  1. i also get OEM filters only. they are dirt cheap at irontoad.com i just buy em in bulk and keep em home:)
  2. it has nothing to do with age, my 2004 LS with 40k miles does exactly the same thing as my 96 LS with 170k miles. it is absolutely normal
  3. your tranny is dying. thats pretty much it. from what i know you cant do much about it. you can try changing fluid, it can either help or just kill it completely. if it jerks from what ive heard, teeth on the gears might be broken off, this is why it jekrs, those broken teeth get in between gears and break more teeth. that happend to me on my old chrysler, had to rebuild the tranny.
  4. feeling is not going to go away:) i replaced H rated tired with Z rated and it didnt help much, chaning lanes fast speeds was still waay to shaky:) after i replaced all 4 shocks with OEM ones it made such a drastic difference that now its hard to me tell the difference between my newer and older LS:)
  5. i have pretty much same rate for my LS400 and civic:) amount of cylinders does not matter, i was thinking about buying evo X but when i called ins, they quoted me 4k just for that car and it only has 4 cyl!!!:) got 04 LS430 instead and insurance for it is only 900$ per 6 month for full collision.
  6. i would advice you to go with OEM, same price and it would allow you to keep the ride quality that lexus is famous for:)
  7. this is perfectly normal, even my newer LS idles high when started cold. what i did with my older LS is i installed remote start so i start it 5 mins in advance:)
  8. i also had same dilemma, i was thinking about parting with my 96 LS to get rubicon, but so far i cant let it go due to personal attachment and financial reasons:)
  9. i got the same noise, its not radiator tho:) still not sure what it is, sounds like the car is farting:) i have this for few years now and did not cause any trouble so far. it might the vacuum system.
  10. bought the kit from this seller that you lprovided the link, turned out its out of stock only after 3 days of waiting, he kept promising me that he is going to send it to me "tomorrow" for a week, asked for a refund today and he claimed that is is already shipped, asked for tracking number and of course didnt get one:) what a liar:) finally, after me asking him to solve the problem without involving ebay procedures, he agreed to withdraw the transaction and issue a refund. sneaky seller. i do not recommend.
  11. is it nakamichi or pioneer? nakamichi has cd changer above the glove compartment.
  12. same here cant wait to move from my 04 LS to the latest and the gratest and upgrade my civic to evo x:) from what i know mb still produces cars with crappy quality, all my friends who used to own mb, moved to lexus and infinity. bmw got a lil better within last 2 years while mb and porsche still no go.
  13. different class, different engine, different suspension, different interior should i continue? you cant really compare these 2 cars
  14. also look at the papers then sent you, right now if you decide to walk away from the deal, you are breaching the contract, not them, so they can keep your money, while if they dont cancel the auction and give the car to some1 else you can claim your money back since they breached the contract. if you dont get the car, call and if they refuse to give you the money back, threaten to take them to small claims court. make sure you have copies of all the papers and read the fine print on your contract. best of luck in resolving this.
  15. i had this problem on my civic, turned out after installing intake, i didnt secure the ground bolt properly and radiator fan was suckin ground power through the rest of the circuitry. check all ground connectsions, if they are shared between different car components, it might be your problem. but first check battery and alternator since its easier to check and eliminating those 2 possibilities out of the way will make the picture more clear.
  16. sounds like the tranny problem, torque converter may be? not releasing in a timely fashion i guess:)
  17. wow 500$ for a hose!!! but most important is that the car runs fine now, IMHO many mechanics overcharge lexus owners just because of the brand, this is one of the reasons i started working on the car myself.
  18. forgot to mention that the site i mentioned sells only OEM parts. dealer charges 11$ if you buy it from the parts store and 8$ if you buy it online.
  19. wow thats a pretty cheap price i have 6k kalvins in my 96 LS. and i think the bulb type there is H3 if i remember correctly. kit works just fine, except there is no high beam. from what i know 96 LS and 2001 civic use same bulb type so the kit you listed should fit in mah civic:) starting bid 5$. the guy is very confident that his product would sell for a decent price, i sure hope its not going to:) cant afford with all the expenses on the LS430. now that car has some awesome lighting! i love the way projectors move, i wish i can install it on all my cars. i paid $250 for the conversion kit for the LS, how much did you pay for yours?
  20. www.irontoad.com filters there are 4.50 a piece and washers are .8$ enjoy.
  21. The '95 LS uses two bulbs in the headlamp assembly, three if you include the fog light. One of the headlamps bulbs is dual filament wherein one of the filaments provides low beam coverage. The second bulb is single filament and is used along with the high beam section of the dual filament bulb for "good" high beam coverage. This second bulb is also used as the DRL light source if the vehicle is of canadian origin as mine is. The HID hi-lo coverage is so good, excellent, that I have disabled the power to the second, single filament, high beam bulb except for DRL use. The HID hi-lo is accomplished with an electric solenoid in the base of the bulb that moves the HID arc center back and forth from the low beam position to the high beam position when the high beam wire has voltage. We also have a '92 in the "family" and I plan to try another hi-lo set there soon. IMMHO it was the early LS that really had POOR headlight pattern coverage. You could adjust the beam upward and have good low beam coverage and have the high beam illuminate the night sky or... weird, when i converted mine, the high beam is so bad that i dont even use it and i didnt disable the high beam bulb. what kit did you use to upgrade?
  22. i take all my cars "offroading", even my dropped civic during my camping or hiking trips. so far no damage whatsoever, and im not talkin about gravel, im talkin bout stones, grass etc, and sometimes no road:)
  23. how many bulbs are burnt? i got one under one of the buttons in climate control section and another one under the button in audio section. when you going to do the job, if possible, make pix and document it, it would be a nice howto for this job for a second generation of LS and im sure its going to be appreciated by many members here, including me:)
