  1. I haven't been here in a while but can someone explain the disappearance of the 2006 IS250 / IS350 models in the sub forum categories? And where did the 2006 IS300 come from?
  2. According to the 2007 Lexus IS Repair Manual, here's the following specs: For 2GR-FSE: - Minimum disc thickness is 27.0 mm (1.063 in.) on the front and 16.5 mm (0.650 in.) on the rear. For 4GR-FSE: - Minimum disc thickness is 25.0 mm (0.983 in.) on the front and 8.5 mm (0.334) on the rear. You'll have to check your owners manual to see which one applies to you (i.e., 2GR vs 4GR), however, I believe the 2GR applies to the 350 and the 4GR applies to 250 but don't quote me on that. Again, these are the specs in the OEM 2007 Lexus Repair manual that applies to the 2007 and the 2006. Don't know if there were any changes on the 08s and up.
  3. The dealer charged me $105 ($25 per tire pluse tax) to register my new setup as a second set. I actually bought the new TPMS's first (from the dealer for $106 each...ouch!!!)and had them installed by the wheel shop that I purchased the wheels and tires from. If you do that, just make sure to annotate the ID# on each sensor and the location of the wheel/tire they are installed (i.e., right front, left rear, etc...) I had no issues with the registration. Good luck with your install and send us pics when you can.
  4. Ebay. You'll still have to go to the dealer to have them registered to the ECU though. I just replaced my stock wheels with TSX wheels a couple of weeks ago and I've uploaded a couple of pics that I hope you can see. The wheels are 9.5" in the rear and 8" in the front. Tire size are 235/35ZR19 on the front and 255/35ZR19 on the rear. I don't have any problems however anything wider then 8" on the front will probably cause some rubbing within the wheel well. Good luck on your new setup and I'm sure you'll love the change is appearance as I do.
  5. Look into increasing the ratio number from 45 to 55 or 60. That will give you a higher sidewall. However, be careful not to get a tire that is too high or it will rub the inside of the wheel wells when you turn the wheels to the max.
  6. It just doesn't make sense that anyone in this day and age would not wear their seat belt. I've been wearing mine all my adult life (30 years to be exact) and it's just second nature to reach for the belt after closing the door. You actually feel naked without it on. I have to put such people in the same category as those that smoke in the car with their kids. Be smart, develop a little patience and just make it click. You'll be safer and your problem with the so called annoying flashing light and/or chime won't be an issue.
  7. I just had my IS aligned at Firestone after purchasing tires online. I bought their lifetime plan for $149. I got the same plan for my Honda about 5 years ago and it's sweet to be able to take the car in for a check or whenever you buy new tires knowing there's no additional cost for an alignment. With the cost of a single alignment around $70, the plan on the Honda has paid for itself over and over. Hell, Lexus wanted $157 for a one time deal.
  8. Sorry to hear about you unfortunate experience. Do you have any pics you can post? You have to be very careful now days to whom you have mount tires on these expensive wheels especially the painted ones. If it was me, I'd be climbing the coporate ladder if the shop is not willing to work with you. I'm no expert on mounting tires and don't know if the machines they use can cause damage or not however, you seem to be pretty sure of yourself of their condition prior to handing them over to the shop for installation and I have no reason to doubt your assessment. Again, these wheels aren't cheap and I know your inspection was thorough. As for any advice, reccommend you go to the following site and find a repair shop near you to get an estimate of what the cost to repair will be. http://www.awrswheelrepair.com Questions I have are: How can they own up to the chips and not the bends? What reputable installer would not mention the fact that you are requesting new tires installed on bent rims? It doesn't make sense. You would think once the installer noticed the damage, he or she would stop to make sure the customer is aware before proceeding. I just replaced my front tires I bought online and had the dealer install them. They were a little higher of course but I was able to keep my peace of mind. Recommendation to all; whenever replacing tires, go over the condition of your wheels with the installer or better yet the manager to identify and document any discrepancies prior to any work being done. If they have a problem with that, take your business elsewhere. Good luck in getting this resolved to your satisfaction and keep us posted on the outcome. Oh yeah, make sure you check them out on the Better Business Bureau website to see if there are any similiar complaints against them that could be used in your favor.
  9. sorry but, u have already post a new topic on ur FLOOR MAT issue, please discuss it there, many ppl here are having CLUTCH & FLYWHEEL problems and please delete ur post, thank you !! I echo what smooth1 & barkat said!
  10. Yes! There is a difference. I also have a RWD and was issued an AWD filter element by the Lexus parts manager last year. Upon checking the box before I paid for it, I discovered it had addition hardware that I didn't receive for my prior oil changes. The parts manager quickly realized he had given be an AWD filter element and swapped it out. Not sure where the extra o ring goes or whether or not the filter elements are different. I'd just insist on getting the right part for your car.
  11. You would think the recall would be more specific as to what type of mats are causing the problem. As mentioned earlier, the Lexus Custom carpeted mats with the grommets that go over the hooks should be good to go but only if they are properly installed. I have an 92 Accord that I bought new and the mats in that car have always slid. My IS has just under 33,000 miles and I've never experienced a sliding problem; even with the clear protective mats that I purchased from the Lexus dealer as they aren't going anywhere with all the cleats on the bottom that are biting & gripping into the carpeted mats. Personnally, I'd recommend that everyone physically attempt to get their mats to slide no matter what type and then make an educated decision on whether to pull them or not. If they move, I'd err on the side of caution and remove them.
  12. Has anybody here experienced any problems with the driverside floor mat getting caught on the accelerator pedal? I haven't although I have the Lexus customized clear mats on top so maybe they are holding the carpet mats down. The recommendation is to remove the mat. Just wondering if anyone in the LOC is having problems and what Lexus plans to do to rectify the problem.
  13. The one that goes in from the bottom is #75867-30120. You can get it at any Lexus/Toyota dealer. I had one that was hanging off so I just removed it then removed the other side. No more problem. Not sure what their actual function is anyway.
  14. Not sure but the front headlight bulb might need to be replaced. The constant light on in the dash may be by design to alert the driver that something is wrong (i.e. you have a headlight out). Let's us know what the diagnosis was.
  15. $200!!!! That just doesn't make any sense. I just changed both my engine air and cabin filters for my 30k. I got both at Pep Boys for $19.99 for engine & $11.99 for the cabin. Both are made by Purolator. When I changed them in 2007 for my 15K, I bought them from the dealer for $42.56 & $23.99 so I was extremely happy to see them carried at Pep Boys for such a discounted price. I'd be willing to bet other auto stores carry them as well. I did check the quality with the old ones I bought from the dealer and I could see nor feel any difference in quality. DIY and save $, it's not that hard.
  16. Alice, You might want to check other Lexus dealers in your area or state. I know at one point last year the Lexus dealer that sold me my car had side molding displayed in their parts store. I inquired on the price which was enough to turn me away. They came in various matching colors but were over $350.00 if I remember correctly without installation. The last couple of times I was in there I didn't see them displayed but I don't think it was because they were selling like hot cakes. B) So again, check with other dealers as someone has them. If you don't have any luck in your area call my dealership in Newport News, VA (Charles Barker Lexus) at (757) 234-6000. They may have them in stock or at least a good source for them. Good luck.
  17. I use Meguiars Mirror Glaze #7 Show Car Glaze on my Accord's trim. I discovered it several years ago when I accidently rubbed some on my trim. I was shocked when it turned my dull flat black looking trim in a vibrant new shiny surface. Of course, try it on the most inconspicuous small area you could find first.
  18. Randy, IMHO, I've never used anything but water to clean my windows. It safe and you can beat the cost. Beside once you wash the car to include the windows with whatever car wash soap you use they should be clean. During the drying process I just use two clean towels dedicated for the windows. One I wet with just H2O to wipe the entire windows surfaces and to prevent any water spots from formulating followed with the second dry towel to finish the process. Just make sure you work one window at time again to prevent any water spots from formulating and drying. The results are streak free windows. It's been working for me since 1977. I did try Window on my first car way back then but I could never keep it from streaking. Hope this helpl DrJamz
  19. I just tried my IS250 MT and after trying different combinations I got it to work. The successful combo is a follows: 1. Start engine with emergency hand brake on (in up position). 2. Press the foot brake twice and hold 3. Release the hand brake to the full down position and pull up ( do this twice leaving the hand brake in the up position) 4. Press the foot brake twice again 5. The traction light should come on indicating it is turned off.
  20. Who refers to a "slot" as a "dimple"? Dimples are round, like on a golf ball. I'm not sure what cards you are putting in the slots, but my parking stub at the parking garage fits perfectly. One of my colleagues lost his prepaid bridge toll card key behind the dash of his VW, through a little gap. If he had a "slot" in his visor, he would not have had to have the VW dealer dismantle his dash to get it back. Come on people! Slots and dimples is like talking apples and oranges! The slot whether you have one or two is not mentioned in my brochure (06 Model IS) but it is obvious at least to me that it's a card holder. You can use it to hold tickets if you like but for this military retiree it's a perfect fit for my military ID card and readily accessible every time I pull up to a base entry gate. Driver's license are a perfect as well. Bottomline, it has nothing to do with acoustics.
