  1. Hey guys, long time no post. Got a quick question for you (the search i tried was exactly yielding the answers i was looking for)... My trunk-popper switch inside the car, right next to the gas lid popper, doesnt work anymore. It was working perfect on friday and then all of a sudden on saturday, it stopped popping the trunk and since i have to use my key just to open my trunk up. Has anyone encountered this? Is it just a fuse that i have to change? all help is greatly appreciated. thanx!
  2. IMO: I hate to say it but i dont think the 2 tone idea would be very good idea. I happen to think that is one of the ugliest things i have ever seen. HOWEVER, to each their own... everyone has their own tastes of what looks good to them. It's his/her own's car, so do what makes you happy. If you feel that a 2 tone paint job will look good then more power to you!
  3. hey thanx guys for the good advice. I guess at this point its time to finally start the swap. whats weird is that this problem was going on about 2.5 months ago and then all of a sudden the starter problem went away. Now it's back. Strange. I just drove up to san francisco from LA and back for thanxgiving. The problems started the day after i got back. Im not sure if the long drive had anything to do with it. SPORTcoupe: Actually no, the trip meter was always consistent. What does it mean if it resets?
  4. did a search and didnt get an exact match to my problem. need help guys. Not sure what is going on with my SC, but sometimes when i try to start the car, all i hear is a "click." It would take a couple minutes of "clicking" and sometimes all i get is half a crank. I have a perfectly good battery, new air filter, and a recent oil change. Starting the car was never a problem until now. what do you guys think?
  5. can anyone please stick to my question here??? im asking for recommendations not off topic questions BUT to answer some, the 1jz and 2jz are twin turbo motors. The 1j is the JDM 2.5 liter true twin turbo found in the soarer, chaser, and mk3 supras while the 2jz is the 93-99 supra sequential twin turbo motor. the SC300 can run forever if you change out the lil things here and there. I know of a guy whose SC300 original motor is going onto 300,000 miles. A lot of ppl have over 200000 miles. But its all about replacing parts here and there. As far as turbo goes, its your own judgement call. The 2jzge (our stock motor) has tons of power potential. Im just swapping cuz i want a new platform to work with. im sure someone can back what im saying.
  6. Ok guys, its time for my engine swap but i do not know where to go. I called SP engineering and even then with their hook up price, they wanted to charge me $10,000 for just labor alone. Im not kidding. LABOR ALONE. i have another shop in mind but they wanna charge $3500 which is not bad. If anyone else knows another shop that does JZ swaps please lemme know asap! thank you!
  7. same here! i been looking for a while. It was either that or have a body shop paint all the interior trim pieces including the wood trims this is all i found. http://www.bitrim.com/wd157.htm
  8. hey man, i been searching for 1j soarer clips forever! only ones that i have found were chasers and old MK3 supras. If you find a soarer clip, please let me know! thanx!! :D
  9. im just as curious actually. i havent had any problems with their products... but this coming from a consumer is what i need to hear. skperformance: which coilover did you get?
  10. you heard right, heres his website: http://www.fly-hawaii.com/lexustt/ this guy knows his stuff!
  11. Being sponsored by JIC, i would have to tell you JIC all the way on a toyota/lexus. I have Tein on my other car and they are good too, but the FLTA2's are way better on my SC. a good way to test it is to goto a nice mountain...take it for a spin. :P
  12. it really depends on the color of the car. If you have a candy color, bright finish car, then polished or chrome is ok. I hate to say it but chrome is a lil too bright and shiny if you ask me. Usually with a nice japanese car such as our SC's, JDM brand rims are a better choice. 19"s are perfect. 20"s are pushing it but still ok. I have been competing and judging car shows for years, all i can say from a veteran's and judge's standpoint is that the bodykit, paint, and rims amongst other exterior pieces must all flow together well. Anything that looks out of place will lower your points for overall display. just some tips. BUT rims are always a touch of personal taste of the owner. TO EACH THEIR OWN.
  13. thanx for the tip. From what i have been asking from everyone, they are telling me to use a standalone unit. the reason im swapping a 1jz is $$$$$$ the price differences between the 2jz with the 1jz is quite a lot as you already know.
