  1. Hey LuIS,

(love the way you did that by the way)

Of course I couldn't have that on mine because I'm old(er), but that being said, I do love the way it looks on your car. In spite of my being a little older, I still enjoy driving like you do which has it's pleasures and the other stuff. I have found that driving like I enjoy in my IS is difficult because of people who drive like snails. Light turns green? do the AARP thing and drive like there is an egg between your thier foot and the accelerator (to save gas) which causes 10 people behind them to miss the signal. Aghh

Well when I have the opportunity I either move to SPORT mode or M and give them some pipe. Unlike the snails, I really try to get the worst possible fuel economy which may sound stupid but hey, gasoline is very economical right now and I for one and going to put that to my advantage. Got my IS250AWD down to 19.7mpg, best (lowest) so far.

My friend just HAD to go out and get a 2015 IS350 f-sport after I got mine. No sweat since I swear his is the one I test drove. Well took that puppy out for a "test" drive yesterday and here is what I think. In every regard except raw of the line acceleration was his better than mine. I certainly never liked the big tach since I mostly drive on roads and it is an automatic. My tach works fine and the rev limited will not let you over (I tried).

So you boys keep having fun and certainly encourage all you Lexus friends to check in here.

    Denny

Hello Denny and thanks for the complement. I like your is250 also you keep it nice as well. I may be as old as you and I believe that if you are a car extusiastic age wouldn't matter. Now that my kids are grown up I am able to have more chance to make more mods. This vehicle is mostly my weekend car. And when I drive it I become young again.

  2. Hello all.

After a few weeks of research later I finally got it I installed. I went trough a couple of challenges since this wing spoiler is. It made for the Is300.but I am glad I did this and makes the is Unique like if its made for it with no mayor modifications.

  4. Hello everyone, my question is has anyone have installed a wing spoiler from a Subaru wrx sti 2011-2014 wing spoiler? I seem to like the that kind of new spoiler and if its possible to be installed into a first gen Lexus is300? I know there is an OEM that looks similar, but I would like to have the new design.

Ia have posted a pic so you can get an idea.

    Thanks .

  5. Sorry it took me a while to answer. I finally got the PKE and push button star installed. Let me tell ya, it required a lot of relays, specially because Lexus door locks are sophisticated.am not so good at relays.so I got a little help from a mobile electronic pal. Our Lexus vehicles has a trtransponder integrated in our keys, so a Remote start bypass module took care of that, but am sure it can also be done another way without the use of the bypass module. The system works great and it is universal. It just takes some time 2 get around and had 2 do small mods. But in the end now when I approach to my car...The doors will unlock as well as I leave the car the doors will lock and the alarm will activate. As Of the push start feature we all know how that works.

Am glad how it turned out.

  6. Hey guys.

I would like to install a PKE(passive keyless entry) with push start /stop on my 2003 is300.

I understand that the stock security system is integrated with the ECU but i was wondering how can i deactivate it so i can install the new one.or is it possible that i can leave it alone since i will not be using the key at all since the new system will be doing it on its own!! Am also asking if anyone has the stock security diagram system.

Thanks help will be very appreciated.

  7. Thanks for the tip and the Link , its also a goog deal. Honestly i didnt think on replacing the tensioner, why not do it alll since ill be taking it out anyways ,Right. It will also save future mechanical failure. How about the crankshaft pulley seal? is this something i should look into?i was looking into other Aisin manufacturing kits that include other conponents, or is there is no need to be replaced? Thanks again for ure suggestion.

  8. My 03, Lexus is300 has reached almost 60K. I inspected the timing belt by taking the front belt cover off, and it seems worn on some edges, so i need to get it replaced. in addition the spark plugs, wires, radiator flush, serpentine belt, etc.

My question is should i pay a mechanic or should i do it myself? I am very passionate on working on cars. I am not a mechanic but i know enough to get my hands on.

I know i have to take the radiator off so i can have room to get to the cramshaft pulley. The cramshaft pulley may be the must toughest part to take off cause it will require special tool.i have an idea of what to do..

I know how to replace the spark plugs on this particular car .Am also aware the timing belt needs to be align where number 1 & 6 Piston is on the upper posittion and that there are marks on the pullley and upper camshaft . I would like to know if any of you had done it and what should i expect or if you have any tips. Thank you guys.

  9. yesterday I had taken out the rear coilover from the rear again and even dissasabble it to see if i had done something wrong, but everything seem right. I think it may be comming from the bump stop as when the car travels . can that be an issue? is very hard to hear were is comming from i hear it also when i bounce the car. i recheck all the other areas that i have loosen on installation but theire all tight.

the reason i said is comming from the stop mount is because when innitially adjust the sprin to were i can turn it manually, the stiffer i put them the less i hear the sound, but i dont want them to put them to stiff.

    any other suugestions???

  10. HELLO SMOOTH 1. i WOULD LIKE TO ASK YOU FOR ADVICE REGARDING COILOVERS...

I Just installed my car with dampers coilovers on my 2003 IS300. I have 225/40/18 Front & rear. I am not sure how much the vehicle is lowered. all I can say the car feels and look nice.

can you tell me how to adjust the camber. Please post how. I have called and taken my car to several reputable shops that do alignments and all are stating that the camber in the front isn't adjustable and the rear, may only be adjusted up to +-.3

If I need to buy a camber kit and witch one work best, please advise must shops are saying that i will need to put on a set of camber kit, but if it isn't necessary, please instruct me on what to tell these shops that are stating that there isn't anything to adjust. Thanks.

I didn`t need to replace the rear strut mount because they came with theire own, but i noticed that the stock are like curbed. I hear a noise on the rear like if the coil may be rubbing because they are straight and not like the stock. Does that mean the coil is rubbing on the chassy? or is it because it need to be align. please help and thatk you for posting a link how to install coilovers. it help me alot

    thanks.

  12. Just so you know, I've heard alot of people have cel issues from the short ram/ cold air intakes. That could be your problem right there. If the cel comes back, you might want to think about putting the original air box back on and see if that cures the issue.

cel ???Yeah I suspected that this may be the problem, I thought K&N are good but I guess not on the IS. how does short ram/ cold air intake cel affect in this case. i wonder why. I dont really want to change back to the stock one. what would you recommend....

Am still sticking to the advice you gave me before, I have checked the sensors and seems ok. I will wait by changing gas stations brand like shell, Mobil, and 76, I have not seen any issues yet. I was thinking on maybe doing a different mod in the future withe engine, perhaphs, changing to an SRT intake but That will probably be in another department. Let me tell you I have seen how you are thrilled about cars, and how you have done it all by yourself by keaping youre rides nice, The Is 300 looks nice. I wish i can do that someday, hey am getting there. I have many friends that own the new gen, but not in black. Black is a nice looking color. my 03 is black but the sucker is hard to keep clean.

    Thanks.

A "cel" is short for "Check Engine Light". The MAF on these cars are pretty sensitive. Alot of the short ram and cold air intakes seem to produce turbulant air intake. That and the fact the ECU's on Japanese cars don't adjust/compensate for the additional air intake ability like say a Ford. So really, I would just use the stock air box, and maybe a Joe Z pipe with a Blitz, K&N, or comparable drop in air filter. It would make your life a bit easier. The SRT does get you a few more pnies, but it uses a piggy back ECU that has to be wired in to your exsisting ECU, which is really where your getting the HP from. Unichip now makes an aftermarket piggyback chip that can get you about 12-15 more HP also, but they're $700.00 crazy!

Oh that`s what CEL means. I learn something new every day about cars.

Ive never heard of Joe Z pipe till today but it looks simple to put on and specially it gives out some more horses. I will look into that. I just hate letting go of the intake cause it makes a nice sound, I was actually thinking of doing a complete cold air intake or CCA so the filter would get better cold air. but oh well I had it for about Two 2 1/2 years. but at least I get to keep the high flow HKS exhaust pipe. Some day I will do a turbo but that would be a big project for me. I want to appreciate all your help.

  14. It's possible your having an issue other than the o2 sensor, but seeing as how your here, you just as well make sure it's not the simple, cheap things first. If after your sure it's not the O2's and your connections, then maybe you won't have much of a choice. Have you cleaned the MAF, intake and throttle body recently? When was the last time you changed checked the spark plugs?

I have taken out the sensors and rechecked the connectors and plugs, everything seem ok and did not noticed nothing unusuall i make sure i erased the codes and i just have to wait and see.

Two months ago I purchsed a throttle body cleaner from a local Auto shop. I sprayed on the buttlerfly and clean it throught. Is that what u ment ? i have not taken the car to have it done at the shop the MAF seems clean. as far as the intake I curently have on a K&N typhoon cold air intake i also keep the air filter clean. Sparkplugs??? no i have not look into since it will be a process take them out as you already know. My car only have 45k miles. I know that they need to be replace every 60k.

  15. What did you replace the 02 sensors with? I mean brand and type.

I replaced two brand new DENSO o2 sensors that I bought on ebay. they were universal in wich it can only be used before the CAT (Bank 1 sensor 1 and Bank 2 sensor 1). I changed the same wire color as explained on the box. four wire :black, black heater, and white and the other blue. I make sure they were the right color and came with the hardware that was easy to install. I dont know why i got the same codes but a month after p133 and p153.

Are you sure your wire connections haven't come loose? Even if you have to pull the connectors and just reconnect them and make sure. Then erase the codes and see if they come back. If they do come back again, then I would take the car in to if the sensors are bad. Maybe you got a defective sensor or sensors. I don't know how much you saved by getting them on Ebay, but if you go to Denso direct you can get them for 40(ish) bucks each.

    Here's the link:Denso Website

I have already erased the codes. It lasted one day for the code to reapear and it came back few minutes right after i started the car, but this time only bank 2 sensor 1 was detected as low reading or code P153. weird only one code came this time i wonder. if the other one was bad it should have shown the code. I haven`t thought of taking it back out and recheck the plugs. I will try it and see if the code comes back again. I will look into the website u gave me. thank you for the advice.

im not looking forward taking the car to a mechanic, but i guess it may be something else wrong. You dont think is the kind of fuel im puting ARCO 91/premium?. I guess gas is gas but maybe is affecting the injectors from getting dirty.and maybe it was never the sensors in the firt place. I remember it lasted four months before the code appear again with the same codes.

Maybe I need to drive my car more ofter cause I only drive it about 15 miles or less a day.

  17. Hello I need some advise what to do in this case.

I have recently replaced two new Denso o2 sensors bank 1 sensor 1 and Bank 2 sensor 1 because of an engine light indicator was giving me the following codes. 133-153. My car has about 47k miles and it was odd to me why my o2 sensors will go bad, but from a recent post i learned that they can go out regardles the milage. i went ahead and replace them and erase the codes with a code reader.

I had to get a Smog and it PASSED with great readings. but after about a month my engine light came on again and gave me the same codes I had before. I have already replaced them. I dont know what else can it be. plese help. i usually do my own repairs and had success till now.

    Thanks.

  18. hey guys I own a 2001 black IS300, and I bought it used.. the last guy that had it before me did something to the needles in the instrument cluster so it doesn't read right... think he broke them and glued them back in.. but I bought a new cluster from the salvage yard and I'm not sure what year it is.. But when I plug it in it doesnt work correctly. the rpm's, and all the lights on the left side stay on???

can some please tell me how to rewire or how to fix this thanks

    p604@cox.net

I`t seems like the guy who sold this car had some problems on the car to begin with so he probably tried to mess with the light bulb on the cluster. My guess is to check first the combination meter circuits, There are two connectors, make sure to compare the old one with the one you got from the junk yard. There must be something wrong with the interchange with the meter ECU. Check the wire harness on both. If engine light is on take your car to a tech for a diagnose there may be something wrong with a sersor or circuit somewhere in the engine compartment. Check all junction block (Fuises) on the car. One is on the driver side, the other one is on the passenger, the other one is by the battery and finally the ECM box that is by the right strut. Make sure to use an resistor meter
