  1. TheMKIV Supra Twin Turbo 17" Chrome look good one your SC300 and you can find them every once and a while on the Supra Forums FS for less than that with rubber.
  2. DomLee and Nimski62, You guys got engine problems somewhere. I'd start with new distributor/rotor/plugs/air filter like right now. I've got a stock 1994-5sp @ 93k miles. In normal tune this engine accelerates hard straight through 110mph in fourth then an upshift to 5th taking over. My fastest is ~122 or so on the straights of Thunderhill Raceway Roadcourse. There was plenty more left as it was still accelerating hard but I was running out of straight with a hard left to make at the end.
  3. You should abandon the 4" concept immediately. Try some decent 6-1/2" Infinity or JL's in the rear. In the front you are going to have to fab to get much of anything bigger than the 4", so once you start, aim for some 6-1/2" there as well, in fact you can get 6x9" in the front door location. My 6-1/2" Infinity 6002's are well driven by the often trashed Pioneer Premium system, and no, you can not hold that amp in the palm of your hand, it is the size of the cd-changer in your trunk. Though the amp on the factory 8" sub is small and will fit in your hand.
  4. There are handling issues with extreme offsets outside of factory specs. There are alignment issues with same. The tires won't wear correctly. There are additional stress on the wheel bearings and axles with the additional leverage the wheel exerts. These wheel tire combo's typically weigh like 55 lbs each vs factory's 42 lbs. Thats like 25% increase in unsprung weight, not good. They will always look smokin hot on your car and that may be all that is important.
  5. I'm by no means an expert, but I've done brake pads like 20-30 times (SC part of that count) and I flat guarantee I could move those pistons in just a few minutes unless they are really seriously f'd up. I have never had a problem recessing or moving the pistons back into the caliper. What works....typically used: 1. Large Screw driver with a piece of wood as both protection and to gain leverage, protection less important if you are careful and if you are tossing the pads and resurfacing the rotors, YOU ARE RESURFACING the ROTORS, yes, I thought you were. (I use the large screwdriver to pry against the rotor and the calipers just nudge them enough to get the whole caliper to slip off into my hands, then use the following so not to risk things. 2. Large C-Clamp, slowing turning the screw to tighten the clamp and press the pistons back in. 3 . Large Channel Lock Pliers (big !Removed! ones too) Sorry, but I don't know w.t.f socket you guys are talking about, but if its easier, cool enough, but the stuff I use is often in anyone's garage.
  6. Well I can tell you that: 18x9 +38 CES hit the lip in the front ~half an inch 18x10 +38 CES hit the lip in the rear ~half an inch You're going to be 28mm more offset and more hits in the rear, widebody needed. I am pretty sure you are asking for serious suspension and handling trouble with +11 offset, that's way beyond factory ~+50. I am probably going back to Supra TT oem 17's at some point.
  7. Its been more than a year and I never heard from anyone again about these. I want a 2 pod if available. Me thinks this is dead thread though....
  8. You can easily defeat the check engine light with a with a 10K Ohm 1/2 watt resister from Radio Shack (Part #271-1126). Here is a how to link: http://www.mohdparts.com/egr_mods/defeat/index.html The egr plates are commonly available on eBay for $30 shipped. There is much advice and how-to's regarding the EGR in the Supra Forums and MKIV.com. Sum dem garduHaTd fum hI-Scrwl. The 2jz is seldom pushed harder than by the guys posting there. :P
  9. Don't post when you have absolutely no freaking idea wtf you are talking about... ("ERG COOLS THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER") not! Do you turn the oven on to cool your house in the summer ? Fact: The factory EGR system in the Toyota 2jz-gt and 2jz-gte engines was designed to help in emissions reduction by allowing hot exhaust gases to be recirculated into the cool incoming air inside the intake manifold. While this was a helpful from an emissions standpoint, it has negative effects on any engine, N/A and particularly on a turbocharged vehicle that relies on cool charge air temperatures to make horsepower.
  10. Sergio, Is there a way to get an audible confirmation or a light blink when I activate/de-activate my factory alarm on the '94 SC300?
  11. See http://www.intellexual.net/faq.html imho, The SC300 has many upgrade paths via the Supra Turbo that is close to being its mechanical twin. The other cars have some upgrade paths, that just are not as frequently travelled.
  12. The na Supra and the SC300 both have the 2jz-ge engine, so the parts are identical. The owners manual and shop manual tell us to use 5w-30 oil. There is nothing to question on that and no reason to do anything else in normal use.
  13. Yes, the SC is every bit a capable as the Supra, they are the same chassis. You should thiink of the SC300 and the Supra as mechanical twins. The sheet metal is different but under that they are near identical, yes the Lexus is slightly longer. The Lexus is the luxury version with a better rear seat vs the Supra's flat out sports car bias. You will find that you are talking about direct bolt up brakes, springs, shocks, cut outs in the body panel to allow for SMIC piping, interchangeable fuel pumps, brake hoses, engine mounting brackets identical. There are more. Exhuast is single vs dual. Go with a 5 speed, you will have a much easier time in with your Getrag 6-speed conversion. You can use a 5 speed up to about 450 rwhp from what I've heard. Push past that point at your W58's peril, so I hear. Do a google on "Angel SC300"
  14. Here's a question for those in the know: Is there an easy way to close off the egr that is reversible for the smog check/inspection? In CA, they will check for a funtioning erg. This would need to be reversible for that event.
  15. Go with Hawk Brake Pads and stainless steel lines for now.
  16. I was able to sourse the OEM black lip that appears on the SC400's from a salvage/recycliing yard. Not sure if this qualifies as a "spoiler". It certianly looks nice. The installation was not particularly easy, but it did come out looking factory.
  17. You probably should put in a new distributer and rotor to complete the other end of the spark plugs. Mine was not in great shape. Careful with the clips on the distributer.
  18. If you can change your tire, you can do this brake job (speaking of SC300). Buy Hawk Brake Pads, have your rotors turned at a local shop ($10-15 each rotor). That is $135 for pads, $60 rotor labor, $10 brake fluid, your're done at ~$200 better than new.
  19. Lex3486, You are the enlightened one. SC4's never had a manual offered. See http://www.intellexual.net/faq.html#01 Quote: "Manual transmissions were never offered for the SC400 and were discontinued after 1997 on the SC300. "
  20. "When I ask if there are any mods out there, all I seem to get is a half cocked response like....you really ought to just put the Supra Motor in it. Well I am not one to conform, and this just doens't suit me. " As the saying goes "suit yourself". Ok, imho, you are going to do one hell of alot of work and spend one heck of a lot of money doing what you describe. Then you are going to feel like absolute crap when one of the "conformists" with a 2jz-gte swap having done some realitively easy mods blows your your flippin doors right off. It takes not that much to get these engines into the 400's at crank, but drastically higher numbers are possible. You can be the first, but you are very unlikely to even stay close to a bpu 2jz-gte and you may spend much, much more time and money for your efforts. ok, your reward is being original, but you will not have a quicker car to show for it.
  21. Something is way off with that dealer. The IS does not have different width tires Frt/Rr. You can search and confirm this easily. Yes, I have purchased set of the 7.5", however, I sold them after confronting the pathetic tire choices.
  22. Warning: You need to do alot more research for a reality check. A partial list that you have not even considered: ecu, radiator, fuel pump, MAF and Pipes, Ignitor and resistor, IC, D/p, midpipe & exhaust. Things you are lilely to upgrade or add: FMIC, BCC, EBC, Guages, better brakes, bigger wheels/tires to stay on road. I am at about $5k plus another $2000 for the optional stuff, all used and bought via forums and ebay at drastically lower prices than most have paid. Plus installation puts this approaching $9k. If you get this done for much under $7k you have done well. All of this without the 6-speed, that's another $4k easy. Many will say my numbers are low.
  23. I found to my disappointment that there were only a handful of tires for the IS300 17" ers (7.5") that fit the SC and kept the speedo accurate within reason. Also, the GS400 rims are wider @ 8", they will hold a much wider array of tires, though you will pay more for them, especially in chrome.
