  1. you 05 LS is out of warranty?:) i would go to the dealer to replace the bulb just to get a nice car was on "lexus approved car wash":)
  2. you can get that used, try callin taprecycling.com they might ask you for a vin, but if you tell them u dont have one, they don't insist.
  3. vins do have color code in them. in fact even 2 if your car is 2 tone:)
  4. i got too lazy to make pix and write a howto on the shock replacement. did it over a year ago when my car had around 150k. procedure is rather time consuming, especially when you have to compress the spring but relatively straight forward. i also changed rotors, shims and pads, all OEM, that and suspension work gave the car a brand new ride feel, i cant really feel the difference beetwen the 96 and 04 cars when you drive around 30 mph.
  5. might be a tranny mount, not an engine mount. i usually check engine mounts with a prybar.
  6. frankly i dont remember, my brother was takin the rear seat out while i was workin on the front struts. i think there are only bolts that hold the top one, the bottom just try to pry or pull but im not sure
  7. i did change them on my 96 LS myself and didnt have to do driveshaft removal or any other "removals" except the backseat. its pretty straight forward and should not take you longer then 2 hrs for both. but just to clarify, is the spring really broken?
  8. top it off and let it run, but then just let the cap off but not when you are driving, but when the car is parked and engine is off:) e.g overnight:) dont forge to put the cap back on before you start driving
  9. are you sure it is not dripping? the growl might be due to the air being in the system. top the tank and then keep the cap open. that should take care of the air in the system. no special bleeding procedure required.
  10. your 93 LS has a completely different caliper and rotor your has only 1 or 2 pistons, while 95 and up has 4 pistons in the caliper, 2 on each side. the stock rotor size is 13 inch. stock supra size is 12 inch at least thats what my friends 89 supra has. so im not sure how second gen LS would benefit from using supra brake kit. plus its not an easy job to convert it. i think supra is using 4 lug pattern while ls is 5 lug.
  11. you dont have to change springs, just change shocks. OEM toyota shocks are around 70$ a piece. it takes hour or hour and a half to change them if you gonna do it yourself. you also gonna need a special tool to compress the spring, it is available for rent absolutely free from autozone.
  12. a year ago i changed rotors and pads and shims and it made such a big difference you would not even beleive. btw i used all stock parts. they are cheap if you buy them online and with your 4 piston front calipers it doesnt really matter if you use drilled or slotted unless of course you are a really aggressive driver and tend to overheat your brakes or want to stop on the dime. slotted rotors will reduce your pad life by a lot and drilled rotors, if not drilled in proper locations can disintegrate and seriously damage your car. ive seen this on my friends maxima and it was not pretty.
  13. i used regular autozone fluid for a flush but then i used toyota tranny fluid. would not use any other brand, price difference is not that big. and from what i can remember it did say to use toyota tranny fluid only.
  14. if you get cylinder 2 misfire, take the plug out and check for spark. it might be a bad spark or bad cable.
  15. are you tellin us that you tinted your front windshield? wow, you are going to be a cop magnet:) the antenna for the gps is on the roof so im not sure how tinting can affect your GPS reception. it is probably a coincidence and you should have your GPS unit checked
  16. heh, i had co change mine twice, already, mine had weird location for a cornerlight bulb , it was actually sticking out and they had to make a bump on the cornerlight so guess what?:) i broke it 2 times pulling out of the garage, thinking about going to back oem parts, if only i could find them in the mess i have in the garage.
  17. as far as i know average is around 80-100k, but this is for early LS models. breakdowns could have been also caused by aging components. despite lexus quality and reliability getting higher and higher, i would advice not to get a car with 90k miles and 6 years old. those pneumatic shocks are very expensive and hard to maintain and if you decide to switch to regular suspension it might be just as costly. i have never done it since i never had a car with air suspension but i heard that even on early ls models switching required changing certain cirquits besides all the hardware changes, but if you are willing to take a risk and still get it, make sure your extended warranty is going to cover air suspension. you never know when its going to hit ya, all i can tell you is that evdentually it will:)
  18. check if it also happens under heavy acceleration while driving slower then 100.
  19. white smoke usually means water or coolANt in the system. what kind of maintanence was done to your car?
  20. it is rather costly to fix air suspension. does the dealer provide any kind of warranty? if you buy it and it breaks, ive heard here on forums that people were switching to regular suspension after their air suspension let go.
  21. i used to have them in my older LS, had to replace em every 3-4 month. tried different brands with no success. switched to HID 3 years ago and had no probs since then.
  22. there is a cirquit responsible for switching from battery to alternator and for charging. it looks like it have gone bad. first thing i would do is to test relay in the engine compartment that is marked as "charing" or "alternator"
  23. quite likely, when you dont have enough fluid pump sucks in air from the reservoir and this is what usually makes the noise.
  24. dont think its gonna b that much. over here it stopped snowing already and we only got like 2 inches. the storm is moving your way so you should get the same amount:)
