  1. Same here, my 93 300 rear main has leaves small drips in my garage now for 3 years. I think its about $400 to fix but so far no problems just check oil level ounce in a while.
  2. My 2 cents. Had rough idle problem. Replaced Idle Control Valve. Better idle but still rough after driving a bit. clamped off EGR hose Bingo! Car is running perfect. ERG valve with labor $160. Not today. 92 SC 300 stock 156,555 miles
  3. My problem was Idle control valve. $700 including install-OUCH. They also want to clean injectors $150, is that reasonable?
  4. I just had my 300 in shop and I will be replacing idle control valve. $700 ouch! They also want to clean fuel injectors for $150/ Is that normal? Car has 155.550 miles and runs great. They are master toyota lexus tech's.
  5. Wow must be door gremlings this week. It just happened to my 300/ I think the cold weather had something to do with mine. Passenger side opens from inside only. There are DIY on Club Lexus forum- might have to remove door panel:(
  6. My mechanic quoted $600 for RMS. He didn't think it to be a problem as long as I check oil level every couple of weeks. Just a few drops now and then on driveway. $1200 is too high. Sorry I'm in CO. BTW I also did valve covers and plugs first. Doug
  7. great prices, which style did you opt for?
  8. welcome to the hotest interior of any car you will own. Most of the heat is from tranny. Make sure your AC is in good condition! We all have the same experience. On the other hand here in CO its nice in the winter. Big engine big heat.
  9. My rear main seal leaks also, will not ruin your engine just check your oil and don't let it get too low. Its anywhere from $350 to $600 to fix depending on where yo live. I would get radiater fixed right away.
  10. On the 300, Im assuming it should be fairly easy, it's it's an inline engine so as long as you can get access to the top part of the engine and stick a spark plug socket in there, you're good to go. I tried searching the forum to see if there's any write up, but there was an error, not sure if that's because im fairly new. Its a pain had mine done when I had my head gaskets done.

  12. I have the same leak and it is main seal. Good news is I have been told it will not cause any more damage, just make sure you check your oil and keep a cardboard box under car :) I have an estimate of $600 to have it fixed. When I do it will also have engine and tranny mounts replaced. I hear that makes a nice difference in ride. Good luck. Doug
  13. Cup Holder, now used for cell phone altoids etc.
  14. Sacha Baron Cohen is stll a jerk.
  15. My wife checked him in at the airport in NM and said the guy was a real jerk!

  17. Congrats I purchased a very clean 92 sc300 auto 5mos ago and just love it. I would suggest getting the car in good stock condition before doing mods. Plenty of help here and http://www.clublexus.com. Keep us updated.
  18. If my memory serves me properly it is 5.3 qts. with a filter change. 4.8 with filter 4.5 qts without, straight from the SC 300 manual
  19. ...as in load tester? yes, something I colud also use on motorcycle and other toys
  20. Are the $20 ones just as accurate - what do you use?
  21. also looking for good - stand by their work - and affordable shop in or around Denver area. Don't see too many older SC's here. Thanks in advance- Doug
  22. I think they would look nice on the bottom strip below the door. I would buy them.
  23. another Co SC. I purchased this 92 auto 3mos ago. I really wanted one and just test drove it. I did a carfax and could tell the car has been taken care of. I did replace head gaskets $300 and still have main seal to do $500. They are heavy cars and don't do well in snow. i love the ride and power. As for project car they can be expensive but very original. This forum is full of info as is http://www.clublexus.com I very seldom see SC's but when you do they just stand out. As you can tell i love my car. Good luck
  24. Just for reference I just bought 92 sc 300 excellent condition 135,000 mi for $5800. Spoke with another gentleman just bought sc300 60,000 one owner (mechanic) for $7200- hope that helps.
  25. bought sc 300 gold tan interior. 135000 on spedo paid $5800 from motivated girl in CO Springs. In m opinion this is going to be one sweet ride. Excellent condition inside and out. A few minor paint chips and headlights are NOT fogged. Leaking a little oil so had valve gasgets and new plugs $360. Still leaking a little next will be rear seal quoted $600. I do have a slight miss when stopped in drive, not sure about that. I still find it hard to believe you can get these luxury cars so cheap. Even with upkeep NICE!
