  1. not really no, the only time when you gonna need to turn your wheels is after you refill your PS system or while you flush it. i would recommend keeping front wheels in the air while you are turning the steering wheel just as a precautionary note not to kill the pump. factory repair manual also suggests that as far as i remember. lost volume one somewere:(
  2. when the car is parked, turn the engine on, ask someone to turn the wheels while you should check under the hood for the location of the noise. if it is in fact the ps pump, then check the fluid level and check if you have any leaks, also you should clean the screen in the rack and pinion assembly, when its dirty it puts bigger strain on the pump which can lead to premature failure. it can also trigger pump to be more noisy.
  3. i got many dents as well and now some dood on the beemer scratcher my rear passenger side fender, waitin for ins money and i prolly just gonna repaint the whole car. here in nyc it usually costs 300-350 for any part of the car eg doors fenders etc. i got a quote to repaint whole car for 2 grand:) if they are charging you 350$ for a dent, just repaint the door:)
  4. a lot of things can white, u have to pinpoint to where in the engine you hear the whine. in my case for example one of the timing belt pulleys bearings what whining. ps pump usually only whines under load: when the car is stopped or moving slowly and you turn the wheel. the only other time when you gonna hear whining form ps pump is when there is a lot of air in the system. at least in my case this is how it was and my 96 ls is exactly the same as your 95 one.
  5. i drive 2 miles one way to work:) its really cold here now so it takes a while to warm it up. this is why i get 12:)
  6. during winter and driving in the city, i get 12 mpg:) and im not complaining, i only use premium gas. on the highway i get 22-24 mpg tho.
  7. i think only canadian models show u C. if you find you, please do share though, i would love to change mine to C
  8. sounds like the starter clutch does not disengage properly. sticks to the flywheel and thats why u get this noise. never heard bout that on LS tho, but my friend had it on his wrangler. it sure does damage both your starter and the flywheel. starter is not designed to rotate at the speeds of the cold idling engine. it can also mess up teeth on the flywheel.
  9. just let the car sit for 24 hours and it will go away. you can keep the cap open to make the process faster.
  10. never even concidered puttin anything lower then 91 into the car. ecu was programmed to work within certain boundaries with high octane fuel. putting lower octane fuel puts more strain on all engine components thus shortening a cars life. when you buy a luxury car you should expect to put a premium gas into it.
  11. i have michelin sport AS tires. best tires i ever tried!
  12. pretty much useless, bought one, could not extract any useful info, had to buy factory repair manual.
  13. i have the same problem on my 96, after research i found out that its a firmware bug. thats what they said about second generation of LS.
  14. more details def would help. how did this problem start? what did you do so far in terms of troubleshooting besides checking the power at the coil and fuel pump. when you turn the ignition on, does you dash lights up? starter cranks? check engine light?
  15. agree with above post, got a cpo ls430 well maintained. my 96 ls is also maintained pretty good and so far has no probllems. maintaince is the key to long life of the car.
  16. acura or infinity or honda or toyota or nissan no more american cars for me.
  17. i had the same problem, turned out to be a battery, after changing it everything went back to normal
  18. OEM Denso shocks are MUCH better then any aftermarket. u can get them for the same price if not cheaper at www.newlexusparts.com
  19. can you recreate the problem? is the phone on or off?
  20. thats fine, i guess i will stick to silicone and O rings:) not worth changing since its only leaking throught the oild drain.
  21. how much did you pay for the labor?
  22. hmm, my oil drain bolt thread is messed up, so when i asked the mecanic he told me that to change the oil pan he would need to life the engine.. i guess he was trying to rip me off.... its good to know. thanks
  23. Unless they changed the pan for VVT-i models you don't need to lift the engine to remove the lower oil pan. isnt the 98 and up VVT-I?
