you can try to locate your ECM and put it into test mode, write down the codes it gives you and later on just try to find info about those codes online, after putting your ECM into test mode it will reset it, and your check engine light should go off, also those error codes should give you some info about what is going on in your car. for cars younger then 95 there is a special scanner for those things but for cars before 95 you have to do this manually. i'm not sure how to do it on lexus, i did it on my brothers legend and my friends maxima and it worked. try to look for more info on how to do it for your LS. thanks for your advice, but this procedure is like 50$ and is done not by a dealer but by local mainenance shop and i'm just not sure if they doing everything right. please let me know if i can do it myself and what kind of fluid should i use? i used a regular transmission oil before.

i'm not sure about your year, but in mine when i got this problem i found out later that my amp, which is under the passenger seat was damaged due to cleaning, i checked the amp and figured out that 3 out of 4 outs were dead. output transistors exploded because of water. so you might as well check your amplifier outputs.

your dash trim looks really good:) now i'm thinking of gettin one for myself, i got exacly the same radio and same temperature controls and even the cd changer door is the same, looks really good on your picture!!!!!

i would recommend you to check on ebay on a regular basis. ive seen them there couple of times. and also if you see some1 selling parts from your model email them and ask them if they have the part. some people do $ by buyin total lost cars and selling them by parts on ebay.

i dont have a picture but all 90-94 models had pioneer and all 95-2000 models had nakamichi and 2001 and up have mark levinson. you can also check your amplifier under the passenger seat to make sure that it is nakamichi.

3 weeks ago i noticed a little noise when i was turning the wheel while the car was not moving, so i decided to flush and refill the steering wheel system. the old fluid was all dark and greasy and there were a lof ot it. i got nice pink fluid instead. when i checked it 2 weeks later it was all black and looked like used oil what might be the problem?

is there a decent intake system for a 1996 ls 400?

i had something like this, but my engine check light went on, and when i went to the dealer he resetted my comouter and said that i have to keep the ignition off while refuelling, otherwise this problem can happen again, so try to keep it off. he said that they have some kind of isolated cicle which is based on the pressure, so if u have the tank open and ignition on, you car computer will get wrong data from sensors and this problem will occur.

for 150 he did a compound and then wax the whole car and painting i got for 400$ for the fender and the door. with this claybar i just apply this bar on the whole car or i should rub it in?

how do i use this clay bar thing? i never did it myself, 2 weeks ago i paid 150$ for a guy to do it for me, and did pretty good job, but there is still some overspray left. Damn i wish i could have find that guy who scratched my fender!!!!!

helle every1, i saw nice rims on the street last nite and now i'm obsessed with them. they seem to have one part that rotates independently of other rims, so even when the car stands still this part is still moving , or when it moves it rotates with a different speed, and this makes a wonderful sight. any idea where i can found them and how much they gonna cost me? thank you in advance

does any1 know how to get rid of the overspray? there is one big region on my bumper and i have no idea how to get rid of it. i also have some on my trunk and roof.

i was about to get those tires but then again my local tire shop convinced me to buy smth like those tires locally but with 2 year replasement warranty and free swapping and free balancing. so i went for that deal and i ended up paying same money. i wanted to install 235s also but guys at the shop told me not to do so on the original rims because it might kill the steering wheel pump. so you better check with the dealer or some1 who knows the car really well. i got those cheap tires becase soon my dream will come true and i will ride the hood with my new 18 inch rims and low profile 235 michelins!!!!!

is there a K&N filter for 96 ls 400? my friend got one for his 98 gs 400 but i was not able to find it for mine, also as to supercharger for my car, people in the performance shop told me that my engine is too big and there is no space to put it unless i have around 15k for some expensive mods. they told me that for V8 japanese engine it is really hard to put anything under the hood. as to exaust, is there any particular model?

as a matter of fact i can, but they are not as noisy as when its in drive, as to angine movement, there is a lot, even when its in idle and rev the engine i feel whe whole car shaking, i tried that on my brothers legend and it didnt move at all.....

check for specs online or in the manual i found out that mine can do 156 mph, but it is 1996 i did only 145, got scared to go faster, but i remember lookin for the max speed online so open google and try to find it:)

last week i noticed that when i put it into drive it kicks slightly and sometimes it also kicks when i'm already moving and it is shifting from low gear to higher gear. does that mean that i will have to change my tranny soon? also when i put it in to gear but not yet moving, there is a strange noice from the engine like smth is tickin really fast, what could that possibly be?

i have a 96 ls 400, and this fan situations is completely normal, if you didnt notice there are 2 fans on the inner side of the radiator, so it makes total 3 of them, the temperature is also normal, just as mine, and i recently flushed the cooling system and filled it with toyota cooling fluid, as to shocks, you can get cheap original OEM toyota shocks by out of state dealer using site www.parts.com i speicifically recommend the texas one, (cheapest) and then go to your regular mechanic and replace them. as to tires, it all depends on what kind of ride you want, if you ride fast then get yourself V rated tires, they are lil harder then H rated, but speed is worht it, and the difference is very small, i converted to V rated tired 2 days ago and i'm enjoying it, my kickin in the steering wheel dissapeared. as to the brand, i got cooper tyres because i was not ready to spend 800$ + install on michelin tires. for tires go to www.tirerack.com and choose the one you like Enjoy!

as to scratches and aged paint, try to do compound and then wax, i had to repaint my rear right fender and my whole car was in overspray plus bunch of minor scratches, after the compound and wax it looks like new, i'm gonna upload new pix tomorrow so you can take a look on b4 and after
