  1. It really is annoying - in most other vehicle brands, you just say "Call Joe" and it does it. Is there any way to advise Lexus of things like this for future updates?
  2. I want to make an MP3 disc to use in my IS-350. How exactly should I set things up in terms of directory structure and naming files, so the menus and song names will show correctly in the audio panel? For example, should each album be a directory and each MP3 file under it be named "songname".mp3? Thanks, Russ

  4. .I see no evidence of that. Any documentation of such? It does not happen with my car
  5. Is there any way, through personalized settings, to have the doors lock automatically after you exit the vehicle without having to push the door-handle button? I've found that since I no longer have keys in my hand when I exit the vehicle, I frequently am forgetting to lock the doors - and that's not good! Thanks, Russ
  6. Thanks for the input. I'll check the tire pressure. And the idea that these bigger tires grip the imperfections in the road more makes perfect sense. Here is Southern California, there are A LOT of imperfections in the highways. Russ
  7. I have a new IS 350 w/18"wheels. Although I think that the car handles phenomenally on curves and in the city, I've noticed that my car takes a little more effort to hold a straight track while driving straight at highway speeds. I don't mean to say that it's out of alignment - it's not - it's just that when driving straight on the highway, it seems to wander side to side more than other cars I drive, requiring more driver input to keep it straight. Has anyone else noticed this? Thanks, Russ
  8. I have the 250 engine, but I am getting between 28 and 30 mpg. I drive the freeway mostly, with stop-and-go, thanks to SoCal traffic....... I drive a nice mix between highway and city, not too heavy on the foot, and I'm averaging 20 - 21 in my 350. Russ
  9. Sorry, but Breakwater Blue is the truly outstanding color!
  10. The wood is included in the luxury package. I have it. Russ
  11. Heated and ventillated seats. They are so nice! I just wish the heated seats were warmer!!! If I had to do it again, I would definitely get the memory seats, which I think is included in the premium package, but I'm not positive. I can't stand not having memory seats!!!!! I know, at least they're auto. I'll stop griping..... Sorry folks - the memory seats and steering wheel are only included in the luxury package. It's ridiculous, but that's the way it is. I actually waited until I found a 350 with the luxury package and chose it for that reason - the memory setas and steering wheel are a must in a car like this.
  12. 1. It sounds to me like the voice guidance replaces the music in the front left speaker. I agree, it's hard to hear if the music is loud in the voice-tone, mid-ranges. Not a resolution, but a simple work-around is to simply press the "map" button, and the voice guidance will be repeated. (I usually turn the music down, prior to doing that.) 2. I remember seeing an optional setting in the Nav that I inferred would eliminate some of the mundane repetitive announcements. Might be called 'advanced mode', or 'expert mode' - something like that. I did not try it, because I was unfamiliar with the system at the time. That setting might help you out. If you find it, and try it, please post the results for our information. I don't use voice dialing, but might try it myself for the other times when Miss Nav decides she needs to state the perfectly obvious! Russ, I use voice dial by number and it works great, you say the number the voice repeats it to verify and dial it.. The navigation voice can be turned up so loud everyone in the car can hear it... The voice prompts can be turned off completely if you know all the steps and don't need them.. How does one turn off the voice prompts COMPLETELY? I haven't found that setting. Only one that turns off the initial "please state the command" question. Thanks, Russ
  13. I have a luxury package IS350. I believe that only the luxury package includes seat and steering wheel memory, as well as power steering wheel adjusting. To my taste, these are practically necessary items - you want the car to remember your settings. All other modern cars have this - why lexus only included it in the luxury package I'll never understand. Good luck.
  14. I have the same issues, with my Monster charger (the only one I could find that would fit in the console) You probably want a USA-SPEC or SOUNDLINQ aux ipod adaptor for your factory radio. Itll allow you to control your ipod through your factory radio and ipod and you'll get true digital sounds. Look into stuff like that. It'll also charge your ipod while its connected. Try Al & Ed's Autosound or Crutchfield. Thanks. I looked at those items online. They look great but more involved and expensive than I want. I don"t care about controlling the ipod from the radio - I just want a better way to plug it into the existing aux and power jacks.
  15. Thanks. I'll probably have the dealer do it. This was the first time I opened the hood - just to find practically the entire engine covered by those plastic protectors! Seems like quite a job just to get them off. I'm sure I'd break a few plastic tabs just trying to get them off. Russ
  16. My 2007 IS 350 has the HID Adaptive headlights that turn with the car's front wheels. I've noticed that on mine, the low-beams do not reach out in front very far - far less than on any vehicle I've driven before. This is somewhat unnerving as frequently, it is harder to see curves coming up without really straining. Has anyone else noted this? Is the distance they reach out dealer adjustable? Thanks, Russ
  17. I'm using my new Ipod thru the accessory jack in my 2007 IS350. It works fine, except when I plug it into the power supply at the same time, I get a high pitched electrical hum, alternator noise. On battery only, no noise. I suspect I need a ground loop isolator. The Radio Shack model has RCA plugs on one end. While this can be adapted to 1/8", does anyone know of a small unit with 1/8" plugs on both ends? Additionally, it would be nice to have a charger/audio wire all built into one that has an Ipod adapter on the other end. One end has the cig lighter plug and a 1/8" stereo wire; the other has an Ipod dock connector. Anyone seen anything like this? Thanks, Russ

Poor design - there should be an option to decrease music volume when given Nav Guidance. 2. I have looked extensively for an option to decrease or suppress the voice prompts, ''advanced mode,'' but have not found it. All I have found is one setting in the Options menu that suppresses the very initial ''Please say a command'' prompt when you first push the button.
  19. 2 Questions: 1. When talking on the hands-free phone, my music silences. The music doesn't silence or even decrease in volume, however, when the system is saying route guidance information. This sometimes makes the guidance hard to hear. In my Acura, the music volume decreases automatically when the system is speaking. Is this an option? 2. When using Voice-dialing, I find that I have to use several steps to dial a name tag - 'dial by name" (the lady talks and she has to finish in order to continue), "say the name" (the lady talks and has to finish), push the dial button. With the lady talking in between each of these steps, this becomes a longer process than if I just pulled over to a payphone (including the time of locating one!). Is there any shortcut for this? Thanks, Russ
  20. I was wondering about this - are we supposed to get an emergency card key with the IS 350?
  21. I just hooked up my Verizon Palm Treo 700w in my 2007 IS350. The phone functions work fine but I get no signal strength or battery info on the bluetooth screen. Any way to get these working? Russ
