  1. with the car gettin older and older and maintanence costs raising, i would rather sell it and get myself a newer GS or LS. this is what i'm planning to do eventually, once i will get a lil more established and my wife finishes her batchelors and me done with my masters.
  2. do you hear hissing from the speakers when the ignition is on? put the volume to the highest and check for the hissing noise. if you dont have the noise, check the power to the amp, amp is located under the passenger seat. looks like the power to the amp is gettin cut off.
  3. pulsating brakes does not mean that you need to do a costly rotor change. brakes pulsate because if you overheat them the pad material sticks to the rotors and makes the surface uneven. you DONT really bent the rotors. you CANT bent them, they would crack before they would bent. there is nothing wrong with resurfacing, just dont take a lot off. usually it costs around 10$ per rotor. the only reasons to change the rotors would be when they are too slim or when you failed to replace the pads and scatched the hell out of them.
  4. OEM pads dont come with shims.
  5. why not? usually when you install new pads its good to have your rotors resurfaced. this will let pads have better grip on the rotor since all previous scratches are removed.
  6. i do:) check out my pix in the gallery:) yes i replaced that bulb with the red LED ligt on both sides.
  7. used dynamat exreme in my ls and my civic, took whole interior out and applied it all over. didnt really do much in the lexus but noticed a big improvement in the civic when it comes to road noise. engine is still pretty lound since i got RSX engine with the intake and exaust:)
  8. i had the same problem, had to switch to ceramic pads but they started to squeal after few month as well. this weekend i'm changin my shock absorbers, rotors and pads, i will let you know if that is going to help. i also head that lexus pads are directional, did you put the brake quitener liquid on them? did you glue the shims?
  9. pins and screws are not made specifically for your model, i bet all toyota and lexus models use a lot of parts in common. so you shoudl be able to go to the either toyota or lexus parts department and get whatever you need when it comes to mechanical parts. the only part from my experience that had to be ordered from the main quarters was the interior carpet oh and the screw that holds the dead pedal in my civic was also not available and it took em 2 days to get it for me. your screw and pin can be found in thousands of other locations in your car.
  10. in new york legal is 35% and sometimes the DO pull you over just for the windows. you can say that you bought a car like that and sometimes it works and they will give you a warning. if they give you tickets you have to decide whats best for you: taking the tint off and not paying the ticket or paying the ticket.:) i know states around ny are the same way. in NJ you cant even get state inspection if you have tint. in pennsilvania they dont care at all. in ny they are closing eyes on this issue most of the time. we got so many cars with all those "JDM" ligts of all colors, big buckets isntead of mufflers, intakes etc that if they police would start giving out tickets for all of that ppl would go broke:)
  11. mine started around 122k it all depends on the way you drive the car and the weather i guess.
  12. you certainly can push the factory limits, make sure you check the state the timing belt is in and listen to the pulleys, if they make whining noise around 800-1000 rpms that means you HAVE to change the belt and pulleys and tensioner ASAP. while ure there i would recommend changing the water pump. i did this change myself and if you want i can send you the document or you can just search google for it, its been published on plenty of sites:)
  13. dont get the OEM windshield, i would recommend you to get michelin pilot sport AS tires. those tires are awesome! changed whole LS experience! brought it to completely new level!
  14. there is a pretty ez way to find out if its the amp or the speakers, put some static tape on and put the volume to the max, then listen to all the speakers, if you hear hissing from the speaker then the problem is with the headunit and not the amp if there is no hissing then it means that there is a problem with the amp or wiring. to check if its amp try to check the output from the wires on the speaker side, check the resistance as well and this will show u whats goiing on
  15. really depends on the tires but avg is 32 i have michelin pilot sport as and i keep them at 32
  16. high rpm around 1500 while the engine is cold is perfectly normal, engine was designed to funcion this way. you dont need to take any actions to prevent this.
  17. i ended up ordering new carpet, the old one was FUBAR, all stinky and fiberglass underneath the carpet was all bad. plus there were holes in the carpet under the pedals since the previous owner did not use floor mats since the car was leaking. now i'm going to have a brand new carpet:) and i'm going to recushion the seats with leather:) this civic is my project. i cant do much with my LS so now i can play with this civic since this one is out of warranty
  18. what kind of degreased you used on the carpet? i dont think i can take the cloth of the seats in mine :( i looked and i dont c the way i can do this.
  19. i'm currently workin on the project of takin my 2001 civic apart and putting dynamat all over :) while the seats are out i want to clean them to the near new condition what kind of places do this kind of service? also the carpet stinks and got few holes in it, i wonder if i can put the new one in or what can i do to take care of the smell and holes? i think the car leaks somewhere so i will drive around without a carpet under the rain to check where the leak can be.
  20. just woke up and saw the news, i really hope everything is ok with our members from England and their family members. please let us know if you guys are ok.
  21. i would not recommend getting the spread spectrum model, there are a lot of glitches. get a regular latest model FM based alarm. radius is slightly less but it works much better. i tried all of their models and SS model is not the best one.
  22. i would recommend getting it:) extra security would not hurt plus it has some very nice features liek remote start and dual way so you always know whats going on with your car i have it in all my cars
