  1. Awesome post! I had the same problem awhile back, but I never replaced the contacts. I just cleaned them up a little and the car starts like new.
  2. I have the same error (p0763) with an input/output sensor error. It's at the mechanic right now and he says there are metal shavings in the tranny pan. 80% he says likely the CEL will go off and run like new after he replaces the shift solenoid. The 20% is what scares me that could be the transmission.
  3. Anybody else have this issue or any comments on this?
  4. This was taken from someone named Denise "We just bought a 1999 Lexus (our first) GS 300 with 9,324 miles on it from Carmax with paint, interior, engine, and trunk that support this is truly a very low mileage car. Our glee was dashed when the third day we owned it the "check engine" light came on. A desperate call to the local Richmond, VA Lexus dealership put me in touch with a service rep who (informing me that Carmax usually performed a thorough check) provided the following solution and explanation. He did say to FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER. With the car off as though you were at the gas pump, take the gas cap off and leave it off for 30 seconds. Replace the gas cap and TURN IT UNTIL YOU HEAR THREE CLICKS...THREE CLICKS...CLICK, CLICK, CLICK (it sounds more like crack, crack, crack). The "check engine" light should go off after you have driven the car a few more times. He added that this coud take a couple of days. The light was off the next day. Something about if the gas cap seal is not tight, it will make the car think that there is a pressure leak which will trigger the "check engine" light. Of course this means that every time you get gas you have to make sure you turn the cap until you hear at least three clicks or else the "check engine" light may keep coming on." Hope this helps
  5. Thanks a lot man, I'm relieved that i can save some money. If you can point me to the direction on that thread for DIY starter I would appreciate it even more. I'm a little new to this forum and I found the general maintenance and did a search for starter and couldn't come up with anything. Thanks Again!
  6. OK... here goes... 1. The first problem is that my car thinks that my passenger door is open after changing the door light on my passenger side. Now the door light doesn't work at all and while I'm driving the open door light is on my console and car goes " DiiiiinG " after awhile. (I tried changing the fuse located under the glove, still no good.) Any suggestions? 2. When I try to start my car it goes " Click, " after a couple " Clicks " the car will start. I'm guessing it is the starter contacts after searching around in the forums. Could I DIY? If Yes, where can I get the parts. 3. When I brake sometimes I hear a big " CLUNK " coming from my driver front fender and I did some searching it could be fixed with a shim kit? Well, I guess this is a normal thing. I guess I can stand it for now, but if there are any suggestions on how to fix it, I would love to! (I have aftermarket brakes/rotors). 4. While I'm driving, I hear a spinning noise like it could be coming from the tires. Not sure though. 5. The door actuators going out. I've read up about those. It makes the " bap bap " noise when you try to lock up. Well, that's about it for now that I can think of. My car is making all sorts of noises. Haha Any/All suggestions would be great. Thanks!
  7. Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me. My Gs300 thinks that my door is constantly open, but it's not. The reason why it happened was because i was trying to replace the courtesy bulb on the passenger door with some tweezers (like an idiot) because it was smoking hot and I think i short circuited something. Now the lights stay on and the car keeps beeping when I drive it, thinking that the passenger door is still open. I've tried changing the door fuse located under the glove, but still doesnt work. Any Suggestions?? Or if anyone can direct me to the door sensor, I would appreicate it! thanks
