  1. Took it to yet another shop and I think we found the problem. Its the front lower control arm bushings. Also, he recommended to replace rear upper control arm bushings too? Any suggestions if I should replace the whole control arms or just the bushings?
  2. The car is 1998 GS400. I checked again and it appears that all doors except the driver side door respond to keyless lock/unlock as well as when I do it from inside the vehicle. Its just the driver side door that doesn't respond except by putting the key into the door. Looks like its the actuator. Thanks for your input.
  3. 1998 GS400 - 165000 miles. I bought it at 96000 in Jun 2006. Had to put new front struts, tie rods, starter, alternator (multiple times), a/c compressor (multiple times), drier, timing belt, waterpump - and then the ususal like tires, battery, brake pads/rotors etc. I have had the car for 5.5 years now and have easily put about 7000 USD in repairs into it. Have been very dissappointed by this Lexus reliability wise. I do still like its power and feel and the interior and exterior condition is pretty good for a 1998 so am gonna keep it perhaps till 200K miles or maybe a bit more. My next car will not be Lexus.
  4. When I push the open/close button on my remote key, all doors respond except the driver side front door. When I put the key into the driver side door and lock or open from there - all doors respond except for the driver side rear. Any ideas what I should do to fix it?

  6. I have 1998 GS400. In cold weather, specially during mornings, when I drive the car I hear a squeaking noise coming from the front when I go over a bump or uneven road patches. Once the car has been driven for a few miles and heats up, the noise goes away. However, if the weather is under 50 degrees (I live in Houston), then no matter how long I have driven, I would still hear the noise. I do not hear this noise in summers. I have the front struts replaced recently but that didn't make any difference in this noise. I got it checked at three places - One of them says its the control arm bushings, the other says its the strut mounts, and the third one is suggesting to replace the upper control arms. I have not noticed any problem with steering. Any ideas what is causing this and what should be my course of action?
