So lately my car has been making this metallic vibration noise coming from the engine compartment. The sound happens only when the engine is cold. I make the sound by putting it in drive and accelerating normally. The sound only happens when the car hits about 2,000 rpm.

It is in the worst possible place ever. It is decently easy to get to, but I would much rather crawl under my car and not make a mess...unlike the current location.

with 364 pages of posts on the 92-06 es forums alone...i would say that this is probably a very helpful site.

well a lot of ppl post questions that have been answered before. Most problems that you will encounter i am sure have already been posted and answered, just do a search.

this happened to me when i had to take my headlights out to fix a water leak. Although i knew all my lights worked, the blinkers were doing the rapid blink. So i assumed it was somehow a faulty connection. I just cleaned off the connection that i had taken off then back on with some wd-40, worked fine afterwords.

a little seafoam goes a long way. Pick up a can for about $7 and clean out your engine. 1/3 in the gas tank, 1/3 in the intake (I go through the brake booster line), and 1/3 in the oil. Basically just read the can and reviews online. Its a great product that has kept my 1994 ES300 running great.

i bet you are right about the edmunds thing and they just used the manual transmission. I am pretty sure that your car qualifies because my 1994 does with its slightly more efficient engine.

I probably just had some faulty struts..had tp replace mine at around 110,000. But then again, my ES300 is a 1994.

i had to make my own tool to get the cover off. I got an allen wrench that was to big and ground it down to fit properly.

it does sound a little like spark plugs or coils...but then again why would it stop after a while. It would be having problems the entire time you drive it.

Well my cruise control just doesnt work, normally i would be fine with this but i will be driving me and some friends down to gulf shores on spring break. Yes that is a long time from now but i would like to get it fixed now. When i press the cruise control button to turn it on it will flash on the instrument panel telling me that it is on...but wont do anything when trying to set the speed. What could this problem be?

I was really dumb one day after a Braves game and i went 122mph in my 94 ES300 with 4 passengers in the car...thats pretty much as fast as i ever want to go in this car. It now has 102k miles on it and i drive it around much easier now...

good luck with those payments. All i can say is that your car was just a dud and i can only hope that i dont have all of those problems on my 94.

well i have a 94 es300 so im not sure if it will be the same. I had to run lines from the stock amp to the after market wiring harness.

ITS BACK!!! the happiness has returned to this lexus driver! i now have some very cold air, and clean transmission fluid.

yea i just found out that its a little over $1100, thats pretty high but since i cant drive it now it would have to be towed...which would cost even more money. Its getting the job done at a local toyota dealer. They also said that the cv joint was leaking and the power steering pump was showing signs of wear. I can honestly say now, after a day of school, that i would gladly take my broken 94 lex over a honda any day.

today my a/c compressor seized up and my 94 es300 would not start. seeing my beautiful, clean baby on the tow truck was about the saddest sight i have ever seen. its at the shop right now but it will probably be a couple days before i get it back...in the meantime i have to drive my bros. 99 honda ex v6, its a great car but better than my 94 lex? i think not.

o man that would be really bad to pay $2400 for a problem that can be fixed with about $100. I hope it is just low on refrigerant.

well at my 40 psi I am averaging 22 mpg in the city. I have a 1994 so my data wont be to relevant.
