  1. Instead of replacing the idle up vacuum valve on the PS pump with a plug, I went to the local Pic A Part and paid $1.50 for one off of a truck (they are common in the Toyota line) and installed it without any problems i.e. no smoke, no leaks and a properly operating PS system. The valve is slightly different in that it is a little bigger and is made of metal not plastic. I chose the truck because the pump is located up high and easy to get to. Hope this helps
  2. tighten the ground screw in each bulb tray assembly. I have found they often loosen up and lose continuity
  3. Oil drain pan and a funnel, 10, 12, 14 & 17mm wrench and sockets, flat and phillips screw drivers with these tools you can pretty much disassemble the whole car
  4. If you guys would have searched you would know this is a common problem with early ES and SC models. Search these forums for all the fix's or go to www.lextech.org and read there.
