  1. Water based paint or not - the issue is now bigger than I thought. Upon closer inspection of both cars (2007 RX350 and 2007 LS460) I have cracks in the paint - yes - you read that right - cracks in the paint. The RX has cracks on both mirrors and the driver's door. The LS has a crack in the front bumper. The cracks are oval and as I run my finger tips over them, I can feel the change in surface level. Both cars have always been hand washed and garaged. I somewhat expect the occasional stone ding but the cracks are alarming. Anyone else seeing this?
  2. I have a2007 RX350 and 2007 LS460 - both have had issues with paint. The paint will chip off with the slightest ding. It get's worse than the chips. The RX has now developed cracks in the mirrors and doors. The LS has cracks in the front bumper. Haven't talked to the dealer yet - can't wait to see what they have to say. Two cars - both always hand washed - different colors - different models - same problem!!
  3. Yeah - I was offered the protection but I have owned many cars and this is the first ones that the paint is chipping off. Also, there are cracks that are appearing. This is not the pursuit of perfection. Agreed the paint looks nice now but how will it look in 3 years? I have only 8,000 miles on the LS car, it is garaged and hand washed and ALWAYS parked away from other cars. Frankly, I do not see the need for added protection. I expect paint to stay on the car. I could sort of understand that if it was a Ford but it's a freaking Lexus. And, it's on both of them. And, their 2007's. This is BS.
  4. I figured other people were having problems. It seemed odd to me that it was on both cars. I haven't shown the dealer yet but I'll post after I get their response
  5. I agree the lockout is overkill. I would like to have the option of no lockout (and sign a waiver if needed). It's about as annoying as having to hit the "I Agree" button every time I turn on the care. I figure after about a year of this, the car should get the point - I AGREE. However, with all of that said I am very happy with my decision to purchase the car. It is truely an exceptional automobile (other than the paint - see my posting)
  6. Welcome to the forum, I have an LS and opted for it over Mercedes S class and CLS. I have always paid cash for cars so I can't help with what the payment/lease will be. I paid $60,750 + tax for my 2007 LS460 w/Levison Nav etc. Didn't go for the auto park stuff or power doors but got everything else. You need to shop arround for the car to get the pricing. Some dealers are very proud of their inventory and think its worth a lot. I even considered flying to go get my car (what a fun drive home it would be). Once I had a written quote from an out of state and town dealer - my local dealer beat it (image that). Don't be fooled by the BS that "these cars are so hot they sell before they hit the lot". I love my car. I had lots of fun leaving BMW 7's and 5's in the dust. The ride is quiet as a coffin, smooooooth, and the music system is unbelievable. Put the car in to the manual shift mode once and a while and really feel the power of the v8 4.6L. This car out performs Mercedes and BMW on all measurements exept one (BMW 5 G-Force in cornering beat it by 0.1). Be careful - you will find yourself touching 95mph in a hurry. Everything good thing said about this car is true - it is close to perfection. I only have to complaints. It is a !Removed! to clean the inside of the back window and the paint seems to chip too easily.
  7. On both of my 2007s I have noticed small cracks in the paint. Also, th epaint seems to be very brittle and chips easily with a stone ding. (esp. on the LS) Both care are garaged and have always been had washed. Has anyone else had issues?
