence all these issues, trade it in for 01 LS 430 or something :D
