  1. the easiest way is to just loosen the ends of the bumper enough that you can get your 10mm in there to remove the bolt on each side for the headlight. remove the bolts on the top, and gently nudge the headlight out of the lower clips. its pretty easy if you take your time and are careful. i did this to replace the projectors in my wifes RX400h with totally clear ones.
  2. I've got a 2001 LS430 with mark levinson audio and what you are describing is what happened when the amp died on my car. replacing the amp in the LS fixed the problem. I'm not 100% sure about the RX400h.
  3. yeah, put it in reverse and punch it in a empty parking lot/street. the engine wont rev, it may turn on but it wont rev high like flooring it in Drive. reverse is all electric i believe it is stated in the manual also.
  4. +1 for Alenzas. my wifes 2006 RX400h has them and they really do well in the snow. we're in Iowa and regularly get snow. just getting ready to replace the set she has on the car(with more Alenzas) and they still are performing well even with lower levels of tread left.
  5. Hey there... Depends on what speaker. The original Lexus phone is wired to use the driver-side rear door speaker(s). Is that the one that's out? The connection point for the phone system (as well as the Lexus Link) is in the trunk on the right hand side. The in-car mic, the door speaker and power are all routed through this connection. If it's disconnected both the NAV system mic and that rear door speaker set won't work. If you remove the floor cover on the right side of the trunk you'll see 2 ECUs (one of these is the Nav system) and a white connector. In the attached photograph it's the one with an X on it. If your car doesn't have LL or the phone you'll have just two of these guys; make sure they are connected fully. If you have LL (like the car pictured) you'll have 2 pairs of these guys; and if you have (had) the phone you'll have 3 pair; you might have to play mix and match to see what needs to be connected. Good luck! jainla you are brilliant! that was exactly it. it was completely disconnected and stuffed down underneath the dvd unit and the other ECU. i dont know why someone would have done that, but they did. im just glad you were willing to help. thank you so much.
  6. i have a 2001 ls430 with NAV/ML. i want to integrate my ipod classic 120gb into my stereo, maintaining all steering wheel controls and a clean factory look. i was wondering if anyone had any experience with either or both of these units. i've looked at both units online, and like the lower price of the usa spec but i liked the way that vaistech described their unit more than the way usa spec does(they state that there is no guarantee that itll work). but i just wondered if someone had info to sway me one way or the other. anything helps. thanks.
  7. i got the amp, got it replaced really easily. stereo works again. still having the problem with the door speaker/mic. any info/help on this would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
  8. i ordered the amp(I'll have it early next week), we'll see if it'll fix the speaker/mic problem when i replace it.
  9. I ended up getting my amp from my local Lexus dealer. I told them that I found an amp online for $495, and they gladly offered to match the price. Lexus backs the unit with a 12 month warranty. I might of been able to find an amp for less, but I was tired of messing around, I liked the warranty, and I was able to purchase locally. Thanks to all for you support and assistance! checked with my dealer and they told me they couldnt get anywhere near the $450 electronics master from georgia was selling it for. it was far below their cost they claim. $720 exchange was dealer price. i ordered mine and should have it early next week. i cant wait to have my music back.
  10. any word on this? i didnt know if the amp was going bad and caused the problem with the speaker and mic(if i replace the amp will this also go away), or is there a separate box that could be causing the problem. thanks for any advice.
  11. i am looking for an amp also, i have a 2001 with ML and NAV. any help in locating one or repairing this one would be helpful. thanks
  12. i had a question about this also in 2 parts first i have a 2001 LS430 with NAV/ML and i think the amp died.... also i was wondering about the quote. the part about the speaker and mic not working. my car doesnt have Lexus Link but i was wondering if the fact that i had a speaker not working in the back(pulled it out and tested it, it is good.) and i dont think the mic works. my wifes 2006 rx will misunderstand voice commands all day long. but in my car it just acts like i havent said anything. i didnt know if it was possible that this connection would still be present in a car without Lexus Link, and if it could lead to a problem like the no speaker and mic dead that im dealing with. thanks.
  13. do you have any way of posting this so others could take a look?
  14. what about something like this. http://cgi.ebay.com/Lexus-LS-LS430-NAV-Vid...=item588566a927 would this work? could i still add a vaistech ipod adaptor?
  15. i was actually curious about this also. i have a 2001 LS430 with NAV/ML, when looking at the nav system in the trunk there is a plug that is just sitting there, doesnt look like it has a place to go. didnt know if that had something to do with the back up camera? its about 16-18 wires, a white plug about 1.5in x .75in. there is also a small blue plug that looks like a sat radio connection taped to a larger bundle of wire. if anyone has any info on these and their function it would help. thanks
