  1. Hey didnt want to start a new thread for this Q so hope no one minds if i hijack this one. The tach needle illumination is not working on my 93 ls (the needle still reads rpm i just cant see it), everything else on the dash works. Please dont tell me it means taking apart the dash to get it back :cries: ty david
  2. trannys back together cannister is in, trac light is gone but i still have the jerky feel on take off, it revs then launches. im thinking the o/d light is a resault of a bad cat, they smell way to hot and could be causing a o2 sensor to trip. the o/d light comes in 2.5 second intervols.
  3. actually scott your probably right i flipped through my bills and it was july 10 i had it in at the dealer, maybe its time to take it back in again. i still havent tried what shelly said with the brake fluid i have taken appart my tranny and finnished installing the charcoal cannister.
  4. I had a diagnostic a while ago at dealership nothing was wrong so its obviously a mechanical issue
  5. thanks shelly ill try that! the problem with my throttle is its very unconsistant, if i step on it all the power is there one time then the next its totally different. it seems like it just lugs allong allot i feel i could get out and run faster i think a V8 should have a lil more power than that. i also noticed it takes a long time to get moving and when it finally does i feel a jerk maybe i should check ATF? my O/D comes on after i drive a while and it keeps blinking its very annoying i have replaced my fuel tank cap and soon my charcoal cannister in an attempt to stop this problem, what next oxygen sensors?
  6. today i replaced my tps with the hope of getting rid of the my unconsistent throttle response, O/D light coming on and stupid TRAC light staying on after a while of driving. I think it has cured the TRAC problem but O/D still comes on and i still have unconsistent throttle response. Im going to be replacing the charcoal cannister i hope that will get rid of O/D light but does anyone know if all ls400s have this crappy throttle control problem and if not how do you fix it?

  8. I am thinking of getting some wald rims in the summer so i was shopping around for some low profile tires to with them. I was told by a guy from kal-tire that yokohama avs es100's have very little road noise and are really grippy but ive never heard of anyone putting these on an ls400 any thoughts?
  9. my rear doors dont open all the time from the inside of the car maybe like 1 in 10 times it catches and opens. Also i changed all my lights to a led blue and some times they come on some times they dont, the switch seems fine it opperates smoothly . Does anyone know whats wrong?
  10. do you know where else you can get wires cause i was looking at some nology hot wires but they are kinda expencive like 350.00 and seem like they would be for serious preformance

I dont know how many other people have ordered spark plug wires from vitek preformance but im having a world of trouble getting my wires from them and its already been charged to the credit card. I ordered my wires back in october its now going on to january and if you try and contact them they alwasy give you the same bull*BLEEP* reply that is they moved their company and dont know where any thing is WTF!!! What kind of crap is this. Has anyone else had these problems?
  12. Does any one know of a way to convert your stock cd changer wiring harness so it will work with an aftermarket cd player that has auxillery input in the RCA phono plug format because as usual you loose your sub by installing a new cd player but i dont want to loose my cd changer as well.
  13. thanks for your replies i did change my airfilter when i did the tune up i dont think my problem lies with my tps or stop screw any more but i never checked my maf i think ill do that tomorrow
  14. i know you can get toyota supra 4 pistion calipers and slotted rotors and those fit on ls400s i was looking into that for my celsior (ls400) and if you were to get ss brake lines as well it would be a reasonable upgrade from the stock ls400 brakes. not sure if that answers your question though.
  15. what is the lowest possible safe idle speed for ls400/celsiors i know it should be about 650 but i recently changed my spark plugs / wires and while i had the throttle body off i though id clean it. now it runs at about 400 rpm it feels like i have an engine from a 69 camaro, though it doesnt seem to have trouble running at such a low rpm in canada winter can be bad for cars with low idle and i just dont want it to stall. tomorrow i was thinking of checking my throttle stop screw to see if it was accidentaly loosened and also my throttle position sensor but is there any thing else i should look for? any help appriciated thanks.

  17. i saw that website before and i was thinking of doing the hood struts that way but only as a last resort. and does any one know if celsior's have egr's usually its right infornt of the pcv valve but tonight i wanted to check to see if my egr vlave was dirty and if i could clean it but there was nothing there. no egr wtf?!?! i just cojured up a logical explination and i assumed japan has less strict emission controls if any one knows what toyota did with my egr plz tell me. oh i found this place http://parts.lextreme.com/interior.html to order an lcd from has any one gone this route and is the site reliable?
  18. thank you all for your help unfortunatly i cant order off ebay to get those hood struts but i may be in luck i herd of a 1995 ls 400 at the scrap yard im just going to hope those hood struts will work and are still there on friday.
  19. hello im new to the forum all though i have been coming here for a while i finally decided to sign up last night. After reading all the rants and raves about ls 400's i wanted one, and this past saturday i settled on a right hand drive 1991 toyota celsior that had been imported from japan not too long ago and has reasonably low km's. im hoping you ls 400 guru's can help me out with some problems that i've noticed. first off ofcourse my climate controle lcd has black screen syndrom so i was thinking of sending it to mikado for a rebuild. i have read allot about the lcd problem on this forum and mikado has been mentioned many a time and seems reliable, but shipping it all the way from canada may be an expensive route if any one has more info on rebuilt lcd's results please let me know. second my hood struts are out of gas, another common problem i have read about in these cars so working on any thing involving the engine is a problem and requiers me cramming in a stick to hold up the hood. i may have found a place http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...m?siteid=213808 to order actual lexus hood struts from but they say hood lift cylinders i was assuming these are the same as hood struts? they cost 63 dollars each but thats better then dealership prices. third my sub is craking when i have music on i want to replace it but from my understanding there is a built in amp in the sub does any one know of an easy replacement for these subs or will it requier me running an additional amp to power any after market sub i put in. and what about aftermarket mp3/cd players i wanted one with 2mb storage so i could put songs from my ipod on to it but i read that you loose your sub putting a different cd player in is that true if so how can i change it so i can still have all 7 speekers going? fourth my celsior seems to be running rich, if i start it up get out and go around to the back i can clearly smell gas also my rpms are high, maybe 1000 or so i checked out my air filter today and i found it pretty dirty i am planning on replaceing the spark plugs and wires to hopfully lower my rpms (and possibly a rod millen racing intake) but could it be a bad egr or pcv valve that is causeing that rich smell of gasoline? any help would be apriciated thanks.
